THE CONTRACT by Zena Wynn

Description: Cecily marries Billy, but is forced by his company to also take Billy's brother Renardo as a husband and lover after Renardo's wife dies. Drama.

The Good: Ms. Wynn takes a complex situation and makes it surprisingly simple and extremely hot. The reader feels for her main character, who really put in a tug-of-war situation. Though the drama is plentiful it also feels organic and earned. Also, I loved that the main characters are working class. And Ms. Wynn's world building is so...

KNOCKING BOOTS by J.M. Snyder

Description: Johnny thinks he's the only ranch hand who likes guys, but then he catches a Mexican migrant worker named Delfino with the ranch boss. Can Johnny find a way to hook up with the sexy vaquero, too?

The Good: The sex was H.O.T. And Delfino was written very sexy.

The Bad: This story is extremely short for it's price point. And the end isn't particularly satisfying. Though tagged as a gay interracial romance, it isn't very romantic.

The Naughty: Erotic. Peeping Tom.

Editing issues: No...

JUICY by Pepper Pace

Description: When, Juicy, a "dark as licorice" hairdresser with anger management issues is unexpectedly saved by Troy, a homeless white man with mental issues, really unexpected sparks fly.

The Good: Let's start with the fact that Ms. Pace managed to make a homeless white hero with mental issues not only sexy, but appealing. That alone would have blown my mind, but she also manages to successfully throw many of the romance formula rules out the window — which only makes the novel even more...

No, I Was Definitely Trolled and Thank You, Amazon!

So I returned home from an otherwise really nice vacation to find that Amazon had taken down the majority of the one-star reviews, accusing me of stealing from another author (one 2-star one wasn't included in the initial complaint and another 1-star popped up after it was sent in). However, I took a look at a screen shot of the original one-star reviews, and I was aghast that it wasn't just people saying I had stolen an idea from Ms. Nelson, but that I had actually plagiarized her work.

Recor...

I’ve been TROLLED … Maybe … I think.

I’m weekending in Colorado, where my next book is set, and where I only have access to the Edge network on my phone (no computer, no wifi). It was meant to be romantic, but after brunch I found a message in my inbox that said I should check my Amazon reviews, because apparently I was being accused of some bad stuff.

In a swirl of limited technology, I texted my best friend to check the reviews and call me on the cabin’s phone. (I can get texts out, but I can’t actually call people on my iPhon...

WOLF IN WAITING by Shyla Colt

Description: Years ago Kalyx and Luz were best friends in love, bonded over their mutual inability to shape shift. But when Luz shifts, Kalyx runs away, feeling their love can't transcend their pack caste. Now she's back for her sister's wedding. Can Luz, who never stopped loving her, convince her that they belong together?

The Good: This is a hot and compelling story. I love tortured alphas, and Luz is that.

The Bad: There's too much story stuffed into too small of a word count. And though...

WHIMSY by Thayer King

Description: In a case of some seriously mistaken identity, Princess Whimsy Featherstone is sold to King Gaedrian as a pleasure slave. Gaedrian is quite unhappily under the influence of Fate, a drug that drives its taker wild with lust until he finds his true mate. Can fate bring them together?

The Good: This set-up is great and had me at go. And the world-building in WHIMSY is just terrific. As usual with Ms. King's writing, the sex is off-the-hook H.O.T. and the build up to it is very well d...

DEEPER, LOUDER, HARDER by Jorja Tabu

LOUDER by Jorja Tabu is free over at Amazon until this Friday, so I figured now would be a great time to delve into her novella set, which includes her first three IR stories.

Description:

DEEPER – Prim and proper librarian, Charlotte Goodtree, finds herself loosening up in all the right ways when a handsome contractor enters her life. But will his explosive secret destroy their budding relationship?

LOUDER – Up and coming rapper, Ghost Diva (Gabby to her friends), receives the break of a...

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS by Wynter Daniels

Description: When down-on-her-luck Scarlet Eldrige accepts a job as a nanny for a hellion teen, she's thoroughly unprepared for the passion her charge's father, Ethan, makes her feel. Can she keep both the unruly teenager and her attraction to Ethan in check?

The Good: Scarlet is a very sweet girl, and the theme of luck is played out very well. The story had a strong, compelling plot, and the sex scenes were hot and well-executed. Certainly worth the very small price!

The Bad: Scarlet is very c...
