A Marine and Some Fish

Did that wacky title get your attention? It IS Wacky Wednesday on the blog. But this post won’t be wacky–just the title.

Happy 4th of July, everyone! I hope you all have afun and relaxing day. And I hope the weather in your part of the world isn’t too hot or too coldor too rainy. I hope it’s just right.

I want to start this post by thanking all our military brothers and sisters for fighting to preserve our freedom, with a special shout out to my nephew, Cody Baermann, who is currently serv...

New Release – Touched by Death – plus giveaway!

Hi everyone!

I’mecstaticto be able to tell you about my new release! It seemed like a long time coming! But I am truly grateful to have this one released. A lot of things came in-between, constantly putting the completion of this project back. And as always, many hands came together to make this book shine!

After reading my Psychic Vision series and nowTouched by Death, one of my readers asked me – where do I get these (crazy, weird, wild, psychotic, certifiably insane – insert any adjectiv...

The Fourth of Fantastic

I love Independence Day. Summer, family, picnics, BBQ, beer, fireworks and a time to reflect on who we are. As we muse election year politics, derision with our elected officials, and sour economy, some will wonder what happened to the greatness that defined the country. An old Native American saying: Never criticize a man until you’ve walked a mile in his moccasins. Live for awhile outside our borders, you’ll recognize that greatness is still soundly intact.

Having spent more than a decad...

Musing Over The Past with Mary Hart Perry

Today BIOTM is happy to have author Mary Hart Perry here to chat. Mary lives in the Washington DC area with her husband and two cats and writes an irresistible blend of romance, suspense, and lush Victorian settings. When I read the blurb for her new book, I immediately put it on my TBR list and made sure I got her to come to us for a visit so the rest of you might get a taste of what she has in store with The Wild Princess.

Thanks for inviting me to join you today! I’m Mary Hart Perry (bu...

Stranger Than Fiction, Take Two

The sign outside proclaimed, “Exotic Pet Store.”

“C’mon it’ll be cool.” The husband raised his eyebrows and pulled into the parking lot. “The stinkbugs are nuts this year, aren’t they?”

She couldn’t deny it–their were only two bugs short of a certifiable plague.

She followed him down the aisles but halted and bent over to examine the scurrying black, crunchy creatures. She shivered. They hissed. Her eyes flicked to the sign. ‘Madagascar hissing cockroaches.’

“Perfect. Ug.”

She contemplated h...

How is a Car Like a Book? Guest Blogger Liz Talley

Hey everybody. It’s Wacky Wednesday at Blame it on the Muse, but we’re breaking the tradition today with a guest blog from Superromance Author Liz Talley. Liz is incredibly prolific and her books are warmhearted and deeply southern, just like I like my books to be. She’s got a trilogy out this summer called The Boys of Bayou Bridge. Waters Run Deep was out in May, and Under the Autumn Sky is a July release. Today, she’s getting into the Wacky Wednesday swing of things with a blog about bo...

Redeeming the Bad Boy

I will admit it. I’ve got a thing for redeeming villains. Of all the heroes I’ve written, my favorite, so far, played the villain in an earlier manuscript. He agreed to that role, as long as I promised to write him a story in which I redeemed him, so I did.

I’m not sure I can actually do anything with that manuscript, given it’s one of my older ones, but someday I’d like to try. And I’ve got an advantage, because very few people have read the earlier work in which my bad boy was really bad...

Rules Were Made to be Broken

There’s been a lot of chatter on one of my loops about different “rules” that when carried to the extreme ruin a good piece of writing. The specific discussion was around the use of “to be” verbs such as “was” being passive. Someone indicated they ran across an editor who said the use of the verb “was” would result in her rejecting the manuscript. The general concensus was it depends on the rule, the writer and the publishing house.

The writing “rule” that drives me crazy is “show don’t te...

Happy Release Day to Me!

It’s finally here. The official release day for my newest book, DELIVER THE MOON. This was a book of my heart, so I’m delighted to finally share it with my readers. It’s completely different than the other books I’ve published (those were short, romantic comedies)–it’s a longer, more emotional story, with a serious premise.

Here’s the blurb:

Once upon a time, he promised her the moon. It’s time to deliver.

Louisa D’Angelo used to believe in happily ever after—until the tragic death of her s...
