Kindle Unlimited – 5 available from Must Love Curves

So, there’s this thing with Amazon you may have heard of called Kindle Unlimited. More or less, it’s Netflix for select ebooks and audiobooks. After the free trial period, it’s $9.99 per month (so if you just want to do the trial, remember to cancel before you get charged for the next month!). I believe it’s for US residents only at this point in time, but it sounds like they are going to roll it out to other countries. It doesn’t apply to every ebook/audiobook. For self-publishers, you have to have your ebook enrolled by choice in Select (that gives one free borrow per month to Prime members that have a kindle device) or be so popular (alas, that isn’t me — yet ) that Amazon puts your books in but treats every borrow as a sale (Amazon is also doing this for a number of popular books by traditional publishers). If an author voluntarily goes in Select/Kindle Unlimited, the title has to be exclusive to Amazon for 90 days.

Anyway, I thought about it, thought about it some more, forgot about it, thought about it…and finally put the singles from the Must Love Curves into Kindle Unlimited.  (Curves for Two isn’t in KU because it remains free)

I figure that some readers will have a question or two about KU as it relates to my books. I’ll try to address the ones that come to mind and any questions that I receive from readers after I distribute/post this.

Q1: Will you be enrolling all your books in KU?

A1: No. I have readers on Apple, Kobo, Barnes and Noble, Google and All Romance Ebooks. I realize some readers are like me and have all the major store apps on their tablet, PC or smartphone, but some only have their preferred store (that isn’t Amazon) and I don’t want to leave those readers behind. However, because these stores are not very competitive (compared to Amazon) in how they deliver great books to readers, there may come a time when I will enroll all my titles in KU. That time just hasn’t arrived yet and isn’t in the foreseeable future.

Q2: Will you be enrolling future titles in KU when they first release?

A2: No, and for much the same reason as the answer to Q1. I want my stories to reach as many readers as easily as possible and that means having them in all the major stores. Also, I think it’s important to books, readers and writers that there are a number of stores to choose from. Amazon pretty much has the best ebook ecosystem available, but even Amazon will stagnate in serving readers and writers if they are the only store left standing.

Q3: Will you be enrolling Billionaire’s Pet 1-3 or their bundle in KU so that their audiobooks also can be borrowed?

A3: No, but all the Pet audiobooks now have whispersync enabled, so you can get the ebook (first) and then the audiobook at a significant savings.

Q4: Why enroll these five books?

A4: They are among my oldest, so I’m cutting out the fewest new readers from the ease of shopping at their preferred store, while offering all my readers who have not tried out my Wicked BBW Shorts a nice break on price during that time of year (back to school, holiday shopping season) when everyone’s wallet is groaning at least a little.

Q5: If the singles are in KU, why isn’t the Must Love Curves Bundle?

A5: Because my mama didn’t raise no fool! LOL – for authors like me (the less than amazingly popular platoon), every borrow is treated the same in terms of payment to the author regardless of the length of the book (at least that’s how Amazon has done it now, who knows if they will change it in future). So I can receive payment from Amazon on 5 borrows (one for each wicked short) or on 1 borrow (the bundle); despite the cost to the reader being exactly  the same (free during the trial period or 5 + as many other borrows from other participating authors that you can read in one month for $9.99). Make sense?

Q6: Now that you’ve stopped playing ping-pong with whether you’ll enroll a few books in KU, are you getting your butt back to writing?

A6: Heck yeah! Working on Training Her Curves – Miami, to include a cameo from Gina & Austin from Black Gold (and a bonus scene for Gina & Austin for newsletter subscribers).

Dominating Mia - Wicked Reads 7/28 Newsletter

Isn't the collection cover YUMMY? I think so.
Anyway, the added scene will be going into the stores as an update to the original file -- so ya'll know the drill -- a coupon for Smash if you bought from a store (like Kobo) that has no way to update the file or if the stores are too dang slow or what have you. But...that's at least a week out.

So I came up with somewhat descriptive chapter names. Can you (1) guess which belong to Pet (15) and which belong to Curve Contract (14); and (2) get them in order? (Alas, no prize other than satisfaction for accuracy -- that's why it's an exercise and not a contest). :D

Thank you!I know you would have liked more stories from me these last few months (particularly in serials that need their HEA!!!), and I would have liked to have written them for you already. I have been very fortunate in that chemo hasn't been that hard on me. But it hasn't been without some mental effects. While I can balance my checkbook or format updates, etc., with my usual aplomb, the creative side has been stuck in one of two modes -- flicker or Groundhog's Day.

Both are movie references, the first being to the way "films" used to be a series of cards that flickered past when you turned the handle. Only, with the steroids from the chemo or some effect of the  chemo itself, they flicker by too fast to catch. This includes my dreams, which makes for a wakeful night.

Groundhog's Day is, yes, a Bill Murray reference. You know how he gets to the same spot (midnight) and everything restarts? The same has been happening with my scenes - my brain hits restart and goes over the scene and ... well, let's just say that poor Kai has been on a couch in Mace's penthouse with his hand down her panties, everything slippery with her need as his thumb finds the kernel of her sex and rubs with an uncompromising rhythm ... for like six days. Poor Kai, Poor Mace, Poor Me & You!

*Then there were the two days I spent mostly removing hair from my scalp in small clumps before I decided to re-enact a scene from Taxi Driver, but without the push-ups. But I'm past that now!

So thank you for sticking through the long, dry haul. I hope things will soon be wet once more.

I'm still trying to integrate a private forum into the wordpress (rather than a stand alone bb forum) site, and doing silly things like locking myself out of my own site! So the dust hasn't settled down over there.
