Snippet Saturday: Her Warriors’ Three Wishes

HerWarriorsThreeWishes72 Today I’m taking a snippet from HER WARRIORS’ THREE WISHES (Dante’s Circle 2). For those of you who downloaded the A TASTE OF DECADENCE bundle, this is the second book following DUST OF MY WINGS. I just finished the draft for AN UNLUCKY MOON (Dante’s Circle 3), which comes out Oct 8th.

(c) 2013

Jamie wrung her hands together as she stood in the empty cell underneath the coliseum floor. They’d taken her from her men—her men, that was a nice thing to say—and thrown her in this cell. They’d also given her an outfit to fight in.

She rolled her eyes as she looked at what she wore. The leather corset forced her boobs almost to her chin, quite an alarming feat considering she didn’t have the biggest breasts in the world. The tight-fitting torture device stopped right at her belly button and the short leather skirt she wore showed about five inches of stomach and way too much leg. They’d also given her leather boots that laced up to her knees and thankfully didn’t have a heel so she could at least walk—or run, which was likely to be the case.

She looked like a whore.

Caring more about what she wore and how she would move in it made more sense than freaking out about the fact that she was about to die.

Or, at least, fight to live. She just had to figure out a way to get out of the games alive so Balin could take them home.

The thought of home with both Ambrose and Balin made her body stir in an altogether pleasant and heated way, but she pushed that back.

She’d deal later with the whole ideas of a triad and mating, living with two men—if that’s what they did—the reality of her life being nothing like it used to be, and the fact that she was pretty sure she was falling in love with both of them.

Jamie couldn’t deal with that right now. Now, she’d ignore it and bury the feelings until she was back in the human realm, alive and whole. Then everything could come crashing down on her because they hadn’t exactly discussed the future.

Yeah, they’d said some vague things about it, but nothing concrete. And she needed concrete.

Her greatest fear—beyond being eaten alive within the next hour—was that Balin would decide that he was done with them once they escaped hell and had just been using her. Then Ambrose would leave because he was still too in love with his late wife and didn’t want to deal with another loss, so he’d leave before she left him.

As if she’d ever do that.

Snippet Saturday: Forgiveness

ForgivenessFORGIVENESS Redwood Pack Book 4.7

“I’m pretty sure Micah is in heaven right now,” Bay Jamenson teased as she watched her mother-in-law, Pat, rock Micah in her arms.

Melanie, her sister-in-law and Heir female, laughed. “Oh, yes, I totally agree. And just look at Finn watching. He knows it’s his turn soon.”

A pang hit Bay’s heart before she could stop it. Finn was fine, really. He’d been so broken before that her body shook just watching the way the little boy, who used to smile and laugh so often, sat quietly on the floor waiting his turn for time with Grandma.

“He’s doing okay, right?”  Bay asked, unable to hold back the question.

Melanie’s smile became strained, but she nodded. “Yes, he’s just a different baby now.” Her voice broke on the end, and she swallowed hard. “Sorry, I’m fine, really. It just hits me sometimes.”

Bay wrapped an arm around the other woman’s shoulders while they watched Pat play with their children. They’d come to Pat’s house so the Alpha female could indulge in babies while Bay and Melanie helped clean out the attic—something that hadn’t been done in decades. Apparently the elders had just thrown things up there, and Pat had let it happen so everyone would be happy. Well, now the Alpha female wanted her space back, so the Jamenson women were going to help her without being asked. They all loved Pat like their own mothers and would do anything for her—even dig through dusty boxes so she wouldn’t have to.

Bay just prayed that her psychometry—her ability to see memories from touching certain objects—didn’t flare up. It was most likely going to happen anyway, but hopefully, it would be good memories that didn’t wear her out.

Shopping – It Hurts

I haven’t even stepped foot into the store and I’m already in pain thinking about furniture shopping.

Yes. I’m weak.

Yes. I know it should be fun.

It won’t be.

LOL

Hubby and I spent a few ours looking online at the store we’ll be shopping at and put items on wish lists we liked. So far we’re similar in our tastes. Dark wood for the bedroom, not too ornate, not that many small drawers. White wood for the guest room. And either a couch/love seat combo that look comfy and yet nice or a sectional with chaise lounge.

Do you realize how many ugly couches and beds there are out there?

I’m sure somewhere out there there’s a person who loves the cherub and cherry wood carved ornate piece with duck shaped handles, but that’s so not me LOL.

Though it is kind of fun trying to figure out what styles we like, it’s not that much fun trying to look at thumbnail versions. When I shop for them in person, you know I’ll be tweeting random images saying “OMG WHAT IS THIS?!?”

I’ve been making lists and lists of things we need and I’m just ready to move now LOL. I don’t want to wait two weeks even though I’ve done all the organizing in less than 7 days.

Oh, and one thing I can’t find online?

A desk

Do people really think that writers need a spindly little desk? It’s not like I’m going to be doing my correspondence wearing my day dress and corset…well okay, I might just try that to get in character, but that’s another story.

I need a desk that has drawers people! I need something hardy and in a pretty wood. If it happens to not have dancing cherubs on it, I’m totally in.

Looks like desk shopping might take awhile.

Ugh.

So, have any of y’all had any fun shopping adventures?
