Ten Interview Questions for the Next Big Thing!

Fairy Comments & Graphics

~Magickal Graphics~

What is your working title of your book? The Fairy In Manhattan
Where did the idea come from for the book? I love fairies and NY so I thought why not combine the magic of fairies and of New York City.
What genre does your book fall under? Paranormal Romance
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition? Hmm that’s hard. I can’t choose!
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? Helping a human with her magic isn’t as easy as it seems especially when it goes awry. Are fairies and humans supposed to like each other?
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? Hopefully a represented by a publishing company. If not self published.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? Usually it takes me a couple of months.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? There is a lot of YA fairy books out there which are amazing. I don’t like to compare though.
Who or what inspired you to write this book? Just the love of the paranormal like fairies, angels. I read a lot of different books so I get inspired by a lot of books!
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
It has a lot of emotion between two characters who think they’re different from each other, yet are very much alike.

One Year Anniversary of Consoling Angel!

A couple of days ago, it was the one year anniversary of my first short story being published. Thanks to Dark Castle Lords for making it happen and also for those who believed in me.

ConsolingAngelCover

Consoling Angel by Denise Alicea
Genre: YA, Time Travel, Romance, Short Story

Out Nov. 22, 2011 on Amazon, NookFictionWise & AReCafe.com

Book Blurb:
Mira did not know what she had in store the day she fell asleep while wanting to escape her current situation. Overcoming a death from someone so close and burying herself in school and an internship has kept her somewhat awake and alive. An admiration for the actor, James Dean was all that kept the memory of her father alive. If she couldn’t be with her father, she could at least remember what they shared an admiration for together. She always wanted to meet James Dean… she didn’t know it would come true. Be careful what you wish for. It may just come true.

Excerpt:

My life couldn’t be more complete. As we reached the apartments, I slowly got off the bike, surprised at myself that I had done this. Ordinarily, Id never get on a motorcycle. James leaned over and caressed my cheek. Before I could open my mouth to tell him what was to happen to him, he gave me a quick peck on the lips. I couldn’t let James walk away, not now.

Something in me grasped his wrist; my breath caught in my throat. I no longer cared about the rain. I must have looked like a drowned rat to him. I have to tell you something, I blurted as I waited for his reaction.

James smiled, then chuckled as he caressed my face. The rain was preventing me from seeing clearly. Sweetheart, its raining and youre soaked. I hope this is important. Pulling him toward me, I faced him. I could change history. I could have him live out his life as he was meant to. If I couldnt save my father, I could save him.

In the future, when you become famous, please be careful. Remember this: there will be a day that you are off to a race. You will not see a car until its too late. James, please promise me. It could mean your life. I must have sounded like a complete and total idiot to him. Geez! I think I watched Back To The Future too many times. I sounded like Marty talking to the professor about his impending death.

Chuckling, he shook his head, expelling the rain off his head and onto me. Laughter erupted between us as I covered my face. He then cupped my face, kissed my forehead. Are you sure youre not an angel? I cannot promise anything, but baby, I can promise Ill see you tomorrow. Ill pick you up here and you can ditch your responsibilities. Ride with me.

Sighing, now I knew how all those girls felt when they looked at him. What an offer that would be. Ditch school to ride with the man who was loved by so many. I was determined hed listen to me. Gripping his hands from my face, I gazed into his eyes. Im serious!

Before I could utter another word, his lips descended on mine. My body went toward him and melted. I couldnt help but respond as I brought him closer. I was lost in his warm lips as they caressed mine. Lingering near my lips, he breathed, I know you are. Then, winking as he kissed me again, smiling that beautiful smile of his, How else can my angel guard me if she isnt with me?

In Joules Taylor’s fascinating guide, meet the totem animals and sacred deities of Celtic lore, from warrior-poet Oisin to Brigid, goddess of healing; learn the Ogham, the secret language of the druids that was carved on stone and wood; or try the special rituals for empowerment and protection. Title: Priestess of the Forest: A Druid Journey by Ellen Hopman

Summary: In the tradition of Marion Zimmer Bradley’s Mists of Avalon, Ellen Evert Hopman weaves Druid history and spirituality into an engaging love story. This Bardic teaching tale is set in a fictional third-century Ireland when Christianity is sweeping across the Celtic Isles. During this time of crisis, love blooms between Ethne, a Druid healer, and her patient, a Fennid warrior. Their passionate affair suffers a tragic blow when Ethne is called upon to become the high queen.

Told from the Druid perspective, Hopman recreates the daily life, magical practices, politics, and spiritual lives of the ancient Celts during this historic turning point. Druid holy days, rites, rituals, herbal lore, and more are brought to life in this Celtic fantasy—illuminating Druidic teachings and cultural wisdom (Amazon.com)

My Rating: *****

Title: A Druid’s Herbal for the Sacred Earth Year by Ellen Hopman

Summary: Hopman provides the religious and historical background of the Druids before proceeding to the herbal information in chapters that progress through the seasons from All Hallows (the beginning of the Druidic year) through the fall equinox. Each of these chapters first sets the seasonal context, then presents a list of the herbs pertinent to that season. Each entry in a list cites the parts of the plant that are used and their herbal, homeopathic, and magical uses. Hopman follows the herbal with a discussion of planetary effects on herbs and the herbs used for major life events. Helpful appendixes guide the non-Druid in pronunciation, list sources of information and plants, and give a short list of references. Hopman’s effort will fascinate anyone interested in herbs and their lore as well as that sizable group that finds the Druids and their approach to life intriguing (Amazon.com)

Book Review: On a trip to Scotland, the psychotherapist family team of Adele, Marlena, and Thomas McCormick — pioneers in the psychotherapeutic use of horses — discover that early Celtic mysticism holds important insights into an equestrian-partnered spirituality. Through serendipitous encounters, they learn that the ancient Celtic people befriended the horse to cultivate the human heart and soul, and that horses accompanied the Celts as they spread their spiritual vision far and wide. The McCormicks soon embark on a wisdom pilgrimage. From India to Mexico to Spain and Morocco, they follow the ancient relationship between horses and humans, exploring a mystical path lit by a spirit of unity and beauty. With help from their horses, the McCormicks learn to integrate spirituality with their psychological training, forming a new, powerful form of healing. Horses and the Mystical Path recounts their memorable journey, and the lessons they learn from their amazing equine guides.
