Offlining It

I'm going off social media until I've finished writing 8 more books. I've calculated that I'll need to write 316,820 words to reach my goal of 1 million fiction words written. Then I'll have the confidence to write in a new genre.

With every new book I write it's not really about the word count, it's practice and learning. And most importantly for me it's being involved with my characters and their struggles while I'm actually writing and inside their worlds.

So I'd better list all time waster...

TREE Part II

Seeing as how I wrote a whole ode to the tree out my livingroom window, I decided to update its livelihood today. And here's how the tree is growing in the middle of summer.

Once again my view is filled with green for our sixth summer living in this flat. I'm so amazed by this tree's resilience.

Sort of related to this topic; I had a dream last night that we lived in a hovel, so when I woke up this morning I was glad to see that in reality we live in a small flat yes, but it's like a sweet pala...

Terrible POD Book

I am not a happy bunny. I recently ordered a paperback copy of The Girl in the Woods from Amazon UK to put on my shelf. When it arrived the top layer was like this:

Totally and completely unacceptable! The top layer is peeling off and there's bubbles all over the cover underneath.

Here's what my other matte book covers look like:

These are so smooth and pristine. The covers feel almost as though they're coated in soft rubber spray. I mean, as an author I want my books to look their best, obvious...

The teen adventure novel I'm writing at the moment is called Flutterby Girl. I'm uploading it chapter by chapter to Patreon where it can also be read chapter by chapter with your support. Once it's finished Flutterby Girl will be available as an ebook and in paperback everywhere.

Flutterby Girl - Chapter 1

Chapter 1 of Flutterby Girl is now available on Patreon. I've started over with this manuscript so many times. And this last time (honestly) is it, because I've gone with my original idea. That's why it wasn't working before. The whole reason I got this cover is because it went with my idea for Flutterby Girl. By trying to write something different I screwed up my creative process entirely.

Also, now that I'm posting a chapter at a time again on Patreon, it motivates me to get something posted...

Malevolent Sky

For a tree every season is a day. It sprouts tiny buds in the spring. It grows big dark green leaves in summer. In the fall it sucks all nutrients from its leaves back inside, so that it can survive the one day of winter.
Although this one winter’s day is different.
The tree has not only lost all of its leaves, it has lost its limbs as well. They’ve been cut off and the tree doesn’t know if it will be able to sprout new buds come spring tomorrow.
It takes all its energy, but the tree succe...
