My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I wanted to read Legends of Amun Ra - The Emerald Tablet because I’m a fan of Egyptian mythology so I was a little surprised to find sci/fi stirred into the mix. This book delivered plenty of mythology and much more. It’s a very in-depth story with several interesting characters and pov’s to give the reader a full spectrum experience. I loved the quote at the beginning and it just kept getting better!

Out of the Ashes
Brenda huddled in the window seat of Rachel’s room. Legs drawn to tuck her feet beneath her rear, she fingered the page with directions for the next step. She hadn’t read that far before. Despair filled her. How the hell… Her sister expected a lot from Brenda. More than Brenda had in her. The directions detailed the torture devices Brenda was supposed to employ on the “subject’s necessary choice”. Listed in ascending order of pain, the tortures included Brenda banding Daniel’s testicles at the very start of the forty-eight hour process, cut off chunks of his tongue in sections, use an acid dropper on a sensitive part of the body – inner wrists, inner thighs – like there was more work needed near the thigh or groin area, jeesh, razor slits on the fingertips and feet bottoms, then more visible methods to affect Rachel and less about causing Daniel pain. Apparently, he was supposed to be naked – Brenda shuddered at the option. Another one involved stretching him by hooking up some kind of a pulley system to yank his arms over his head from behind his back? Brenda didn’t claim any handyman skills. She was a nurse for crying out loud, she didn’t know the first thing about creating pulleys. Brenda dropped her head to the side and closed her eyes. According to Daniel, he was there under a very steep duress. Branding seemed like child’s play compared to the shit Rachel had directed be done in the second step. A sneaking suspicion rose in Brenda that Rachel’s tests weren’t designed for the torture of the participants, but rather for the people conducting the tests. If she succeeded in the tasks set before her, would she be any worse off than Rachel? Would she still be herself? The evil in the tests might be designed to bring out the evil in the conductors. If that were the case, Brenda didn’t want to participate.She’d already killed in the last couple weeks. Apparently she was supposed to torture and do things that were not a part of her mentality. No wonder Rachel had made Brenda swear she would finish the tests. All of them, regardless of anything or anyone. But… could Brenda save herself? Rachel? Daniel? Anyone? Even if she had no idea who she became during the process? Think. Dammit, come on, Brenda. If anyone can pull through this, it’s you. Think. What she wouldn’t give for a drink – anything would do, a simple beer would work. But if she had her choice? Maybe a pina colada? Or a mai tai… Oh, yeah. If she weren’t pregnant, she’d consider pounding some liquor. A small chuckle escaped Brenda. She’d never been a drinker, not a serious one, had never really enjoyed the taste or the effects of losing control of her thoughts. But Rachel… Rachel had enjoyed wine – even if it came from a box. She didn’t care. She’d said more than once that fermented grape juice was good enough for her.
And an idea took root in Brenda, as if she’d had it there the whole time. It sprouted and grew, billowing out to her limbs and in her heart. She could save herself. She could be the person she knew and still do her job.

All for Hope by Olivia Hardin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

All for Hope begins reading more like a mystery than a romance novel which I found interesting and unique. Though the passage of time moves quickly, the scenes are well developed and held my interest. I have a bit of trouble connecting with a heroine who is a saint, but the story is great and definitely worth the read. It’s heartwarming and cozy and has a very special baby at the heart of it all. I think Hope should have been the baby’s name. My favorite thing about this book: Lost love, a rekindled flame, true love realized. I loved the hero’s struggle with the relationship and the little tidbits about her dreams and how she told her mother she wanted to marry him one day. Sweet and well placed. Great read if you’re looking for a cozy romance!

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to talk to you about my new book Wilted Wings. Without the fans this book would never have been written. I got requests on Facebook to continue the story of Damon and Ilisha from Broken Butterflies. I have never written a sequel. I have so many stories in my mind that I just want to move on to the next one. I adore my fans so I had to give them what they wanted.
Wilted Wings is the next chapter in Damon and Ilisha’s life. There are new characters and new species in this book, which will test the lives of all the characters. Some will lose their lives, while others try and prosper. The evil surrounding earth and the heavens has just increased ten fold and Damon will find his life in peril and his strength and pride diminished a bit. Ilisha will come into her own form of strength and become a great warrior amongst the chaos.

I hope you enjoy the sequel to Broken Butterflies.
