The Unholy Book Tour

The Unholy, a novel by Paul DeBlassie III, Ph.D. Distributed by Ingram
(Sunstone Press)"A young curandera, a medicine woman, intent on uncovering the secrets of her past is forced into a life-and-death battle against an evil Archbishop. Set in the mystic land of Aztlan, the Unholy is a novel of destiny as healer and slayer. native lore of dreams and visions, shape changing, and natural magic work to spin a neo-gothic web in which sadness and mystery lure the unsuspecting into a twilight realm of discovery and decision."

Have you ever thought that something other than yourself has a hold of your mind? Meet Claire, a young curandera, in the mystic land of Aztlan who struggles to overcome the forces of evil and claim her inner inheritance.
The Unholy is a riveting novel about the dark side of religion, cultural prejudice throughout the Southwest, realms of mystic happenings, folk healers, native shamans, and signs from the spirit world. It is a psychological thriller, supernatural journey, and neo-gothic horror.
The Unholy lures the reader into a twilight realm that pits two old worlds against each other — the indigenous medicine ways versus institutional religion. Natural magic and the dark side of religion each play a role as healer confronts slayer.
“Paul DeBlassie III has brought us a richly imagined supernatural thriller set in the high mountain desert of Aztlan, where Claire Sanchez, an herbalist and medicine woman, has come to reclaim her healing heritage and uncover the secrets of her mother’s death. The book digs deep into legend, folklore, and the author’s own imagination to paint a stirring picture of a traditional curanderismo pitted against the oppressive forces of institutional religious power. Make sure you have lots of time; once you start reading this book, it will be hard to put down.”
-—Stephan V. Beyer, author of Singing to the Plants: A Guide to Mestizo Shamanism in the Upper Amazon“The Unholy, an excellent novel by Paul DeBlassie III, keeps the reader engaged throughout in mystery, suspense, and church politics. In addition to vividly depicting the beautiful landscape and culture of New Mexico, it exposes and strengthens the traditional work of the medicine women of the Southwest. I am looking forward to Dr. DeBlassie's next book.”
—Eliseo "Cheo” Torres, author of Curandero: A Life In Mexican Folk Healing, professor, and university administrator

About the Author:

I am a small town girl with big dreams. I grew up in a small coastal community called Pamlico County in the town of Reelsboro North Carolina. Growing up in such a rural area there wasn't much to do, so I developed a wide fantasy finding solace in writing poetry and songs. After high school I left my little secure coastal town to discover other parts of the country. It was a sad and lonely time, but also a fun and exciting time in my life. I had too many emotions to process so I started to put it all down on paper. That became the start of my first novel, which I have yet to finish. My first complete novel entitled Protector was a dream come true, although I found out during the process, at 31 years old, I am dyslexic. Reading was always a struggle throughout my life and finding out why has really made a difference in me and my writing. It was such a wonderful and daunting process but I have succeeded in doing something I never thought I would do. I have 3 novels published, Protect, Protect Me and Too Close To Home and 2 more on the way. Writing is such a passion of mine and will continue to be whether I become successful with it or not. I currently live out side of my home town with my husband and daughter.

Now for the Excerpt...

I just wanted this night to be over. Alejandro was right, I would rather be dead than continue with this on and off pain. How much longer would I have to wait?

As the pain subsided, I looked into dark brown eyes, blonde flowing hair surrounding a round, high cheek boned face. “I'm Stephanie.” She smiled.

“Hi. Excuse me if I'm not that into pleasantries.”

Pinching her lips into a straight line, she nodded. “I understand.”

“When will the moon be full?”

“It's full now, but it peaks in about an hour or so. It will be over soon.”

Nostrils flaring again, she smelled of vanilla, musk, and earth. Again, comfort. Like being with family, a recognizable smell. Another girl, dark, short hair and blue eyes bounced over to where we now stood. “Hi, Cevin. I'm Grace.” Moving back as she reached out to hug me, I felt bad for the hurt look on her face.

“Grace, move slowly. He's new to all of this.” Stephanie reprimanded. “Don't mind her, Cevin. She's new to the pack and still learning about the lifestyle. She's not tuned in completely to her senses yet.”

I opened an arm to invite her in for an embrace. “I guess we'll learn this together, Grace.” I smiled, letting it reach my eyes. Grace happily accepted the hug before scurrying off to the others, who looked to be preparing.

An hour to go. I was afraid, yet anxious to get it over with. Right now I had to face the fact that I was going to be a wolf, I had no choice in the matter. What I did have a choice about though was if I would lose Sam. I didn't care what the pack, legend, or Dr. Conley say, I'm not losing her and I was making up my mind on that fact right now. Sam's probably worried sick, wondering what was happening to me. Josephine could kiss my ass. She won't threaten me like she did my father.

Welcome Todd Miller!

Going Virtual – Part 1 & 2 In Silicon Valley, innovation is gauged by its capacity to "disrupt". What if you could knock down every office building in Silicon Valley and plant trees in their place? Now, what if you could knock down every office building while simultaneously doubling worker productivity, saving $ billions in expenses, and half a billion tons of carbon emissions? How's that for disruption?

Going Virtual makes a compelling case that offices are obsolete in the 21st century. The exhaustive research and case studies presented in the book dispel conventional wisdom that offices amplify resources. The findings in Going Virtual demonstrate that offices consume vast resources in terms of productivity and cash, as well as exacting a substantial toll on the environment. For example, each year, America’s 56 million knowledge workers collectively burn more than 10 million person years and 740 million barrels of oil in commute. Once these workers arrive at the office, their remaining quality work time is shredded to bits by endless interruptions.

Going Virtual demonstrates how businesses can survive and prosper in the “New Normal” economy of the 21st century. Part 2 offers practical advice on how to transition from a bricks and mortar office to a virtual one.

Now for the interview...

I'm super excited to welcome Tom Miller!

Q: Tell me a little bit about yourself. What do you do for fun?
I am a serial entrepreneur, which means that I think up ideas for new inventions and then create companies to realize those ideas. I also write – in addition to my first books on the virtual office, I am a contributing blogger to The Huffington Post and other publications.
I rescue animals, and am passionate about animal rights and the environment. In my not-so-abundant spare time, I am a competitive horseback rider and occasional ballroom dancer.
Q: What do you like most about the genre you write in?
Oddly, I don’t like business books. I read them early in my career, though I rarely do so now. The reason I wrote the book was to offer something that had the potential to change the world as much as it has the potential to change business best practices.
Q: Where is your favorite place to write?
Starbucks
Q: What’s your next project?
I’m working on my first sci-fi fiction book – very excited!
Q: How do you feel about Dr. Pepper?

I was born and raised in Texas, so Dr. Pepper is very near and dear to my heart. It was probably at the base of my food pyramid as a youngster growing up in Texas.
Aww... Thank you so much for being here today, Tom!
