New Erica Robyn review of My Glass Is Runn
I’m forever grateful to Erica Robyn Reads who has has just reviewed another of my books.
This time around, My Glass Is Runn got the spotlight, and I can’t say enough how brilliant it is for an author to read – well, any favourable review! But especially reviews so carefully thought-out, well-crafted and in-depth. So if you’re wavering on whether my books are for you, or indeed looking for any book recommendations, I can wholeheartedly recommend checking out Erica’s excellent review site.

Mirrors Reflecting Shadows – out now!
It’s been a busy month for releases – I promise I’ve only got one more thing out this month (as far as I know!) and that’s later on, then I’ll stop spamming you with updates for a while! Unless you like updates? Let me know!
This one is a really important one, though. ‘Mirrors Reflecting Shadows’ is an anthology from the team up of Anxiety Press, Outcast Press, and Roi Fainéant Press with all the proceeds going to The Trevor Project. This is a charity that works to provide support and prevent su...

The Fiends in the Furrows III – out now!
[image error]I’m absolutely delighted to pass on the news that ‘The Fiends in the Furrows III: Final Harvest’ is released today (well, yesterday technically, but I missed it because of the time difference, heh) and I’m lucky enough to be in it.
I love folk horror, the majority of my work falls broadly into that category, and ‘The Fiends in the Furrows’ series of anthologies from the wonderful Nosetouch Press are all folk horror goldmines (now I’m thinking about haunted mines…) I’ve submitted work to every ca...

‘Of Water’ at The Other Stories podcast
I’m always delighted to have my work adapted for podcast by the Hawk and Cleaver folks at The Other Stories podcast, but this one is particularly magical to me.
Read wonderfully by the incredibly talented Georgia Cook, with a perfect soundtrack that gives me chills even on this sunny day, they’ve made my story ‘Of Water’ something really special.
Thanks so much to everyone involved for this creepily atmospheric rendition: Georgia Cook for the narration, Jimmy Horrors for editing, Carrion House f...

First volume of Flint magazine out now!
The first volume of Flint magazine, a monthly micro-zine from Erro Press, is out now and I’m honoured to be one of the authors featured in this beautiful inaugural issue.
Designed to be accessible and affordable, each issue costs just £4 (plus postage – £1 in the UK) for at least 16 pages of diverse new poetry and fiction.
Volume 1 has the theme ‘Temporary’ – exploring “the ephemeral nature of experience and emotion.” It features my short story ‘I Could Be Cruel’ alongside new stories from Zach ...

We’re all Living With Demons
New story announcement!
Just in time for Pride month, my story ‘Own You’ which is possibly the most angry queer story I’ve ever written, is now available in the anthology ‘Living With Demons’ from Tea, but with Coffee Media.
This is an anthology of dark fantasy stories aimed at giving hope to those who struggle with their mental health. All profits will be donated to WriteHive – a volunteer-led organisation providing free programs and sponsorship to the writing community.
‘Own You’ is about brea...

What Pride month means to this queer author
It’s June 1st.
It’s Pride month once again, and once again I’ve come in completely unprepared because (newsflash) I suck at marketing and promotion. But I woke up this morning thinking about the whole Pride thing (actually, I woke up this morning having dreamt that I was on Taskmaster and I had to raise a flag but the other team kept sabotaging my flag – I feel that this segues quite well into this blog post.)
Am I proud to be queer?
The answer, honestly, is ‘not particularly?’
I’m no more prou...

I’ve signed my first trad publishing contract!
Even typing this it still doesn’t quite feel real, but yesterday I signed my first trad publishing contract for my collection of queer folk horror short stories, ‘The Holes in the Air’, with Erro Press.
This collection has been a long time in the making and I poured my heart and soul into it, so I’m delighted to have found a publisher like Erro Press who are committed to giving opportunities to the voices that mainstream publishers often overlook. I want to read more and varied queer characters,...

I got tense on The Book Slam podcast!
Last Sunday I had the pleasure of taking part in The Book Slam podcast panel discussion on the topic of ‘How to create heart-stopping tension in your writing and keep your reader hooked’.
If you didn’t catch it live, then you can now watch the whole thing here:
I will say, one thing that increases author tension is that countdown to going live..! But once we were in, it was such a fun discussion to be part of, alongside lovely hosts Jules and Adam who really kept the conversation flowing...
