Woke myself from a dream to savor this moment

I was running for public office and my mom came to see me debate. The woman introducing me said that I fight for the rights of workers, then someone whispered in her ear that I fight for sex workers. She turned beet red and then said to me, “I have trouble taking your concerns seriously.” My dream mom stood up and said fuck you to her. Thanks, dream mom! My mom would stand up for me like that in real life. But it felt pretty awesome in the dream.

Memory lane:...

one sex worker nation under dildo (by Audacia Ray)

Memory lane: in 2007 I curated an art show as a benefit for $pread magazine, and we did this thing that I started out jokingly calling “One Sex Worker Nation Under Dildo” and then became a thing. Sex toy stores in the US and Canada opened their doors to sex workers and gave them dildo and craft supplies, and then we did a silent auction of 40 awesome pieces of dildo art at the show. This one is one of my faves.

RedUP is hiring a PT Community Organizer in Brooklyn!:

redupnyc:

The Red Umbrella Project (RedUP) is a small peer-led organization based in Brooklyn, New York, which amplifies the voices of people in the sex trades to take greater control of their lives and livelihoods through sustained and structured peer-mentoring initiatives, multimedia storytelling…

Oh hey, RedUP is hiring and you should take a look, pass it on, help me find one badass person (sex workers highly preferred) in NYC who can help me keep RedUP awesome.

"“The jury has the right to judge both the law as well as the fact in controversy.” And it remains entirely legal for a jury to acquit, regardless of the evidence, as a means of resisting unjust laws and sentencing. Juries have nullified to protest injustices throughout American history—in defense of the Boston Tea Party, against the Fugitive Slave Act, against Prohibition.

Despite this proud tradition, nullification has been a well-kept secret since 1895, when the Supreme Court ruled that while juries had the right to nullify, judges were not required to inform them of this power. “

Nullification: Jurors’ Secret Weapon Against Harsh Sentencing | The Nation

Whenever you see someone posting on social media about having jury duty, send them information on juror nullification. Its a very important right we have that can be used to resist the police state and the prison industrial complex.
