Midnight Labyrinth is Live!
Purchase Links Amazon US Amazon UK iBooks Nook Smashwords Kobo It’s here! You guys, I’m so excited to share this book with you. I’ve had the bones of this series sketched out for FIVE YEARS. Seriously, I’m really excited. I love this book. I love these characters. They’re weird and wonderful in the best way. (I think.) I’m glad I have readers who appreciate them. I want to thank every one of you who thought these two crazy characters needed their own series, because I loved writing this book and I’m already working on the next one. Thanks for your enthusiasm AND your patience. Ben and Tenzin have taken a very long and winding path to their first novel. I hope you all think it was worth it. I hope you enjoy MIDNIGHT LABYRINTH. Books, what books? We’re talking coffee.
Okay, okay, yes. So I’m horrible about blogging and haven’t done it in a while. But good news! I have a bunch of stuff coming out soon. The biggest is MIDNIGHT LABYRINTH, which is out in just a couple days! And then we have Amid the Winter Snow next month. Some new audiobooks in the Elemental Legacy series coming soon, and more. But today I want to talk coffee. As many of you know, my fiancé is Ethiopian (we met on my research trip for A Stone-Kissed Sea) and I love coffee very much. I mean him. I love HIM very much. And also coffee. I used to think I made good coffee, and I kind of do. I made good American coffee. But once you’ve been to the birthplace of coffee, you realize a couple things. American coffee (even strong coffee) is coffee-flavored-water. Milk is not necessary in coffee, […]

Book Recommendaitons: Audiobook Recommendations
Audiobook Recommendations I’m kind of weird about audiobooks. I’m just going to get that right out of the way up front. I was slow to pick them up at all until I discovered my kid (my own child!) was a reluctant reader. Then I discovered a few years ago that my son loved audiobooks and couldn’t get enough of them, so we started listening to them on car trips. I’m the super-strict No-TV-In-The-Car-Look-Out-The-Windows-For-Heavens-Sake mom, so audiobooks were a great compromise for us. We got the benefit of listening to great stories and my son got hooked on the written word in audiobook format. So… audiobooks started creeping in. First kids books, then some non-fiction (mostly memoirs and such) from authors or comedians I love. And then I found some radio dramas. And slowly but surely, fiction has started to come to life through listening. My own work is still […]

Audiobooks? What audiobooks?
Good morning, lovely people! I hope your week is going well. Because I get questions about audiobooks all the time, I’m going to address some of the most common questions in this post. Why are your new audiobooks taking so long? Well, for some reason, my previous audio publisher decided they didn’t want to pick up the newer books in my series. Not sure why as sales have been good, but there you go. Now, in the past, that would have meant reader/listeners were just out of luck. But happily, we don’t live in that time. The good news? I can produce my audiobooks myself! The bad news? I have to produce my audiobooks myself. Why is that bad news? Well, producing takes time. It takes time to cast the right voices, go through production notes, listen to files, edit files, etc. That used to be something my audio publisher […]

MIDNIGHT LABYRINTH Roundup! Preorder links/FAQ/Chapter One preview
I’m so very pleased to announce that Midnight Labyrinth is available to preorder at all retailers now! It releases on November 7th. Here are your links: Amazon: http://amzn.to/2vTuXtN iBooks: http://apple.co/2gyESmr B&N: http://bit.ly/2vAHyGM Kobo: http://bit.ly/2vALPtX Smashwords: http://bit.ly/2esTdN7 FAQ for new and old readers Do I have to have read the Elemental Legacy novellas or any of your other books before I read these? Nope! This is a stand alone book. Which means that even if you’ve never read any of my other Elemental universe books, you’ll be able to pick this one up and enjoy. This is an entirely new series set in an existing world, but you won’t be lost. I’ve even had beta readers who aren’t familiar with my other books read this one to be sure. So far, they’ve loved it. Is this a paranormal romance? Though there are some romantic subplots throughout the series, this […]

Book Recommendations: Books to Read if you like Outlander
If you like OUTLANDER OUTLANDER (the book and the TV show) is a big epic story that combines elements of romance, time travel, and historic fiction. It’s a huge series with lots of devoted fans. But where do you turn if you’ve read all the Outlander books and you’re waiting for the next? Here are some authors I love that I’m recommending to those who love Outlander. April White, The Immortal Descendants series Time travel, you say? The Immortal Descendants is a great YA series that features a brand new mythology where the heroine, Saira, can travel through time. It’s well-researched, compelling, and fast-paced. It’s also recently finished! So you can binge-read to your heart’s content. And if you have teenagers, this would be a really fun buddy read because adults will love these just as much as teens do. Singrid Undset, Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy Are […]

HARVEY FUNDRAISER: Please donate if you can.
I’m not shy about my Houston love. I went to university there and if all my family hadn’t still been in California, I’d have stayed. My first book is set there. I was just back in March for an alumni event. I have amazing friends and readers all over that part of Texas, so obviously, […]
