Waiting on Wednesday: #BloodApprentice #teaser

New teaser from Blood Apprentice! Have you been missing Chloe? I have. Enjoy this teaser and then check out my note at the end for some exciting news about the Elemental Legacy series. From Blood Apprentice, coming February 12th… Ben and Tenzin had to look for a variety of karst formations, sinkholes that—with any luck—hadn’t filled in, and ruins that hopefully hadn’t been disturbed. A large outcropping in the distinct shape of a horse’s head. A waterfall. And caves. And caves were abundant in that part of the island. Luck and hope. Ben finished off his coffee and glared at the cathedral. This is why I don’t like treasure maps. If everything went according to plan, they would gain formal permission from Los Tres the next evening. Then they could start exploring, which would go faster with a wind vampire in the lead, and if they found the entrance to […]

Saturday Ramble: A new #teaser for #BloodApprentice (since I was late this week)

Hey! So… not in Ethiopia. Life is complicated, right? We’ll get there soon, but for now—for reasons out of our control—we’re still in California enjoying the cold weather… and the rain. Yay. So I’m going to gift you with a picture of Ben being contemplative in a tropical location and wishing I was hanging out in Puerto Rico with him and Tenzin! Hope your house is warmer than mine. (Lots of great things about old houses, but gaaaaah, they are hard to heat.) Let’s take a tiny trip to the Caribbean, with a longer trip scheduled for the middle of February when Blood Apprentice will be in your hot little hands! (Or cold hands. We’ll all be ready for a tropical vacation by then, right? Right.) Remember, all teasers are unedited and subject to change on final publication. Ben had never met his cousin Liza. He wondered if she even […]

#SaturdayRamble | Thoughts on 2018 | #blogging, #books, and #life

FRIENDS! It has been a year. What a year! It was a year of many things. Of books and boys growing taller. Of immigration and marriage. Of writing and reevaluating. It was a good year in some ways and a hard year in others. It was a trip. I wanted to take a minute to focus and evaluate with you. This year in so many ways was wonderful for me on the personal front. My husband moved to the States. We finally got married after a long journey of trying to be together and not knowing how or when that was going to happen. My son continues to be this incredible kid, but he just keeps getting taller. He grows out of clothes alarmingly fast and he keeps getting smarter and more independent, which has its good points and its bad. (Parents of teens, you get what I mean.) Our […]

Waiting on Wednesday: #BloodApprentice #ElementalLegacy

From Blood Apprentice, coming February 2019… “I received your letter of introduction two weeks ago,” Inés said. “Novia speaks highly of you and your partner.” Inés glanced at Tenzin, who remained silent as they sat at the table. “I confess, she is not what I had expected.” Tenzin spoke quietly. “I’m usually not.” Inés smiled. “I understand you are here for work.” “I am.” Ben started on the carefully rehearsed story. “As I’m sure you’re aware, my uncle, Giovanni Vecchio, specializes in retrieval of items that are literary in nature. Books. Correspondence. Things of interest to a specific and very private clientele.” “I understand.” Inés paused as a servant set a bottle in front of her. “White wine?” “Thank you.” Ben pushed his glass forward. “While my uncle focuses on items of a literary nature, I assist him when a client is looking for something slightly different.” “Like treasure?” Ben […]

Waiting on Wednesday: Blood Apprentice #ElementalLegacy

A very quick teaser for Blood Apprentice. Rough release is looking like the middle of February. “We love you both,” Giovanni said, “but you have to realize that in this game, you hold all the cards.” She gave him a slight laugh. “Do you really think that?” “Are you saying it’s not true?” Because it was Giovanni—and only because it was him—she allowed herself to speak the truth. “Only three living people have the ability to undo me, my boy. And only one has ever made this dead heart feel even a little bit human. You say we’re all human, but you forget how long I’ve been a monster.” “You’re not a monster.” “But I am,” she said. “Far more than you’ve ever been willing to admit. The odd thing is, even with all your years and all your wisdom, I think he sees me more clearly than you do.” […]

The Irin world gets a little bigger with the introduction of characters from India, set against the sticky, hot New Orleans area.  —Kendrai Meeks, author of the Red Hood Chronicles The passion between Rhys and Meera burned oh so good. Their chemistry was electric and I never doubted that they were made for each other. Elizabeth has a way with writing love scenes that aren’t graphic, but still pack a punch in the steamy heat department. —Smut & Bonbons  Oh my goodness…still fanning myself from all the love/hate build up these two (Meera & Rhys) did in this book.
