There are three prequel novellas and retailers won’t let me group them together with the novels, so it’s kind of hard to find them. Because of the confusion, I decided to group the PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED novellas together in one anthology along with The Bronze Blade, Tenzin’s origin story, and make them all available in one book! It’s like The Complete Benzin Primer, I guess. Only with a better title than that. For the […]

Sunday Night Thoughts #authorlife
Writing the Elemental Legacy series is hard. Though Ben and Tenzin are two of my absolute favorite characters ever, they’re difficult to write. Their relationship is really weird and complicated. And on top of that, writing treasure-hunting books is a blast and a half, but it’s a huge juggle too. When I first thought up the series seven years ago, my beta readers and editor were skeptical, to say the least. So when I see all of you so excited about the release of Night’s Reckoning, it is incredibly gratifying. I’m so happy. I’m a little scared to death, too, bc this book has a ton of expectations laying on it, but I’m overwhelmed by how much you have invested in this series as readers. Not to be too cheesy, but it MOVES ME that something I’ve written has become so important to you all. That’s it. That’s all I […]

The (NEW) Thing about Cambio Springs! + Other Random Book News
So the last time I had to write about my Cambio Springs series last summer, it was kind of a bummer. I had to reiterate that I didn’t just stop the series because I didn’t love it, and I felt discouraged because I wanted to tell Sean’s story, but didn’t think it was financially viable. Like I said, it was… kind of a bummer. via GIPHY LUCKILY the response from my readers was AMAZING. You all are fantastic and I want to first say—before anything else—that the vast, vast majority of you are kind, wonderful, enthusiastic, and supportive people. via GIPHY People often remark about how active I am on social media and comment positively on how often I interact with my readers through things like Five Question Friday or responding to comments on my Facebook feed or my Instagram pics. There’s a very simple reason I interact with all […]

GRIT is now live!
GRIT IS NOW AVAILABLE Melissa and Cary’s story is finally LIVE! So I know you’re not supposed to have favorite books. I know this. You’re supposed to love all your books equally, because they’re all very special in their own ways. But… sometimes you have favorites and this is one of mine. If you’ll allow me to be (just a little bit) grand, GRIT is a love letter and a tribute to so many hard-working women in my life. My sister, my friends, my mother, and yes, even myself. I think, even though we haven’t all been single working moms, that Melissa is so relatable. I know you’re going to love her. And Cary? Just… hand me a towel to wipe the drool, okay? He’s sexy. He’s kinda grumpy. He loves his mom. He’s patient (mostly) with preteens. In short, his heart is pure gold. GRAB A COPY / GIVEAWAY […]

GRIT Pre-order Now Available
I love this cover so much and am so happy with the job Damonza did! You can pre-order your copy below, releases September 3rd! Amazon US (affiliate link->): https://amzn.to/30pOotU Amazon UK: https://amzn.to/2S1LMz9 Amazon CA: https://amzn.to/2YEgQaF Amazon AU: https://amzn.to/2XvYg8l AppleBooks: https://apple.co/2RPO6t4 Kobo: http://bit.ly/302Tegw Nook: http://bit.ly/2IZWNhA Smashwords: https://bit.ly/2YqG1xk He’s been patient; she’s been busy. Patience is running out. Melissa Oxford is a widow with a ranch, an orange grove, a goat-obsessed ten-year-old, and not enough time. She doesn’t have time to make friends. She doesn’t have time to stop and chat, and she definitely does not have time for a boyfriend. Which is fine, because Cary Nakamura is far from being a boy. Cary’s the man who helped Melissa plant her trees. The friend who keeps offering advice, even when she’s is too stubborn to take it. He’s also the man who kissed Melissa in broad daylight on a sidewalk in Metlin, California, […]

First look: GRIT
Because I am on a complete author high—I JUST FINISHED CARY AND MELISSA’S BOOOOOOOOK!—I decided to post the first chapter of GRIT, a rough draft of which was at the back of HOOKED. (If you haven’t picked up Hooked yet, what are you waiting for? It’s on sale here.) This is still a rough draft, of course, but it’s got a couple more scenes that weren’t in the preview at the back of Hooked and I am just IN LOVE with this couple. Seriously, this story really got to me and I love these two characters, I love their amazing moms, I love Melissa’s daughter. I love the daughter’s GOATS! I just love this book. I don’t have preorder links for you yet, but I’m hopefully going to have those on Monday! Or at least next week. Cover reveal will be up with the preorder and release is looking like […]

The Thing About Cambio Springs
Author’s note: I wrote this a few months ago, then I didn’t post it. I thought I was just in a mood and I shouldn’t make a big deal about it. It had been a hard week and I didn’t want to overreact. I have edited this, re-read it a bunch, and I no longer feel like this is an overreaction. I hope it will bring some much needed clarity to well-intentioned and enthusiastic readers who might not realize how much this weighs on me and how much mail I get about this. I don’t enjoy posting about Cambio Springs. I didn’t enjoy posting about this the first time back in 2016 when I wrote The Realities of Publishing post. But here we go again, because I get messages every week. I get emails every week. I get comments on my blog and on my FB page every week. Often, […]

HOOKED is now LIVE!
HOOKED IS NOW AVAILABLE! Tayla and Jeremy’s story is LIVE! I took a break from vampire mayhem and Irin political machinations to write the next book in the 7th and Main series, HOOKED! Those of you who liked INK, last year’s bookstore romance, should be very happy with this contemporary romance. It’s another opposites-attract story with Tayla and Jeremy. Tayla is a hilarious firecracker, and Jeremy is sweet, sexy, and possibly too pure for this world. Also, he’s a rock climber, so I now know WAY more about knots and secure anchor points than I ever expected to. It is also completely stand-alone! So if you haven’t read INK or any of my other contemporary romances, you can jump right into this one without missing anything. Can these two opposites make romance in Metlin work? Tayla McKinnon is not a small town girl. The fashion blogger moved to Metlin with two goals in mind: help her friend start a book store and have a little fun. A year later, Tayla has made new friends, successfully launched INK, and is ready for a new challenge. Too bad she can’t get a certain rock-climbing, comic book geek off her mind. Jeremy Allen has been playing the long […]
