take it as an opportunity to learn

A few days ago, in the afternoon, suddenly I was given a chance to present a paper in an important meeting chaired by the Secretary General of education. It was at very last minutes that the officer due to present was not able to do it for some reason. To be honest, I was not really keen to do it as I was not sure about the content of the presentation.

Then after considering that this was a learning opportunity for me, I just decided to accept the task and just do the job. I had only an hour t...

Life in a New Place

It has been more than 2 months now since I started to work in Putrajaya and stay in my own apartment. The working environment is totally different in Putrajaya. I am a junior officer here, in charge in a smaller role from a leadership perspective. When in Perlis, I led the unit; this time I am more of a supporter to my immediate boss. Anyway, it is a new experience to explore and understand. Actually, there are opportunities for me to apply what I have learned and experienced in Perlis as wel...

SMILE is the key?

Do you remember your first day at work?
I have found that first day in a new job is always hard and wrecks my nerves. It was always difficult and not easy to go through. The place is different, the people are different, the systems are different; just how to cope with it comfortably? No matter how many times I have started work at a new place, the feeling of nervousness will just come. So many questions come to my mind: What to say to people? How to greet them? Am I welcome there? Am I going t...

Bye Perlis, Hello Putrajaya!

Yesterday was my last day in Perlis. It was a sad day saying goodbye. Time felt frozen and the day felt longer than usual. My staff planned a goodbye ceremony. It was hard for me to say good bye to be honest.

Even though I was there for only a year, it felt like forever. The connection that we built was so strong that I felt like a family. We shared not only work related information but every now and then shared about our personal lives.

I do not know what will be coming up into my life;...

Almost a year in Perlis

Oh no! I thought I would be able to update regularly my blog but it seems that it is quite hard to keep up.

Sometimes it is not really about time I think. Giving an excuse that I do not have time to update is quite questionable. I think I always have some free time but I think most of the time I prefer to do other things that can take away my mind from thinking too much. Something like watching TV series on the internet, doing jigsaw puzzles or going out with friends for fun; at least for that...

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2018!

2017 has now gone and left us with millions of memories. 365 days looks a lot today as I am writing this on the firts January 2018 but I believe will be gone so fast. Yesterday was 2017 and today is already 2018. It looks like they are next to each other, but you can never go back to 2017.

So today it's time to cherish the new year and the new start and leave behind all the regrets and what make us sad in 2017. Anyway, I will stick to not have any resolutions every new year but will change my...

job will never end

At least in my mind the job will never end. There will always to plan even though it is during your weekends. There will always be something that comes to my mind and reminds me that I need to do something in the office soon!
Sometimes it gives me a bit of an adrenaline rush and I just jump on my laptop and start typing a letter. Sometimes I just quickly send a text message to my staff to remind us of some item that we need to discuss. That is just how my mind works I guess. I just need to kee...

After every storm, there is a rainbow

AFTER EVERY STORM, THERE IS A RAINBOW
I always neglected how meaningful and powerful this quote is. I guess it is just normal for us not to look at the positive side of something happening in front of us. We tend to look at the problem more than the solution. We tend to focus on the difficulties rather than the result. Just as the real storm, it's hard and dangerous to go through the storm either u walk, run or drive. We might find a shelter and wait until the storm stops. Then suddenly the co...

Malacca for a week

I do not really have time to think about writing at the minute as there is so much work to be done in the office now - end of year. However, because I am travelling at the moment, I can only do work on the phone and through emails when necessary.

Last week I went to a big event in Malacca. My task was to observe the liaison officer and the event itself as Perlis will be the host for the same event next year. I was in Malacca for almost a week and managed to observe from the day before the part...
