Friday Favs
Things that are bringing me joy this week:
My seeds are growing, growing, and they are officially seedlings now instead.Realising that Monday is my best Get Stuff Done day, and Thursday is my best Positive Energy day. (A weirdly consistent pattern.)Planning a cover for a 2023 non-fiction release with the cover artist

Kickstarter Going Strong!
Woohoo! I’m super excited to report back that just about halfway through the campaign, the Inklet Kickstarter is going strong! It funded fully last weekend, so you’re now guaranteed to get whatever you sign up for, and so far we’ve hit the first stretch goal and are closing in on the second Also, I ended up changing the first stretch goal from an additional free Inklet to a short story from the It All Changes Now collection that you can’t buy separately anywhere else.
And if we can get all ...

The Powers That Be, An Inklet
This week’s Inklet is The Powers That Be, #26 and the longest installation in the Powers mini-series cycle about superheroes with a kind of ‘mantel’ of power that passes on to the next person when they die, so there are always the same number of them in the world.
The medical assembly has finally arrested the last existing Power, one of the super-powered, nearly-immortal beings tasked with preserving the balance of the world. All too often, though, their battles have ravaged cities, so ...

#MadeItMonday: Marmalade!
Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something you’ve made in the last week (ish; let’s say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!
I was going to say that this is a slightly lazy option this week...

Friday Favs
A throwback in this edition Friday Favs. I was in the car the other day pulling into the driveway with the kids and said something about keeping safe – so of course I had to quote, “Keep it secret, keep it safe.” And then we came inside and I dug out my copy of the trilogy* and started reading and THEN I started reading aloud and THEN ninety minutes later I’d read the first chapter to the kids and the 10-year-old in particular was very keen. So of course last weekend when we were talking Book We...

Shoe, A Retelling Of The Red Shoes
This week’s Inklet came out about a year ago, and it’s one of the shortest of the Inklets. (Speaking of which, stay tuned for some exciting Inklet-related news, coming soon!) Shoe is a modern dark fantasy/horror tale inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale, ‘The Red Shoes‘, but without the significant slatherings of religious baggage that somehow I’d forgotten were there between reading it back in high school and rereading it in writing this post o.O (I didn’t reread it when I wrote ‘...

IT LIVES!! I.e. The Kickstarter Has Launched :)

Well. We never saw this one coming. (Though in retrospect, Amy’s projects do tend to get rather out of hand, so maybe we should have.)
Allow us to set the scene for you: it’s 2015, and Amy has just read a rather charming collection of short stories, and when she discovered that it had been born out of a weekly short story blog the authors had run for a while, SHE WAS ENAMOURED.
And so, of course, Amy persuaded Liana (because she *can* be rather persuasive at times, let’s be honest) th...

Writing Update
A quick writing update seems in order. The good news: I’ve hit the 50k mark on Define Good!
The, uh, other news? Yeah I’m still not convinced I’m halfway, and neither is my alpha reader (the person whose job it is to just cheer wildly as I complete each chapter, basically, so I have some accountability and motivation to Keep Going).
Which, I mean, I guess this is good news in the long run because you get a longer book, but can we all pause and AH HA HA laugh wildly for a bit because Defi...

October Inklet: More Than Mushrooms
An actual new release this time, woohoo! Not that I have any less love for the Inklets that have already been released, but nevertheless, it’s always exciting to have a new book out in the world
This month, my Inklet is More Than Mushrooms, a contemporary family piece with a mystery element that’s part of my April Showers collection – which means it was written during the first lockdown in 2020 as part the writing challenge I set for myself
The silver silence out in the forest ref...
