LET’S PLAY: The Talos Principle Public Test (get all six stars)

The Talos Principle is a new game coming soon from Devolver Digital. It releases on December 11th (next Thursday). In anticipation of the launch, Devolver released a free-to-play public test on Steam, consisting of four puzzles plus a bonus puzzle you can only get by getting six stars hidden throughout the game.

I sat down with the public test and played it through. I found the game SUPREMELY enjoyable and will definitely be picking it up—it's 10% off if you pre-order. If you want to try out the public test, pick it up on steam here and check out the playthrough video below if you want to make sure you get all the bonus objectives.

New T-Shirts

I hesitated quite heavily before posting this. But basically, I've created four new t-shirts with a new merchandising company I've discovered called TeePublic.

Previously, I'd had some merchandise with Cafepress. Well, it NEVER sold, partially because CafePress charged an insane amount for shirts—$25 minimum on t-shirts, and those were for low-quality shirts. Scoop necks, hoodies, etc. all cost much, much more. It was ridiculous.

Teepublic charges $20 per shirt and they take care of all fulfillment and delivery. That's still a BIT pricey, but it's a step in the right direction. Plus, I'm hoping their products are relatively high-quality.

The Eric Garner Case

In July a New York Police Officer named Daniel Pantaleo attempted arrest of a man named Eric Garner in New York City, allegedly for selling loose cigarettes on the street.

During the encounter Officer Pantaleo threw Eric Garner to the ground and wrapped an arm around his throat in a chokehold.

According to the New York Times, the NYPD banned chokeholds in 1993.

Eric Garner had asthma and immediately became distressed, screaming “I can’t breathe” 11 times before falling silent and dying shortly thereafter.

LET’S PLAY: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Completionist Run, Part 11

I'm doing a completionist run of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. "Completionist" just means I'm not only beating the game, but going for every single optional objective the game has to offer, as well. This is part 11 of the series, and the video player above will allow you to skip through to find previous episodes if you haven't already.

This video series is on my new gaming channel Garrett's Games, and I hope you'll consider subscribing!

GAME REVIEW: Game of Thrones, by Telltale Games

Hello there and welcome to Garrett’s Games where I play games and my name is Garrett. This is my review of Game of Thrones, the latest title released just yesterday by Telltale Games.

First up, spoiler warning for the VIDEO. I will not be spoiling anything in my review but, of course, my gameplay footage is playing on the screen. So if you want the review without spoiling the story, just don’t look at the screen, minimize it, do whatever you want.

This game is of course based on A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. It was licensed by HBO and not Martin’s publisher. This means it looks and feels very much like the TV show. And I’m a big fan of that, because I think the show’s aesthetic is absolutely fantastic.

LET’S PLAY: Game of Thrones (by Telltale Games)

Above are my first three playthrough videos for Game of Thrones, the new video game series by Telltale Games.

It's quite an interesting type of video game, different from what I've seen or played before. The company has an excellent track record of dealing with great storied material, with past credits of Walking Dead and Tales from the Borderlands.

They're in fine form with Game of Thrones, but this series might not be worth checking out until it goes on sale, unless you're really a diehard fan of the books. The playtime is simply too short.

Another Way to Hang Out Online

Hey there, Rebels.

You well know I'm a geek at this point. I've been into sci-fi and fantasy since I was a wee lad, and I've played video games for just about as long. Well, similar to how I decided to turn my writing into more content—not my books, but the process of writing itself—I've now decided to commodify my video games as well.

Super-Retaliation

We are all wronged at one point in our life. Someone does something to you, justified or not, and it hurts. Sometimes it hurts a lot.

Sometimes YOU’RE the one causing the pain. You do something that seems like a good idea at the time, or you do something in spite, or in a moment of weakness. You do it because you’re angry, or you do it because you need to lash out at someone, anyone.

It happens, is my point. Depending on the level of the offense, the parties may make up with each other, or it might mean the end of a relationship. Either way, most people try to move on.

But not always.

A World In Revolt

In Mexico, thousands gather to protest, accusing the government of covering up and/or aiding criminal elements in their society that kidnapped, and possibly killed, a class of high school students on a field trip. In Hong Kong, young people fill the streets demanding the right to elect their own leaders, a promise of democracy that China’s [...]
