A Fear of Commitment

Good morning Rebels, and welcome back to my life.

Next Friday I’m going to be getting on a plane and flying to Austin for the Colonists’ Summit with Johnny B. Truant and Sean Platt from the Self Publishing Podcast. It’s going to be a conference with writers from all over the country, and the agenda is going to be heavily focused on not only writing and self-publishing, but the world Johnny and Sean built in their book The Dream Engine.

VEDA #5: Dumbledore House Cup Rant

Somebody on Tumblr the other day got all upset about Dumbledore giving the House Cup to Gryffindor at the end of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. And when I first read their post about it, I got upset, too. But we shouldn’t look at any issue from one side only, especially on the Internet. Here’s my thoughts after watching the first Harry Potter film again.

Copycat Success

Good morning Rebels, and welcome back to my life!

So, funny story. Also true. I FORGOT I was doing VEDA.

And now it’s almost seven o’clock and my wife said, “Hey, sweetie, where’s your video for today?”

And I’m all, “Psssh, what are you talking about? It’s Saturday, I never vlog on a Saturday and OH MY GOD IT’S APRIL!”

The Best Dollar You’ll Spend Today

Good morning Rebels, and welcome back to my life.

Okay, you remember how I’ve been telling you for a couple of weeks that a big surprise sale day was coming up? Well, today is that day!

Today you can get every single book in my entire library for only $0.99 each, which, let’s face it, is kind of a big deal.

What that means in terms of numbers is that you can pick up all my books, totalling more than a million words of indie fiction, for just nine bucks when normally it would cost you fifty.

You can click on this link right here for a page where you can see ALL my books listed out with links to buy them on every ebook platform where they’re available, so GO CHECK THEM ALL OUT.

Now let’s say you’ve already read my books, or most of them anyway. What’s in this sale for you?

TOLKIEN TUESDAY: Incest in Middle-earth

Good morning Rebels, and welcome back to my life.

Today I’m doing a thing I’ve wanted to do for a while now. Henceforth, I will try to make every Tuesday a Tolkien Tuesday.

I love the world of Middle-earth. It’s probably my biggest fandom. I have read more books in that world than most people probably know exist, I can write in Elvish. I actually have a tattoo in elvish.

And of course there’s the whole thing where I flew around the world to New Zealand just on the off chance that I might actually get a spot on the crew of the Hobbit films.

I like Tolkien, is what I’m trying to say.

April Fools’ Day Do’s and Don’ts

Good morning Rebels, and welcome back to my life. It’s the 1st of April which, for large parts of the world, makes it April Fools’ Day, the day when you can’t trust literally anything you see on the Internet. Last year for April Fools’ day I told you guys I was giving up writing to [...]

VEDA (Vlog Every Day in April)

Good morning Rebels, and welcome back to my life.

Today I want to talk to you about the Vedas or Veda, also known as the “Vedic Hymns.”

The Veda are among the oldest religious texts we know of, and have the double distinction of being the earliest literary record of Indo-Aryan civilization, and are the most sacred books of India and the foundations of Hinduism.

The Veda comprise a series of hymns, recitations and teachings which not only provide a philosophy of life, humanity and the mind, but provide rituals and ceremonies for everything in life from birth to marriage to death and everything in between.

They originated in India somewhere between 1700-1100 BCE, as far as we can tell, and have been used by the people of India ever since, and considering how many people live in India, that makes them kind of a big deal.
