Return to Astoria
Hello Rebel, and welcome back to my life.
You remember that last week I went to the town of Astoria on Oregon’s northern border. Well, I also mentioned that Astoria was the location for the classic 80’s film The Goonies.
On Thursday my oldest friend Zach came to town, and Zach has been a huge fan of The Goonies for most of his life, so he and I set out for Astoria again without Meghan or the kids, just the two of us.

Thoughts from Borders
I spent today on the border of Oregon and Washington State, and it made me think things. I recorded some of those thoughts on videos. Like you do. When you have thoughts. From places.

Life is Harder Now.
We have so much work to do, it's overwhelming. We have to take breaks when we can, to take care of ourselves, but then we have to remember to put our shoulders back to the wheel. I wish it wasn't like this. But it is.

The Truth Can Be Known.
Hello Rebel, and welcome back to my life.
I find myself thinking about the truth a lot these days.
I feel like a really terrifying idea has become pervasive in our society, and that’s that the truth is some mysterious thing that we can’t actually know.
We hear about Facebook bubbles where everyone only hears things that agree with what they already believe and fake news stories get picked up and shared and can’t be disproven.

The Danger of Being A Narcissist
Hello Rebel, and welcome back to my life. Yes, my life. It’s mine.
It’s time for that talk about narcissism, which seems more relevant than ever in light of our new President—hork—our new President Elect—hork—I’m sorry, I just ...
You’ve heard me say on this channel and my podcasts and many other places that I’m a narcissist. And most of you have probably laughed and shaken your heads and gone, “Ah, that Garrett. He’s so silly.”
Yeah, a lot of you think I’m joking about this. I’m not. I definitely consider myself, for real, a narcissist. I don’t say that proudly or with shame. It is just a thing about me.

I Do Not Accept Trump
Hello Rebel, and welcome back to my life.
A terrible thing happened on Tuesday night. People across the country, including me, were shown that this nation and its ideals have not advanced as far as we thought.
Twenty-five percent of this country has raised its voice in support of a liar, a racist and a misogynist, but I do not accept either him or his supporters.
I reject the reprehensible, disgusting human being Donald Trump as President of the United States.

Why I Voted for Hillary Clinton
Hello Rebel, and welcome back to my life!
Tomorrow is the American election, and if you’re an American, you need to get out and vote. It’s unlikely we’ll ever see an election this important again in our lifetimes. I actually kind of hope we don’t.
I live in Oregon, one of the easiest states to vote in, and so with no muss or fuss, I have already cast my vote for Hillary Clinton.
I think that voting against Donald Trump is a perfectly valid reaction to his racism, misogyny, and religious discrimination. But I didn’t vote against Trump. I voted for Clinton.

Learn How to Author
Hello, Rebel, and welcome back to my life.
I was planning to talk about narcissism today, but we’re gonna have to put a pin in that, because instead I want to have a little talk about Patreon.
As you know—or probably know—or should know, especially if you’ve been around a little while—I have a Patreon page where if you want to, you can support my YouTubing.

Responsibility vs. Blame
Hello Rebel, and welcome back to my life. As I mentioned in previous videos, I had many interesting conversations with friends at Nerdcon: Stories. Those conversations have continued since, and one I want to share with you today concerns the concept of responsibility. Responsibility is an important concept to me that I’ve spent a lot […]
