Good Morning, America, I Love You
America is having a moment. Please excuse our dust while we hem and haw and dance around our system of checks and balances. It can get messy, we know. At least, it usually works like that. The older I get, the more I realize that the calm we struggle so hard to reach and live by, really covers a multitude of res...

Blue Skies and Sad Hearts
Today has arrived on a cloud of sorrow, although I know of no reason why it would. I’m trying to work through it with typical Saturday chores and cooking projects – laundry, chicken broth, yogurt… and an uncertain plan for dinner which may be nothing more than a late lunch. We want to take a long walk, and will need to leave about 4 or so. But I’m not going to eat afterwards at 7 or 7:30. Trips That Exhaust You
Those tend to be the best trips, and I’m happy to report that I just had a three day vacation that resulted in many naps. In fact, I think I’ve just started to recover.
We went up to the town of Mendocino, which is farther north than I’ve ever been on the California coast. Mendocino County has two of the best things on the planet: redwood forests and ocean. Let this picture show you – it’s the view from the balcony of our rented house:
We didn’t have much time to stare at the view, though. Oh n...
