I didn't read it in school.  I did read it at home, over and over again.  It totally influenced my writing.  The entire series was lovely.

Did you read A Wrinkle in Time in school?

Went birding this weekend, but didn't spot one of these.  Wonder if they're an Asian thing.  ;)

This is just the sort of thing you don't think about when a tornado devastates your town.  What about the cemetery?

The thing is, someone's going to have to put this back together, aren't they?

And, is that a child's toy car in the upper middle sector of the photo?  I think it is.

Lots of folks have asked how me and mine are doing.  Henryville was where we were house-shopping, and where I was hoping to send my kids to school in the fall.

You could say those plans are on hold.

We, the Tashs, are fine.  There have been so many stories lighting up my FB about others who are not.  One mother had one leg amputated above the knee, and lost the foot on her other leg, crouched above her children in the basement of their home.  Yes, even people with basements did not come out of this tornado unscathed.

Another former classmate from Silver Creek lost his father in the tornado, when the storm hit his parents' house full-on.   His mom and dad were pulled out of the house by the winds.

Many people have heard about the little girl found in the field.  She passed away over the weekend, and is now in the great hereafter with her two siblings and both her parents, taken in the storm.

I even saw a diploma from my high school show up on Facebook in a Cincinnati yard.  That's over two hours away, people.

And there are more stories like this.  People missing.  Hundreds of homes destroyed.  Destruction everywhere.

Yeah, the cemetery is the last place we'll think of cleaning up, but think about it—eventually, it'll need picking up, too.

Everyone I know seems to be doing something to pitch in and help, whether that's working directly with aftermath, sifting through rubble, volunteering at the shelter, or gathering supplies for the survivors.

I'm trying to decide how to help.  Managing my brood in that sort of framework isn't the best choice, but there has to be a way that I can help, too.

Thinking.

If you'd like to donate to help the Red Cross, who was set up nearly immediately at nearby Charlestown High School, ready to help the survivors in Henryville, click here and give.
