Richelle E. Goodrich was born in Utah but spent most of her childhood and adult life in Central Washington where she raised three amazing young men and then sent them off to college. The author now resides in Oklahoma, enjoying the blessings of a new, happy marriage. In her twenties, Richelle graduated from Eastern Washington University with bachelor’s degrees in Liberal Studies and Natural Science / Mathematics Education, but she has always had a strong love of the arts. Thank you; I'm happy you like my quote. It is a truth that has helped me endure many hard times.

I'm thrilled about your desire to read more of my work. If you love quotes, as I truly do, you might start with a couple of books I wrote offering an original quote a day. "Making Wishes: Quotes, Thoughts, & a Little Poetry for Every Day of the Year" and "Smile Anyway: Quotes, Verse, & Grumblings for Every Day of the Year". I'm sure you will find many moving quotes in these two books.

If you prefer sci-fi and fantasy sagas, try my fun and romantic adventure with Queen Eena in the Harrowbethian Saga.

My personal favorite book is a novel about the trials of a young girl named Anna. Her story in "Dandelions: The Disappearance of Annabelle Fancher" was pieced together by actual events in the lives of people I know. "Secrets of a Noble Key Keeper" is a lighthearted piece of children's literature enjoyed at any age. This book is actually meant to accompany Annabelle's story.

Hope this helps. I look forward to your remarks about my literary works. Visit my author website to read about each book mentioned above. http://www.RichelleGoodrich.com(less)

Yes, Amy, that line is from my following quote:

"Some say freedom is a gift placed in our hands by our forefathers.
Some say freedom is a human right that none should be denied.
Some say freedom is a privilege that can and will be seized if taken for granted.
Some say freedom is the key that opens doors otherwise meant to imprison.
Some say freedom is power to do, to be, to say, and to accomplish what the oppressed cannot.
Some say freedom is a responsibility—a weight to be carried and shared by those willing to protect it.

Perhaps freedom is all these things.

But in my eyes, I see freedom as a treasure. It is a gem so rare and precious the fiercest battles rage over it. The blood of thousands is spilled for it—past, present, and future. Where true and unblemished freedom exists, it shines with perfect clarity, drawing the greedy masses, both those who desire a portion of the spoils and those who would rob the possessor of the treasure, hoping to bury it away.

Without freedom I am a slave in shackles on a ship lost at sea.

With freedom I am a captain; I am a pirate; I am an admiral; I am a scout; I am the eagle souring overhead; I am the north star guiding a crew; I am the ship itself; I am whatever I choose to be."

A Little Comfort

Losing a loved one is painful.  I am certain that those who have experienced this kind of loss feel a pang in their hearts at the mere mention of it. Grief — that aching bruise — never heals. It may improve over time, or perhaps, one just grows numb to it.

I recently said goodbye to my father.

“There are far too many silent sufferers.  Not because they don't yearn to reach out, but because they've tried and found no one who cares.”
Richelle E. Goodrich, Smile Anyway: Quotes, Verse, and Grumblings for Every Day of the Year

“Perhaps, if you weren't so busy regarding my shortcomings, you'd find that I do possess redeeming qualities, discreet as they may be.  I notice when the sky is blue.  I smile down at children.  I laugh at any innocent attempt at humor.  I quietly carry the burdens of others as though they were my own.  And I say 'I'm sorry' when you don't.  I am not without fault, but I am not without goodness either.”
Richelle E. Goodrich, Smile Anyway: Quotes, Verse, and Grumblings for Every Day of the Year

“There are many who don't wish to sleep for fear of nightmares. Sadly, there are many who don't wish to wake for the same fear.”
Richelle Goodrich, Dandelions: The Disappearance of Annabelle Fancher

“There are things
that make no sense,
that seem unreal,
that can’t be grasped
or understood
or explained,
that maybe don’t even exist…
And still, somehow, those wonderful things touch and change our lives.
Isn’t it strange?”
Richelle E. Goodrich, Secrets of a Noble Key Keeper

“In a world plagued with commonplace tragedies, only one thing exists that truly has the power to save lives, and that is love.”
Richelle Goodrich, Dandelions: The Disappearance of Annabelle Fancher

“Don't ever give up.
Don't ever give in.
Don't ever stop trying.
Don't ever sell out.
And if you find yourself succumbing to one of the above for a brief moment,
pick yourself up, brush yourself off, whisper a prayer, and start where you left off.
But never, ever, ever give up.”

Richelle Goodrich The Tarishe Curse by Richelle E. Goodrich
Since October of 2012, I have added yearly chapters to what has become an ongoing tale about the Queen of Werefolk and her entanglement with evil witches, a lonely warlock, desperate vampires, merciless gargoyles, and oh yes, hideous trolls. (Well, this year there are going to be trolls.) Writing annual chapters to The Tarishe Curse has become my Hallows Eve tradition.

If you haven't yet discovered the curse suffered by Queen Duvalla and her werewolf pack, start reading year 2012 and work your way through each consecutive year. And remember, on October 29th, 2018, I will post the next installment of The Tarishe Curse! And yes, there will be trolls!

Richelle Goodrich The Tarishe Curse by Richelle E. Goodrich
Is your skin crawling with notions of what's in store for the queen of werefolk?

Oh the horror!

Uh―waiting, that is.

The newest chapters of
'The Tarishe Curse'
will be posted in a few days! A sneak peek, you say? I love sneak peeks! How about a tempting taste of what's to come? Enjoy these excerpts:

“It isn’t always true that a critical end justifies desperate means.”

"The werewolves’ howling increased in unison, mixed with vicious yapping and the sound of splintering wood echoing from various points outside the gates. I continued screaming out in pain when Baron released my hand—bloody and mangled. He swiped my sword and stepped aside, once again dropping to a knee like a trained monkey.
'I will deal with you next,' the witch warned me in a hiss."

“My ears interpreted a mix of nearby voices as calm, friendly, ordinary chatter. With that as background noise, I enjoyed the silent attention of my mate. The way his hand brushed softly over every inch of my bare skin tempted my eyelids to close and my mind to wander, but I kept focused, not wanting to miss a moment of admiring this beautiful man and his seductive, wild look. I felt a flood of emotion set in, born from absolute, interminable love for him. I wished for the voices to cease, for time to halt, for the moment we were living to replay over and over and over again perpetually. The world could have its gain and glory, its vengeance and victories—all I wanted was the enduring love and attention of this man who most assuredly was my soulmate.”

“I drifted off after a while, staring at the only star visible through the thick covering of leaves. Hope seemed a futile wish, but I troubled the lonely star to grant it anyway.”

“Stop it!" I screamed, scrambling to my knees. “Stop your cruelty this instant! Leave them alone! Is vengeance all you know, you awful, haggard, old crone?”
My outburst proved successful at putting a halt to whatever evil had been in motion. The old woman turned her eyes full on me for the first time, looking genuinely shocked by my audacity. I continued to struggle with my bands, desperate to slip free.
“Such insolence, Catherine?”
“That is not my name, you barbarian!”
“How dare you speak so disrespectfully to your own grandmother!”
I felt a rise of endearing emotion constrain me—undoubtedly her doing. It took great effort to defy her further. “You….you……you are not my grandmother! I know who you are…..and I know who I am!”
“Oh, do you, child? Then perhaps I should mend that corrupted memory of yours first.”
I dared her with a steady glower, a dare she couldn’t resist.

Have I peaked your curiosity? Good.
See you on Halloween. (Maybe the day before.)
