The Value of Rain – Year One

The Value of Rain, gay fiction, lgbtWho would have thought we’d be sitting here one year later? Not me that’s for sure. As most of myregularreaders know I was prodded into publishing by some of my few, but very close, friends. J.S., who you met on my social sites while I was away, simplychuckles at this because he was one of those people. He’s the one that dug through manuscripts saying What about this one? OrDo you remember that one you wrote about…?

I specifically recall the conversation we had aboutdippingmy toe into this...

Author Interview with J. Warren

J. Warren, AuthorI’m talking with J. Warren today, author of Stealing Ganymede which was a 2009 Indie Book Award Finalist. Like my own books, Ganymede is a harsh fictional look at a disturbing subject matter and one I would recommend for your reading list.

B: I love authors that push buttons, and obviously with Ganymede you are one of those authors. Can you give me a little background as to what brought you to write about child prostitution?

J: Through blogging, prior to Facebook, I met a young man who had...

To Mom (A letter from a gay son)

The following is from Gay Family Values. It was a letter attached to the video you will see below. It was so touching that I thought I would re-share it here with you, becausesometimes we forget just how hard it is, even for today’s LGBTQ youth, to come out to their parents.

To Mom,

Mom I have been trying to talk to you for a while now but I just can’t bring the words to say it. So, I am writing you this letter instead. I just want you to know that it isn’t because I don’t feel like I can’t...

Author Interview with Allen Renfro

Allen Renfro, AuthorI’m talking with Allen Renfro today, author of The Raised and Snap. Allen, like me, looks at the darker side of things, so I’m sure my own readers will enjoy his work. I certainly did.

B: I know you’re a button pusher, I could tell that just by reading Snap, and the book is certainly a no-holds-barred look at how homophobia affects a person in the most extreme sense. One line stuck with me because I’ve seen its privileged condemnation repeated over and over again (especially recently) in t...

Do you like hot Southern gay men?

I love Southern gay men. I love the way they drawl, say Yes Ma’am, No Sir; that redneck tan line and those tight country jeans. Mm, makes me melt every time.

Have you ever met a gay blind man? One from the South? Ever?

Don’t worry, most people in the LGBT community haven’t either. So I want to introduce you to Hunter Stephens. He’s gay, tall, dark haired, and he’s hot. Very hot. But he doesn’t rely on the visual cues when appraising a man because he’s also blind. He listens to the timbre of...

Gay IS a choice because I experimented- Your thoughts?

I came across this little gem (below) in the comments section on a site about youth suicide. I won’t provide a link here simply because it didn’t offer any links for suicide prevention orcounseling, and for me, it seemed to have a feeling of promoting suicide more than preventing it. That said, the ‘logic’ of the post below caught me off guard and the assumption it made even more so. See what you think:

“I have to admit, I do think the gay culture is NOT normal. I think it is a sin. But I...

Going On Retreat

As many of you know I am leaving for a month and going on retreat. I will be far, far awayfromallelectronicgadgetry, social media, or any other form of communication. In fact this retreat will be one of complete silence.

Do not speak unless it improves on silence.

I’m chuckling as I write this because there are two typical responses I get when I tell someone this: “Holy shit! I could never do that” (from a younger crowd); and, “Man, that sound exactly like what I need, so lucky” (from older...
