I grew up on Fairy Tales, my mother telling my sister and I all sorts of obscure ones as we took walks around the block. So reading, and rewriting them, is very much a chance to revisit my childhood. I love the simplicity and universality of the tales. And I love exploring tales over and over, seeing how many new ways they can be twisted, and seeing what stays the same through any incarnation.
What makes you most excited about this new release?Mostly the fact that everyone who has read the book has loved it. Also, I have some adorable characters in this book that I can't wait to loose upon the world.
What is next for you as a writer?I am in the process of revising and re-releasing all six of my novels with brand new covers, details on that here. Beyond that, I've been working on entries for the Rooglewood contest, which I'll probably be releasing next year if they don't win, and Worth of a King, which is a sort-of prequel to Rizkaland, delving into a chapter of the villain's backstory, back before she went evil.
What is your favorite writing snack?
I'm not really a snack-while-I-write person. I'll keep water on my desk, most of the time, but that's usually about it, though I currently have a box of crackers on my desk that I have been snacking on today. I was hungry the last time I went shopping...
