Writing Saturday: A is for Alditha
In summer of this year, I will be releasing the first in a new series of books, set in the Middle Age in the fictional country of Taelis. So today, I am starting a new series that are the ABC's of this book Adventures and Adversities. An ABC series is perfect because each book of the Tales of Taelis, my new series, starts with a different letter of the alphabet. Today, I would like you to meet my sweet heroin, Alditha. and get to know her a little bit.

Off for an adventure...
Today I am off for an... errr, I have an appointment with the eye doctor. My eye has developed a dot that comes and goes and I must get it checked out. After that we have some errands to run in town. Okay, so this isn't a huge adventure, but I have boring days to. Sadly, I cannot write all the time.

A Legislative View: First Day of Session
The Texas legislature only meets for five months every other year (we like less time for the government to do things). Today was the first day of our five month session. Above is our staff photo (I'm in the red shirt).
I am really excited about the upcoming session. I now have a new title; Constituent Correspondence Aid. A fancy title to say that I will deal with the mail.
I will keep you posted on the fun and interesting things I learn and try to post pictures too.

Writing Saturday: A Bit of Inspiration #2
Sometimes a picture inspires 1000 words.

"He had a choice to make, but at the moment, neither seemed like
the right one. The only thing he wanted to do was to jump off the
side and swim back to shore and his family that was quickly
slipping away. That, however, was not an option."
What words does this inspire for you?

Day of Editing
Today I spent five hours editing. The grand number of chapters I edited? Two.
But that is okay, some books take longer then others to write edit. Hopefully all this work will mean it is 10 times better then my first books.
I must say, I am enjoying the story. It has been two years since I wrote it (almost exactly) and I haven't touched it or read it since then. Everything is fresh and new so at least I'm not bored. I hope to finish editing by the end of January. That may not happen, but at least it is a good goal.
Now, I am off to reward myself by allowing myself to write in my FBI book.

My Introduction to Les Misérables
Age appropriate for: Ages 12 and up
Description: The story that has thrilled millions comes to life in a brand new way in Focus on the Family Radio Theatre's Les Miserables. This audio drama beautifully portrays the redeeming power of forgiveness through the story of Jean Valjean, an embittered convict whose life is changed by a single act of kindness. Recorded in London with some of England's finest actors, it will mesmerize adults and families alike.
For years I have heard about Les Misérables. This year, with the new movie, I feel like I have heard of little else. People I hardly know rave about the musical, friends would talk at length about other movie versions and how the new one would compare, and my family has puzzled over what all the hype is about. We asked each other a question that shocked my friends; What is Les Misérables?
Thank you Tyndale House for offering review copies of Focus on the Family Radio Theater’s production. I ordered it to listen to over the holidays, not sure really what to expect. Most trendy stories that I have read/watched/listened to I didn’t like, so I had very low expectations for this story.
One evening my sister and were working, and we decided to start listening to Les Misérablesthinking we would just listen to one disc and then go to bed. That didn’t happen. It was very late when we finished the third disk. Both of us were touched deeply by the story and understood why others loved this story of redemption, faith, and second chances.
Focus on the Family Radio Theater had an incredible cast, background music, and realistic sound effects. The production was top notch, as all Focus on the Family Radio Theater productions are.
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about this story. I can’t wait to listen to it again. It will definitely become a favorite.
I highly recommend this for anyone 12 and up (because a child dies, and some other minor violence).
