Rosalind's Pick: Funerals and Fly Fishing
I'm always keeping my eye out for books I can recommend to young readers that have a positive message and an engaging story. Reminiscent of the wholesome and memorable reads of Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary, Funerals and Fly Fishing is a charming story of Brad Stanislawski, a lonely, creative kid who is sometimes picked on for his funny name and large size. The First Step is All You Need: Helping Girls Take Healthy Risks
The class was over, and I was gathering my notes.
"Can I talk to you for a minute?"
I turned around. Carmen, a sophomore, had been lingering.

Turns out it's a moving story of tolerance, loving someone in spite of his difference, and treating others with dignity. It's a fantastic film to watch with young people.
Lars (played by Ryan Gosling) is an awkward, painfully shy young man living in a grey, nameless Midwestern to

I twisted and turned, often glancing down at my watch. My impatience grew to anger and resentment. Why was I still here? How bad would it be if I just got up and walked out?
After listening to a repetitive fifteen-minute speech that was supposed to last five-minutes, the person at the podium finished their remarks. Now it was my turn to give a five minute feel-goo
