Book Jive Live
I will be storytelling at Book Jive Live, a live children's authors' event to be held on Zoom from 7.00-8.30pm on Friday 10 September! I will be performing a brand-new children's story from a new collection I have in the making - never read or heard anywhere before! In aid of magicbreakfast.com, a charity that provides nutritious breakfasts to children living with food insecurity.

Where we're at... March 2021
Hi everyone, just wanted to say a quick hi, as I've had quite a lot of enquiries recently about myself, and about my books. Sorry for the long absence in blogging but I have been very busy on several book projects! Rest assured all is fine here, I have now had my first Covid vaccine and hope we shall all be able to return to normal life before too long. I really miss getting out and meeting my readers in schools, libraries and bookshops and look forward to the day when we can safely return to this. Meanwhile, I'm offering virtual workshops and am currently taking names for my online Creative Writing course for adults, which has run three times during the lockdowns and hopefully will be starting a new eight-week run soon, with video tutorials and feedback available for the first time. So - get in touch if you're an aspiring novelist or short story writer!
During the pandemic, I have also been Children's Writer in Residence at the Stay at Home Literary Festival, have published a new book for middle-grade "The Treasure in the Tower" and five of my earlier MG books have just been republished as eBooks - "The Dinner Club and Other Stories," and books 2-5 in the Spirits series. Not surprisingly, eBook buying and borrowing have soared during lockdown periods! If you have read any of my books, please do leave a review and rating as Goodreads is such a good way to keep in touch with my readers in these difficult times.
It's a depressing era, and I feel more and more disheartened whenever I look at TV or online news and see more riots, more restrictions, more repressive government, more and more injustices not addressed, and more and more nastiness towards our fellow human beings being expressed on the Internet. All I can say is: let's be kind and constructive towards one another, as we prepare to enter a post-Covid world. I'd like the world to be like Goodreads, where all readers can meet together, irrespective of location, race, cultural background, gender, attitudes, beliefs or anything else, and in a spirit of generosity and friendship. Let's build a better world for ourselves, instead of trying to tear down what we have or declare war on fellow members of the human race, on the grounds of perceived slights past or present. Because in the end, as readers and writers, I think we should seek always to advocate tolerance, openness, understanding and mutual respect.
That off my chest, I send my very best wishes to all my readers, of all ages. Stay safe and well and let's meet again as soon as we safely can.
