I’m Not Called Danderma for Nothing…
There is a good reason I chose Danderma as my nickname -many good reasons actually-. The main reason however is my never ending relationship with ice cream. I can proudly say that I am totally, hopelessly, ruthelessly, head-over-heels in love with anything ice cream.
Summer is here, so we went out to the Co-op and renewed our ice cream stash that has been depleted since last winter.
I am Danderma, and I’m addicted to all types of ice cream -and frozen yogurts- :)
Is there anything better than ice cream on a smoldering summer day?
If you ask me about my favorite ice cream though, I cannot answer you. I have many favorites but I still have to make up my mind. Its propably this one, this famous one that’s is associated with me all the time, my trademark. The 99 Flake.
I love ice cream
My New Chain Camera Strap
On instagram the other day I saw a chain not unlike chanel’s bag chain handles, to be attached to your cameras and hung around your neck, sold by The Yard. I immediately wen online and ordered myself one.
Hours later my new camera chain was in my hand in the little paper bag from The Yard. There were many chain colors to choose from but I chose the silver and blue since it suits my wardrobe the most. Since I couldn’t possibly take a picture with my camera of my camera with the chair, here is what it would look like when the chain strap is on.
Now at least when I wear my camera on my shoulder I can do so in style, instead of using the ugly canon strap that makes me look like a wedding photographer. I wonder if I can attach hooks to my mobile and wallet and have them dangle from my camera strap? We’ll try and see.
You can buy a similar camera strap from The Yard’s website (here).

Book Review: The Two Weeks Wait by Sarah Rayner
The first book I read by Sarah Rayner, One Moment One Morning, was very good. It was sad but it had a certain type of story that people can identify with. The ending was good and provided a kinda happily ever after ending. You can read my review here (post).
When I was last in the UK I looked for more books by Sarah Rayner, only to find that she had written a second book, kinda like a sequel, to the first one. The second book was called “The Two Weeks Wait” and of course I grabbed it and it made the top of my books to read list, which is getting quite lengthy btw.
I came back from the UK in March. I started reading the book right away. We are near the end of May… and I still haven’t finished the book.
I give up. I tried. I usually force myself to read so and so books in hope they get better in the end, maybe a different twist? But by doing so I would be hiding from a very obvious reality: Even if the ending was good, the book is boring! BORING! I can’t read it. I cannot engage in it. It tells the story about how someone who now suddenly decides to have a baby after a uterus illness scare and she is running out of time and in the same time trying to give her eggs to another couple where the woman just got out of cancer which killed off her ovaries but her uterus is still OK.
First off, I totally cannot relate to it. The situation of sharing eggs and finding donors and what’s not is an alien world to me. Secondly, what happened to the story line from the first book? Its all but diminished. If any of the old characters do appear they are totally dull and now we have to be introduced to the other couple too. It could have been more interesting, but It wasn’t.
Therefore, I am putting it down. I give up. Two months trying to force myself to read through the pages of the same book? I began flipping through the pages in the end. That’s it. The first book wasn’t the best book of the century but it was a pretty good one, quite interesting and everyone can identify with it. The second however is meh and the best thing about it is that it had a pretty cover.
Totally not recommended and up for grabs in the next Saturday Garage Sale insah2 Allah.
Picture of the Week: A Sad Sign
Six days ago Solo Pizza Neapolitan completed its first anniversary. Its only been a year but it feels like my favorite local pizzeria has been there for a life time. And whenever I am there I dread seeing the sign above on the door stating they have ran out of dough before their closing time, which happened to me more than once before, alas it means they are doing good for themselves.
Happy anniversary Solo Pizza Napulitana! You’ve changed the pizza scene in Kuwait for good. Wishing you many happy returns, keep up the good work
If you haven’t tried them still -which frankly I find unbelievable y3ni, shna6reen?- You can find out more about them from their website (link) or by following them on twitter (@solopn) or instagram (@solopn).
My PBF Bowls are Here…
Last week a knock on my door came and a white bag was handed to me. Once I took a look at the logo on the sticker I got giddy with excitement, my order from Pieces by Farah was here!
I’ve placed two orders on two separate expos for some of the accessories with the plastic lace detailing, once was an order of tea cups and the second was an order for bowls that would accompany the tea cups in the tray. So what did I get first?
I got the bowls! The ones I ordered in PLTQ8 expo (post). One in green and one in orange.
Ooh those are scrumptious! Now why on earth didn’t I get some more? The neon ones are gnawing at my poor heart. I want them :’( They are not very big, enough to fit an alphonso mango :p
I can’t wait till I receive my tea cups order. Then I will assemble them all on my tray, give them a try, and get some neon ones to match. I am pretty sure neon would complement them beautifully, I just have to see the big picture
You can order those gorgeous bowls and more gorgeous items online from Pieces by Farah’s website (link).

Review: Fat Burger’s Breakfast
Around two weeks ago I received an invitation to try Fat Burger’s new breakfast menu. I wanted to go but I then I got sick and days passed and not until last weekend did we get the chance to finally do so.
The breakfast timing is from 7 am till 11:30 am. We went to the Burj Jassim branch.
The menu wasn’t that big. English muffins or buns made as breakfast sandwiches. Pancakesc, and three kinds of eggs with OJ and hot beverages. We placed our order and waited for it to be prepared.
First we got the drinks, Orange juice and coffee.
Then came our orders. Egg & Cheese in an English Muffin.
The omelet with hashbrowns.
The omelet came with a side of muffins, jam, and butter.
We dug in…
How was the food? It was good. The omelet was good albeit it was a bit too big with 3 eggs but good nonetheless. My muffin was good but I didn’t like the bread of the muffin it self. It was 1- too big and too round and 2- a bit too hard when the muffin is supposed to be more chewy and 3- had too much cornmeal which sprayed around everywhere with each bite. It was too messy.
I think if they change the muffin it would be much better. Its not bad, it just can be better.
Our check came to be 7.250 KD which was OK but we kept checking the price of the Orange Juice… is it really 1.150 KD? If it is, then its too expensive for a cup of OJ to be frank. Eshda3wa?
Fat Burger is located in Burj Jassim (Kuwait City) and in Spoons (down north). They serve breakfast from 7-11:30 AM now. If you like diner style breakfast you may want to give them a try.
Janjefa Kuwaitia from Circus BC
Last week I received a package from Circus BC, a PR firm who specializes in advertising, branding, web design, and more.
Inside the package was what they called “Janjefa Kuwaitia”. Janjefa is the Kuwaiti name for a playing deck of cards. I was intrigued, how would it be Kuwaitia?
When the name Kuwaitia is thrown you usually expect tan colors or something red black and green. Maybe a camel some where with dallat coffee.Sadu patterns. I didn’t expect purple and blacks in a hip design.
The playing cards were of a very light material -which is very good- and the graphics on them were awesome.
How is it Kuwaiti exactly? This is how.
’7al, maykar, the Kuwaiti names of the janjefa written in Arabic and incorporated into the cards designs.
Notice the colors? Not the classic black and red, rather purple and black. Nice.
My favorite card? The Joker!
On the back of the janjefa box is a brief introduction of the company . This is a good idea for branding, sending out customized deck of card with intros on the back of the box. Maybe even event or birthday invitations, why not?
Thank you Circus BC media. The janjefa really is weneesa indeed. It sure beats the dull plastic branded Janjefa we used to get from various companies in the old days.
You can purchase this Janjefa online for your next kout bu 6 game from Fortune Cookie Boutique Online Store (link).
For more information regarding Circus BC who made this janjefa you can visit their website (link) or follow them on twitter (@circus_bc) or on Instagram (@circusbc).

Mini Cup Carryall from Koziol
The other day I was in Sultan Center looking at Koziol’s quirky stuff when I noticed these. They said they were a cup carryall that can be attached to a cup of something to hold snacks.
There were three colors: Lime green, purple, and black. I got myself a couple of lime greens and a couple of purples to try. How do they exactly work? This is how.
You place them either at the handle of the cup or at the side of the cup. Fill them with whatever you want to eat with your drink but don’t have the plate/space for, or maybe your tea bag and some of that crystallized sugar on a stick?
add tea bag of your choice or with whatever you are planning to drink.
Add the hot water, it won’t affect nor touch the little carryall.
It is one fun little carryall! Brilliant! Hands down one of the best quirky home items I’ve bought recently. If you are in TSC Shaab you might want to grab some yourself.
Teaser: Guess Who? The Name Begins With a D… ;)
Its… Dathra! Shraykom feha? Still a little shy and won’t come out completely. I promised that by mid May I’d have an announcement regarding Dathra. Well, look at the picture above? Guess who that is :p
Yes, Dathra fans, the book is coming out so soon. Now I have a Dathra I can gaze at thanks to the talented f2o who is also a Dathra fan! However, I cannot maintain a blog + finish out the book in time for the summer holidays therefore I will be on hiatus for around a week to ten days. I have scheduled some posts for those ten days but I will not be able to approve/reply on all comments or emails or post about new things as I am putting all my energy into Dathra’s book 2 release.
Stay tuned… ma boga shay! See you soon insha2 Allah
