I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and now I live not far from my birth place in Perry Hall, Maryland. I have two teenage daughters and a man that keep me busy when I'm not working full-time as a Certified Medical Coder. I'm an avid reader and I love all genre of romantic fiction from historical to contemporary to paranormal. “You can do this. I want you to skate alone around the rest of the way.”

“No, I’m scared.”

“Trust me, Maddie. You've got to trust me. I’ll be right behind you.”

“What if I fall?”

“I can skate faster than you can fall,” he whispered, and Maddie closed her eyes against the shiver that enveloped her body. He gave her a little push and she began to skate, dreading the moment he would let go. And of course, he did let go, hanging back to give her room to skate ahead.

The girls at the window were rapt, whispering and giggling quietly as they watched their hero skate with his new girlfriend. Even some of his teammates stopped near the locker room door to watch the arena and the attention Jack was paying to the pretty girl in the pink sweater.

Maddie could barely breathe.

God, I have to do this. Trust Jack. Don’t let me fall!

Slowly, carefully, Maddie took the curve at the far end of the oval rink, concentrating on looking smooth and capable. She didn't dare wonder if Jack was still behind her, or how far away he was. She kept her eyes on the exit door. She was doing fine until the sound of an engine, a loud sound akin to that of a giant lawnmower, pervaded the rink and startled Maddie from her ice exhibition. Abruptly she turned her head in the direction of the sound, and the break in concentration disrupted her momentum, making her off-balance and wobbly.

Instantly she looked down at her skates, trying to get back into rhythm, but it was too late. She tried to remember how to drag the toe of her skate to brake, and in doing so made herself even more insecure. Terror filled her head. Oh no, I’m going down!

The thought did not even fully cross her mind and Jack was with her, his arms not merely grasping her waist but wrapped fully around her, the heat of his chest warming her back and shoulders. Looking forward, Maddie realized they were only a few feet away from the rink door.

They slowed to a stop, but still he held her, his lips close to her ear.

“Now, is there anything more I can do to earn your trust?” he whispered before kissing her neck briefly. He waited patiently for her to catch her breath, to calm down from her scare.

Maddie closed her eyes. Jack’s show of affection was not lost on her, but she hesitated to acknowledge it for fear that she was over-reacting. Perhaps it was only in sympathy, a consolation for her pathetic performance. Taking a deep breath, she mentally forced aside the exhilarating feel of his lips against her skin. But she could not begin to slow the wild flutter in her chest.

“Just tell me, who is Sam Bony, and what is that awful noise?”
My Review of Ever and Always
Ever & Always has to be one of my favorite Anne Carter stories. It brings everything together for me and allowed me to fall in love with two of the characters that I wanted to know so much more about from the other books. Maybe it was because E & A was more romance that mystery. I love mysteries and loved the mysteries behind the other books in this series, but what can I say, I'm a romantic and love reading the romance aspects of the stories. I read Point Surrender and Cape Seduction awhile ago and loved them, but when I read Ever and Always and found out what great people Jack and Maddie are, I was thrilled. And yes, they must be real people, because they just came across that way for me. Ms. Carter, a master at story telling, made them real. I know they exist somewhere and I would love to meet them and be friends. Jack and Maddie's story solidified this series for me. Being a hockey fan, I loved that Jack played hockey and I loved the way he related with Maddie's young son. I won't give anything away about Sam (haha) only a true hockey fan will pick up on that one. The way Jack gains Maddie's trust has to be one of the most fun and romantic ways I've ever thought possible. (read the excerpt). Great story. Great prequel to a fantastic series.

“Great to see ya Ronan, what you been up to?” Gabe asked with a cheeky grin.
“Uhm, hi,” Peri managed to get out, her eyes taking in the sight of this man-mountain in front of her. His light brown hair was a little messy but she wasn’t sure if that was just the way he wore it or if he had been running his hands through it. His eyes were dark brown and she saw a little sparkle there, his smile making it all the way into his eyes. He didn’t seem to be a threat, both of her men obviously knowing him, but jeez he was downright scary.
“Oh I’m fine Gabe, just fine. Catching the bad guys as usual,” Ronan said, still with a smile as he sat down on one of the sofas.
“You didn’t answer my question, what are you doing here?” Josef asked, still standing stiffly. It wasn’t normal for Ronan to just drop by, and as he was Director of the SEB he guessed it had to do with what had happened at Daiki’s dojo.
“Ever the graceful host, Josef. What do I need to do to get a drink around here?” Ronan laughed.
Josef poured a large measure of his best whisky and gave it to Ronan as he moved past to sit on his own chair. He kept his eyes on his young Vampire, well, young compared to him. Ronan was over three hundred years old – a baby compared to Josef.
“So guys, I was in the area ...”
Gabe snorted. “Yeah right. I’m sure your office is in Denver, or thereabouts.”
“Okay, you got me, I was ... intrigued ... yes that’s the word, intrigued by what happened in San Francisco and the information that you had a mate – to both of you. Now that was something I just had to see for myself. A mate to both a Vampire and a Wolf? Now I see you sitting here with the lovely Peri on your lap, well I have to say Wolf, I’ve never seen you looking happier and you are the most beautiful Witch I've ever come across.” Ronan ended with a wide smile, his gaze still locked on the female on Gabe’s knee.
Gabe did something that none of them expected ... he growled, low, deep down in his throat and gave a feral snarl to go along with the growl.

Domestic violence doesn’t only happen to married women.
Amber Garza breaks out with Break Free, an unexpected dark and edgy tale. Break Free is my favorite of Amber Garza’s so far. Jade and Kyler are so easy to love. The plot is intense with a surprising twist. Truly masterful.
I loved the idea of making Kyler a writer. Amber did an awesome job with portraying that life style. I've read other stories where the author has a writer as one of the main characters, but they never gave a great sense of what that life style is actually like. Amber knows, and wrote it to perfection. Her writing is wonderful. I don't read descriptions too often, because I don't like spoilers, and didn't read this one, so I didn't know that he was a writer until I'd already gotten swept into Jade's story, an abused and beaten young girl. I give Break Free 5 hearts for a great story and great writing.

I find her flushed cheeks flattering, and a bit sexy.“Sorry, Kain…” Penny says, finding my stare again. “That’s Tina, my best friend…umm…but you know that…” She is completely flustered now.“Yeah, I remember you mentioning her once or twice,” I tease, softly. This was a really nice surprise. A hot and steamy romantic collaboration from two awesome authors.

There are many twists in the story, but I loved how the story was actually about two authors writing a book together. It sort of made it seem real for me. In fact, I had a hard time not picturing both of these authors in the staring roles, as I've seen their pictures, and well ...

I loved the story so much, particularly the suspenseful ending, which I won't tell you. The only thing prevented a 5 star rating was that I felt the editing could have been a little tighter, but other than that this book is a winner and I recommend it to everyone who loves romantic mysteries.
