#HumpDayHook – Rachel’s idea of Romance in Alien Adoration #scifirom #sfrb #AlienNextDoor
Hello and thanks for coming to visit! Here’s another excerpt from Alien Adoration,
which I’m hoping to release (indie) on May 10, 2013.
She studied the water stain on her ceiling, visible by the light of the street lamp. Yet another thing she couldn’t afford to fix. If a man offered to fix her roof for her, she’d find that romantic, and break her first date rule. But did any guy know the meaning of romance anymore? Surely no one from Hanton. The small town boasted the highest rate of divorce in the province due to extramarital affairs. No one in town got married anymore, expecting all vows to be broken within the first year. Those of her classmates who’d been lucky enough to move away bragged of their success in both their marriages and their careers.
Rachel hadn’t had the chance to move away. Thankfully, the view next door didn’t hurt. Though he would never be more than a fantasy. She wanted a relationship, not a one-night stand.
If you didn’t see it last week, here’s the trailer created by JoAnne Kenrick:

Guest Post by @Cassandra_Carr – Writing my 1st Male/Male Book

5 interesting things about writing
my first male/male book
by Cassandra Carr
In late February Loose Id released my first male/male book, See the Light. I wasn’t sure how similar my experience being an author of m/m stories would be. After all, it’s not like I was journeying into murder mysteries or something. But there have been some differences, and interesting things have happened.
1. Wow, is male/male popular! I’ve got somewhat of a following for my m/f books, but I figured I would have a discoverability problem when I released See the Light. Not so. It’s sold very well and I’m pleased as punch! (On a side note, what does that phrase mean?)
2. Readers have strong opinions about male/male stories. I’m not saying they don’t in relation to m/f books, but there have some pretty spirited debates over the relative merits and perceived problems in See the Light.
3. There’s a whole community of male/male readers. And while some do cross over into other subgenres, many don’t. They read m/m and nothing else. And most of those readers are straight females.
4. The straight females mentioned above really like covers with two hot guys. This did not surprise me. But they really get on covers that they feel misrepresent the subgenre or are cheesy. Tough crowd. Good thing I have one of those “two hot guys” covers!
5. When readers decide they like you, they want MORE MORE MORE. A couple of days after release they were asking me if I was going to write a sequel. No pressure though.
This has been an eye-opening experience for me, but also a whole ton of fun. I can’t wait to write and release the second book in the series and see how that one is received.
What differences or interesting things have you found as a reader of male/male books?

Hockey player Jason Monroe lives a double life—star defenseman and soon-to-be Olympian on the ice and closeted gay man outside the rink. A serious relationship is out of the question, and Jason makes do with anonymous sex in barroom bathrooms, not willing to take the chance on coming out as gay in a decidedly macho sport.
Advisor to the US Olympic hockey team Patrick Parker knows a thing or two about being a professional hockey player who’s not out. He’s fifteen years older than Jason, and when he senses the sexy younger man is interested, he knows he shouldn’t give in to the attraction. The two men can’t keep their hands off each other, though, and with each heated encounter it gets harder to hide their relationship. Then their world blows up around them, forcing them into the limelight. Will their love survive or be put on ice?

Back List Blast – An Unexpected Return by Jessica E. Subject #erotic #scifi #romance
Hello! Welcome to the first Back List Blast post of April. Today I want to tell you about my sixth release, An Unexpected Return. I was asked to write a sci-fi erotic romance story to be one of the launch stories for Decadent Publishing‘s sci-fi line, Elatia. An Unexpected Return is the story I came up with, and it released on May 30, 2012.
Xia trailed her hand down the Mikashe mannequin’s scaly thigh.
Twenty minutes. Far less than the allotted time. If she could maintain the same speed with live clients, perhaps life as an Adamo wouldn’t be so bad.
She slid off the bed. All she wanted was to leave the Schola Calei and go home to rest. The practice session had followed hours of theory on the erogenous zones of all of the species permitted on Elatia. Applying the lessons to a pretend client had at least gotten her off her ass, but she could no longer think straight, her mind too numb to do anything but sleep.
“Done already, Xia?”
Spinning on her heels, she faced Jacobus, the muscular Elatian man—an Echelon Four Adamo—who trained her and several other Echelon Ones in the art of erotic massage. If he hadn’t been like a father figure to her, she’d swoon over him like the rest of her classmates did. During their lessons, he wore only loose-fitting pants made of filmy veech, which exposed his golden, god-like body to his students. Sometimes, to illustrate his lessons of a male’s erogenous zones, he’d strip down to nothing. On those days, she tried to listen more than look. Creaming her panties over her instructor was not all right. What would Kalara say?
Xia knew there was something going on between the two of them. He spent a lot of time at the house of her guardian and mentor. But she’d never seen them touch each other intimately, and he stayed away when Kalara entertained clients. If only she could figure out their relationship.
“Yes, I completed every step.” Even swallowing the warm, briny, fake ejaculation. Although she’d heard the real thing tasted worse.
Grabbing her tubes and bottles of eletin massage oils and creams, she packed them away in her appointment bag. Her own bed called to her.
With an intense stare, Jacobus set his hand on her shoulder. “There is never a need to rush with clients. You’re more likely to gain repeat customers if you take your time and prolong their pleasure.”
She nodded. “I’ll make note of that. Thank you.” Yeah, slow down. How could she be a proper Adamo if she always tried to finish as soon as possible? Quick Xia—that was her. But she wouldn’t bring any honor to Kalara and Jacobus if she maintained that mindset.
“Great.” He smiled, creases forming in the corners of his mouth. “Because you have your first appointment tonight.”
What? “But I’m only Echelon One. I can’t take clients yet.”
He stepped back and turned to the entire class. “This practical exam was your final test. You’re all now Echelon Two. There’s more to learn, but it’s about time you put your lessons into practice. You’ll all have appointments soon.”
Yes, but why do I have to be the first one? She gulped. “Um, what am I supposed to bring? Where do I go?”

Book Spotlight: Love In One Night by @RebeccaRoyce #prepper #romance

Love In One Night
by Rebecca Royce
Melanie is a woman who prepares for disasters. If the world as she knows it were to come grinding to a disastrous halt, her Sustainable Living Community will be ready and able to take care of the people in their area. She doesn’t have a man in her life anymore but she has her daughter and that’s enough.
Until a tall, dark stranger drives into her life.
Griffith is on a mission to find Melanie’s ex-husband Victor, who has stolen a very expensive new drug from a pharmaceutical company. Griffith is a man who can find what others can’t. He never backs down from a fight and he’s never afraid until he sees Melanie. She steals his breath and makes him wish for things he’s never wanted before.
They are two people who can prepare for everything except the depths of their own need for each other.
Available From:
Decadent Publishing | Amazon
Excerpt:
“I married him because I got pregnant.” She put her hands on her hips. “And I won’t take his money because I won’t take money from the pharmaceutical companies. No offense.”
“Gee, why would I take offense when you meant to insult me?” Melanie’s face turned a lovely shade of cherry as he spoke.
“Truth is, I meant to say something nasty about Victor. I forgot, momentarily, what you do and who you do it for.”
He shrugged like he words hadn’t stung a bit. The pharmaceutical companies did both good and bad things. Griffith didn’t have to feel one-hundred-percent comfortable all the time to still know he worked on the right side of the law.Love in One Night 7
“Theft is theft. I give them back things they’ve lost.” He moved along the edge of the room. Melanie must be organized. Everything had a label, down to the box holding sponges. “And I’d bet when you get a headache, you take a Tylenol.”
“I’d try magnesium and zinc, but your point is taken. I shouldn’t be generalizing. I don’t like when it’s done to me.”
Griffith had to get out of there before he did anything really asinine, like give the blushing woman a hug. He pulled out his card. “If you hear from Victor or you think of anything, give me a call. I’ll be staying in Austin overnight.”
“Right.” She took his card. “I’m sorry you had to come all the way down here for nothing.”
“I’m not.” Her eyes widened, and he had a moment of sheer male satisfaction. He’d been able to shock her.
“You haven’t asked me why I do this. Why I’m so prepared for a disaster? You haven’t asked. Everyone does.”
“I’ve been a lot of places. I think preparing for things, even if they might never occur, makes pretty good sense. I guess we all have our own reasons for why we do what we do.”
She bit down on her lower lip, chewing on it as she regarded him with narrowed eyes. “So you want to know why I married Victor but not why I formed a whole community dedicated to organic farming in the desert, self-sustaining living, and disaster preparedness?”
“Melanie, if you want to tell me, I’d be really amenable to hearing.” Anything she wanted to say would be fine by him. She could read the phone book aloud, and he’d sit like a good little boy and listen to her.
“Maybe I could. Over dinner tonight.”
His heart skipped a beat. Had she actually asked him out? His mouth opened and closed. When he’d gotten off the plane in Austin, he’d had no idea he’d be stepping onto a sustainable farm, a converted bomb shelter, and asked to dinner by a hot redhead.

Book Spotlight: Being Amber by Sylvia Ryan #scifirom
Being Amber
by Sylvia Ryan
Both danger and sex are inescapable in the Amber Zone.
Jaci Harmon was born a Sapphire, but after she’s summoned to receive her final designation, the testing reveals she carries a gene slated for eradication. Within a day, she’s sterilized and dumped in the Amber Zone, where the damaged are corralled away from the rest of New Atlanta. Scared and alone, Jaci would rather die than face her future as an Amber.
Born in the Amber Zone, Xander Dimos is a product of a lifetime spent under the oppression of the Repopulation Laws. Decades of suffering have taught the Ambers to make the zone a place where touch, sex, and unconditional acceptance ease the pain of their fate. Jaci has a lot to learn about her new home, and it’s Xander’s responsibility to guide her through the differences and the dangers safely.
With the simmering undercurrents of sexual chemistry growing between them, and in the midst of discovering the Gov’s true motives, Jaci and Xander must overcome his secret and accept their love as undeniable…even if the time allotted to share it is short.
CONTENT WARNING: This title contains explicit sex, graphic language, ménage a trios, use of sex toys, and anal sex.
Excerpt:
“Why didn’t you just let me die?” she whispered.
“Because you’re mine to take care of now.” He leaned in close so that his lips were brushing her ear. “It’s okay to stumble and fall. I’ll be here to catch you. I’ll take care of you Jaci, I promise.”
Xander squeezed the words out through a tight throat and then sat on the edge of the bed. He settled her in his lap and tucked her into him, wrapping his arms around her to keep her warm and let her know she was safe. After a few beats of stillness, Jaci started shaking her head. Almost imperceptibly at first, but within seconds, a sob escaped her. “I don’t want this. Let me die next time,” she cried. “Please. Please,” she sobbed. “I don’t want to feel like this. I don’t want to feel it anymore.”
“That’s enough,” Xander growled. “I don’t want to hear any more of this. I’m going to take care of you, Jaci. I’ll help you chase the pain away. We’ll do it together.”
About the Author:
As an avid reader, I’m always on the hunt for that next amazing story. Those unforgettable books with the perfect balance of action and passion are hard to find and even harder to write. My hope is that Being Amber has given readers a few hours of happiness while they savor the gradual discovery of each character and how their story unfolds. I usually fall in love with the hero and heroine in the books I write by the time I’ve written the last page. If I’ve done my job well, you’ve fallen in love, too. So many times I find myself not wanting a book to end. I crave more of the story, wanting to know what happens after the happily ever after. If you’re like me and want to read more about Xander and Jaci, the epilogue to Being Amber is posted on my website at www.RyanBooks.net. Stop in and find out how their story ultimately ends before moving on to Jordan’s story in Being Sapphire. And from the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading.

#HumpDayHook – An excerpt from Alien Adoration #sfrb #scifi #romance #AlienNextDoor
Good day! I’m excited to present to you another excerpt from Alien Adoration,
which I’m hoping to release (indie) on May 10, 2013.
What she wouldn’t give to experience an evening with him. She rolled her eyes. No, never going to happen. Putting out on the first date led to one night stands. And sex on the second night didn’t hold much promise for a long-term relationship, based on her past experiences. One month of seeing Dirk Chambers, the grocery store manager, and she still hadn’t slept with him. Maybe if he didn’t wind up drunk on every single date, she might consider it. Though his suggestions of making out in the bathroom of the local pub, and in the back seat of his car did not appeal to her. So not how she wanted their first time together to be. Those places were fine for the second round of sex and beyond. But, for the first time, she wanted romance, to be swept off her feet.
And here’s the trailer created by JoAnne Kenrick:
