Autumn Chill

It's that time again. Cool mornings, warm(ish) afternoons, nippy evenings, and overnight frost warnings. Leaves turning. Apples falling. Pumpkins everywhere. Halloween displays and candy all over the grocery store. Autumn in New England!

I love it. It's one of my favorite times of year. But it leads to… da duun daaaaa (cue sinister music) winter: the season I love for about two weeks until the first snowfall and then loathe with every fiber of my being. My daughter adores winter. Her genes ...

What Are You Watching?

Fall means new TV shows. I used to love getting the Fall Preview TV Guide with all the new show listings. But new shows aren't trotted out the way they used to be, with lots of fanfare and all competing for the audience in those first few weeks of September. Now new shows start all year round and even new season programming doesn't all kick off in the same week. It makes it easier to try new shows, but it makes it harder to decide what to watch when they all happen to make it onto the...

I don't get this

I don't usually get caught up in things like this, but last night I was watching Nightline—admittedly with one eye and ear, as I was sort of working—and there was this bit about Roman Polanski being arrested in Switzerland.  They had an old interview with him in which he said he made a huge mistake in raping a 13 year-old more than thirty years ago, and he realizes this now.  And then they had a couple of celebrities on who wanted him to be set free in Switzerland.  I don't even remember...

Anybody watching? I can't believe I'm still up late and watching on Saturdays, when it's live. I don't watch the reruns. Why? Because by then I realize that I wasted a whole hour and a half on the show once and it wasn't funny so why do it again? Aha! Smart. But not smart enough to stop watching every week when it's live and expecting it to be funny every time only to be let down 90 % of the time.

We can probably credit the 10 % success rate to people who aren't even regular cast members: ...

Best dressed? I loved Drew Barrymore. Old-fashioned glamour, pretty color, she looks lovely.
