ReleaseDaySaleGraphic

I’m happy to have Peggy Sue Martinez today with the release of the third book in her Time Warper Series, Eventuality. You can pick up the first book for free, the second for only .99 and the third for 2.99 for a today ONLY:

Excerpt from Eventuality:

I stepped closer to the mirror, my eyes wide as I studied my reflection. My pants were made of the softest and thinnest navy blue silk I’d ever seen. They were wide legged and hung on me perfectly, accenting my back-side, but falling loose and comfortable just in case I need to throat-kick someone. I smiled. My top was truly something to behold. Made of the same shimmery blue fabric, the corset-like top wasn’t constricting in any way. It fit me like a glove and yet I felt like I was wearing nothing at all. The straps were two inches wide and soft as velvet. Tiny clock Eventuality.v3.2-NewFont-1cogs and parts were meticulously sewn into the neckline and the hem of the corset, giving it a unique look that screamed one-of-a-kind. I felt the extra fabric between my shoulder blades and gasped when I knew exactly what had been sewn there. Perfect slots for the twin blades I’d brought with me from the human realm. I hadn’t even brought them to her shop and yet the little, old faerie woman had known.

If my outfit was a marvelous invention, it had nothing on what the faeries had done with my makeup and hair. My eyes had been darkened as had been my lashes, but the real artwork began after the basics. There was such intricate drawings around my eyes in indigo blue, that at first glance and from a distance you’d think I was wearing a mask across my eyes. The pattern was tiny and mimicked my warper tattoos. Bad ass for sure. Some light dust had been swiped across my shoulders, making my newly-glowing tattoos stand out even more starkly against my skin and the deep blue of my outfit. My hair was left loose, but by miracles of miracle the curls were soft and perfect, not the frizzy mess they usually were. Somehow the faeries had managed to weave tiny clock parts into my hair, bringing my entire look together like magic. I smiled widely at my reflection and then turned to the bed and picked up my twin blades. I slid them effortlessly into my corset and turned to the remaining fae.

Chained (Chained Trilogy Book 1)

Author: Elise Marion

Genre: Medieval/Fantasy Romance

Word Count: 90,000

Publisher: Marion Press

Cover Art by: Najla Qamber Designs

Blurb: House Toustain … House Maignart … two royal houses once embroiled in a bloody feud … Thirty years of peace now broken in an instant …

Sir Caden Maignart has been captured, beaten, locked in a dungeon, and wrongfully accused of kidnapping and oath-breaking. Determined to free himself and his men, and clear his besmirched name, Caden does not count on the willful nature of his captor, Lady Gwendolyn Toustain, the daughter of the man who was once his father’s mortal enemy. After several attempts at escape, the lady orders him bound and chained to a wall in her chambers—where he will remain under her personal guard at all times and kept from conspiring with his men. While the lady’s high-handedness infuriates him, Caden cannot deny that everything else about her drives him to distraction. Forced into close proximity with her, Caden soon finds it hard to remember his mission of escape.

When Lady Gwendolyn of House Toustain first lays eyes on her prisoner, one thing about him is abundantly clear: Sir Caden of Daleraia is a dangerous man. Yet, she must show him no fear. The captured band of knights from Daleraia are her only clue in the mystery surrounding the disappearance of House Toustain’s sons, and it falls to Lady Gwen to seek justice. Is this kidnapping merely the ploy of mercenaries out for a ransom? Or has Sir Caden acted on the order of the High Lord of Daleraia and broken the peace? As she searches for the answers, she never expects the surge of passion that ignites between herself and her prisoner. The longer he remains in her clutches, the more Gwen realizes that though she has him chained, she is the one who has been captured.

Excerpt:

Kneeling in front of him, she forced herself to meet his gaze. “You are quite a rabble-rouser, aren’t you?” she said gently, sympathy pricking her as she observed his beaten and bloody face up close.

He smirked despite his split lip. “Aye, wench. Did you think you could keep me in your cells forever?”

Gwen shook her head slowly. “No, I suppose not. What am I to do with you, Daleraian?”

His lips split into a blinding smile, and for a moment, Gwen was taken aback. Despite his battered face, she had to grudgingly admit that the man had magnetism. His smile was disarming. “I could think of a few things, wench,” he murmured, his eyes lowering to the neckline of her kirtle.

Gwen’s jaw clenched, but she reminded herself of her vow to remain calm. “My steward thinks I should kill you.”

He scowled. “Your steward sounds like an idiot.”

Espan huffed and stammered in outrage at that, and Gwen stifled a laugh. “He is my advisor, Sir,” she said. “My father’s as well. I heed his council in all things.”

“Heed mine,” he offered. “You don’t want to kill me. To do so would be a grievous error.”

Gwen’s eyebrows raised. “Why?”

“Suffice it to say that if I were gone, Lord Theodric would miss me … enough to send thousands of warriors to Seahaven’s gates.”

“Lord Theodric has already set his forces against Dinasdale. Do not think I have forgotten that.”

The knight’s jaw ticked. “I have already told you, we played no part in the atrocities committed in Heywick.”

Gwen shrugged. “Forgive me if I’m not inclined to release you with only your word as evidence. I need more than that.”

“Then let me go,” he growled, his voice low, “and I will prove it. Keep my men as collateral, and I will return for them when I bring evidence of our innocence.”

“I think not. You’ve been nothing but trouble since you arrived at Seahaven, Sir. I am within my rights to have you executed, but I am not inclined to just yet. You will remain my captive until I am ready to release or ransom you, but you will not return to the dungeons.”

The gaoler snapped to attention at that. “And just where do you s’pose I’m t’ keep him if not in the dungeons?”

Gwen stood and turned to face him. “This prisoner is no longer in your care. You have more than proven your ineptitude where he is concerned. He has nearly escaped you several times, and bested your guards at that.”

Espan stepped forward, his brow furrowed in confusion. “Milady, what are you saying?”

“I want him shackled to that wall, there.”

Espan and the gaoler followed her extended arm and pointing finger. Both men glanced back at her in disbelief. “Milady,” Espan protested. “Surely you do not mean—”

“But I do,” Gwen said brusquely. “My mother always said the best way for a woman to see something done, is to do it herself. The Daleraian is now in my guard. I want iron rings installed into that wall immediately. He shall remain under my personal guard, where he cannot conspire with his men to escape. There are no guards for him to assault here … no one here but me.”

Espan stuttered and stammered for a full minute before gaining his composure. “Milady, begging your pardon, but it is hardly proper.”

Gwen’s nostrils flared as she turned on the man. “Am I not castellan here? Do I not speak with the voice of the high lord?”

“A-aye, milady,” Espan sputtered. “You do, but it is my duty to advise you in all things.”

“And so you did,” Gwen said, turning her back on him. “I have made my decision and I will be obeyed. This Daleraian poses no threat to me in irons. In this way, I can be sure that he causes no further harm to our guards, and has no one around him with which to conspire.”

Espan inclined his head humbly, but doubt was still present in his eyes. “I will do whatever you command, milady, you know this.”

“Good,” Gwen said with a curt nod. “Then do as I’ve asked, immediately, and send for Lynet, I have need of her.”

Espan bowed again and retreated quickly, his surcoat swishing around his ankles. Gwen turned on the gaoler next. “Go, and take all but two of your guard with you. I want a watch set up just outside my doors, two sentries on each watch, day and night.”

The gaoler did her bidding as well, departing without protest. With only the two guards standing watch just outside her doors, Gwen was alone with the knight. She knelt before him again, reaching out toward his face. He flinched away, inhaling sharply as her fingers made contact with his jaw.

“Hold still!” Gwen chastised, gripping his chin firmly and forcing him to endure her inspection. “I must know if your face needs to be stitched. You’ve taken quite a beating.”

The Daleraian snorted dryly. “You should see the other men. Five against one, it was hardly a fair fight.”

“No,” Gwen agreed as she gently prodded his injuries, wincing at the large gash torn just above one dark eyebrow. “It was not well done of them.”

His eyes flashed mischievously as she met his gaze. “I meant, not fair to them.”

Hot Summer Nights Anthology

HotSummerNights-Ebook(1)COMING JULY 30

I’m very excited to be part of this Anthology that takes place on the mythical and mysterious tropical island of Dasia. The days are enchanting and the nights are hot.

Here is a little summary of each story in the book. Don’t forget to scroll down to enter to win books and swag!

Beauty and the Brain-Alicia Michaels

She’s a rich, spoiled brat. He’s a smarmy know-it-all. Chloe Sanders came to Dasia Island to lie on the beach and go to the spa. Chase Watkins is roughing in the rainforest with a research group, studying wildlife. The two couldn’t be more different, but in the swelter and mystery of the island, opposites just might attract.

The Laws of Attraction-Carly Fall

Criminal attorney Jared Greer cares about one thing: the next big case. He doesn’t think about right and wrong when taking on a client; he thinks of the paycheck and lives lavishly.

A potential client brings him to Dasia Island where he teams up with Monica, an island local. As they organize the case documents and explore the resort, their passion makes Jared reconsider his life, especially if he wants Monica in it.

The Art of Losing Inhibition-Casse NaRome

One man’s trash is another woman’s treasure.

Reeling from the loss of her husband to a carefree socialite, uptight Kennedy retreats to Dasia island for a little bit of R and R. Will she learn to let loose in the arms of Basil, the wild-child trust-fund baby with a silver tongue?

His Island Paradise-C.J. Baty

Gar Lancaster wasn’t depressed, no matter what his sister said. He didn’t need a trip to a tropical island to meet some guy for a vacation romance. But when Mike Peters kissed him on the balcony under a sea of stars with the pounding waves hitting the shore below them, things changed.

Maybe, he didn’t need a happily ever after. Maybe happily for right now would be okay. Whatever happened, Gar was pretty sure he was in way over his head.

 Life After Death-Elise Marion

The loss of their son in a tragic accident left Jameson and Victoria Blake’s marriage in tatters. Together they were never able to move past it, and they parted ways after a painful divorce. But in the wilds of the rainforest, the realization that love has never died between them will rise to the surface.

Layover-Kacey Hammell

Hand’s off. That’s Gemma Sands’ cardinal rule when it comes to dating co-workers. But she’d like to get her hands on Michael Harmon.

Michael has his own idea about where he’d like to put his hands. But Gemma’s steadfast rule means Michael simply admires from afar.

But when an unexpected layover on Dasia Island forces them to share tight quarters, they are unable to resist their passion, and finally surrender to every touch they desperately need.

Woman in the Mist-Natalie G. Owens

Garrick Kaili ‘Kai’ Langston, heir to the 5-star Euthykhia Hotel, remains on Dasia Island out of loyalty to his family. But this building harbors some dark secrets—unsolved mysteries that haunt one of its oldest residents.

Some say Poppy Drummond had been swallowed by the deadly mist near the Dasia ruins. Others claim such notions are merely the product of a crazy mind…

But Kai is just about to find out—the truth is never what it seems when the walls between fantasy and reality crumble down.

Guide me Gently-Peggy Martinez

Alyssa Monroe always dreamed of escaping to exotic locales as a photographer. Unfortunately, she’s spent the last four years capturing a truly frightening species with her camera instead. Celebrities. When the opportunity presents itself to visit the exotic Dasia Island, Alyssa is thrilled. Now if she can just deal with the only guide willing to take her deep into a forbidden forest. A sexy, tattooed local who sets her blood on fire and gets her camera finger itching

City of Sin-R.K. Ryals

On Dasia Island, there’s a legend about a city of sin, a tragic story that ended in a mist of death. Haven Ambrose is a Journalism major on a mission. River Brayden is a meteorologist with a tropical system to follow. Their love is strong, but is it strong enough to survive a storm that leaves them stranded them with an ancient evil?

#BringBackourGirls – All proceeds go to @CARE

Like you, I’m sickened by the kidnappings in Nigeria. I can’t fathom the fear of those girls, and the terror their families are feeling. Can you imagine being twelve, going to school to try to better yourself, and the next thing you know, there is a very real threat that you will be sold into slavery?

It’s terrifying.

CARE is an organization dedicated to ending gender-based violence. From their website:

In more than 30 countries around the world, CARE provides critical medical, legal, psychosocial and protection services to people experiencing violence (primarily women and girls), and provides local activists with assistance and support to link with others to provide case management to survivors, advocate for improved policies and laws, raise awareness and change local norms that perpetuate violent behavior.

And they do a lot of this by giving women and girls the opportunity to receive an education.

Lark grinned. So the studmuffin wasn’t used to women who dressed like her. Good. Made it all the more fun to entice them.

“I’m sorry, am I in the wrong office?”

“You’re here to see Bobby, correct?” She knew he was, but didn’t want to give the game away.

“Yes I am.”

“Then you’re in the right place.” She drew open the sides of the belt keeping her jacket closed. Working it apart in deliberate slow motion to heighten anticipation, she again instructed, “Have a seat. I don’t bite.” She smirked. “Unless you ask me to.”

He watched her, eyes bulging as she pushed the material off her shoulders and laid it over Bobby’s desk.

Shock and uncertainty flooded his eyes but was quickly replaced with interest and heat as he took in her scantily clad body.

Good. She liked his full attention on her.

“I’m not sure what’s going on here. Are you Bobby’s secretary?” She opened her mouth to speak but he raised a hand and ushered her to hush. “I’ve never seen a secretary look like you.”

She laughed, ignoring his question about her identity, and winked at him as he sat in the chair in front of Bobby’s desk. “Oh this old thing?” She gestured to her red silk croptop, her black lace bra showing through, and her crimson leather skirt, which was so short her panties would surely show if she bent over. “Just something I threw on this morning.” She moved in front of him and leaned her ass on the desk.

He grinned and stared up at her. “What can I do for you?”

“Oh honey.” She retrieved her cell phone. “Ask not what you can do for me.” She pressed the music button and selected her dance playlist. “But what I can do for you.”

Strains of a bass guitar filled the room and vibrated to her soul, begging her to succumb to the seductive rhythm.

Hips bumping from side to side, the beat of the music thumped in time with her heart. Standing tall, legs spread parallel to her shoulders, she let her body move.

“Holy hell,” he mouthed, perching to the edge of his seat and gripping the low arms of the chair.

Yes, she had him now.

V-Card by Alicia Michaels

VcardBlitz

I’m pleased to be able to welcome New Adult, Romance author Alicia Michaels to the blog! She’s celebrating the release of her newest book, V-CARD, out today! Enjoy the excerpt, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway before you leave. Good luck! :)

Excerpt from V-Card

My mission? To lose my stupid virginity by my twenty-first birthday … which is in two months. I canít very well go into the next phase of adulthood with my v-card. How can I honestly call myself a ëwomaní if I fidget, wheeze, and just about have a heart attack at even the thought of intimacy? Any guy I date is going to wonder what the hell is wrong with me.

So, itís happening. Iím not sure when, or with whoósince Iím not dating anybodyóbut Iím determined not to see twenty-one without shedding that one last thing keeping me at girl-status.

Drastic, much? I donít think so. Maybe if you knew some of my history, you wouldnít either. First, there was Jeremy Ö

My first attempt was as seventeen years old, senior year. It was like something out of a cheesy movie, making out in the back of a car after Homecoming at Lookout Point. Okay, so the place isnít called Lookout Point, but The Ridge is a cliff overlooking my small Texas hometown and people do go there to make out. Me and Jeremy had been dating for six monthsóa lifetime in TDT. Thatís Teenage Dating Time, by the way.

Anyway, things were getting pretty hot and heavy. The windows were steamed up and we had collapsed on to the backseat in a tangle of writhing arms and legs. Jeremy had me topless and was pretty much in teenage-dude heaven. I mean, I donít want to brag or anything, but Iíve got some pretty nice boobs. Not too big or anything; average size, but almost the perfect shape and symmetry. Although, with the lack of finesse Jeremy showed in handling them, I doubt he would have cared if one was three sizes bigger than the other, or if my nipples were two different colors.

That familiar tingle of horny teenage hormones was tearing me up inside, turning me into a panting, thoughtless animal. I guess that natural high was what made me bold enough to attempt my first B.J. I mean, how hard could it be? Itís not exactly rocket science.

At least, I didnít think it was. Apparently there is a science to it, especially when you wear braces. In my enthusiasm, I might have gone in a little too hard. I slipped, my face landed in his lap, and I almost unmanned him. To be fair, the wound was superficial, but there was so much blood youíd have thought someone was stabbed to death in the back of that car.

After dropping Jeremy off at the emergency room, I pretty much ended our relationship by ignoring him until graduation. He didnít seem to mind. After I mutilated his man-parts, I doubt he would have felt safe getting in the sack with me without some major life insurance.

Letís see, my next attempt came during my first semester of college, just a few months after my eighteenth birthday. Somehow, I managed to catch the eye of a teacherís aide. He was a graduate student working on his Masterís in Education. While he was officially considered ëfacultyí, the age gap wasnít that much and he was too gorgeous for me to be put off with teacher vibes. Slender with long legs and broad shoulders, ginger colored hair and green eyes peeking out from behind sleek, rectangular glasses. Alistair: even his name was sexy.

We traded a lot of smoldering looks across the classroom. Those looks turned into short conversations in passing. Some flirtations where our hands touched as we exchanged papers. One of those hand-touching exchanges led to me being propelled into an empty classroom.

Once again, the moment played out like something from a film. Alistair grabbed my ass and pulled me up against him, his lips crashing down over mine in a seductive move that left me swooning like an idiot. We tore at each otherís clothes, and as soon as he had my pants off, he lifted me and threw me onto a desk.

And right onto a stapler.

Youíre probably thinking the two staples I took to my left butt cheek would have been enough to end it, but apparently Iím a glutton for punishment.

ìIím okay, really,î I told him, pulling him in for a kiss.

ìYeah?î he asked, his smile crooked and sexy as he swept the contents of the desk aside to avoid any more injuries. ìIíve wanted this forever,î he said, his mouth tracing a path from my neck and down to places that made my toes curl. My only response was a whimper, as I allowed him to lay me back, struck dumb by his sex appeal as he rested his weight over mine on the desk.

This resulted in another trip to the E.R.

Whoíd have thought those classroom desks were so flimsy? It splintered as if it were made of matchsticks, dropping me to the floor, where I cracked the back of my head open on the tiles. A concussion and a few staples were enough to dampen that encounter. Luckily, Alistair did a good job covering up what weíd been about to do and no one was the wiser. When no one questioned his story about how heíd perched on top of the desk Iíd been leaning against, causing it to collapse, we were in the clear. I probably could have had a chance with Alistair after that if Iíd wanted it. Especially if the longing looks he threw my way were any indication. However, by then I was so freaked out about sex, I just couldnít bring myself to allow him to get me alone. At the end of the semester, he graduated and I never saw him again.

After that, I decided my first time was going to have to be more vanilla to avoid injury. Good ole missionary position, laying on a bed sex Ö that was the way to do it. My braces were long gone and office supplies couldnít impale me.

The chance came my sophomore year when I met Geoff, a moody, brooding art student. He was sexy in a less obvious way. Thin, long, and tall, with an ethereal face framed by inky black hair. He drew pictures of me and called me his muse. He was a total weirdo, but in an artsy sort of way. At least, I thought it was only in the artsy sort of way. He had me fooled for about four months and I thought I we were on our way to a long lasting relationship. That was before he got me half naked in his room and proceeded to try to tie me to the bed with a set of very scary looking leather straps. I donít think I even bothered to get dressed before I ran, screaming for the hills.

After that I pretty much gave up. There have been a few guys I was interested in, and even a couple of great first dates and kisses. Just a month ago, I went on a date with a guy from my Sociology class. He was cute, funnyóand, most importantlyónormal. Just the kind of guy I wouldnít mind giving my virginity to. Unfortunately, when our kisses started to turn in to something more, the twitching and wheezing started and I panicked. If Iím not careful Iím going to develop a reputation for this crap.

No, actually, Iím not.

Iím not, because Iím determined to just power through and do it.

The countdown is on.

60 days.

Oh God, I think Iím going to barf.

Excerpt 2014 by Carly Fall

The snow fell silently among the majestic trees, blanketing them and the earth below them in puffs of white. The air was as still as death, and Liam knew once he could breathe it in, his lungs would fill with iciness only a winter storm could bring. His breathing would hitch as he sucked in the frigid air, and his lips would feel like two small blocks of ice. His nose would become numb, his cheeks would burn while his body shook, and his skin crawled with goose bumps.

Fantastic.

“I hate being cold,” Liam mumbled as he touched down on the deck of a house on the shores of Lake Tahoe, California. His boots were immediately swallowed up by snow up to his mid-calf.

The redwood structure sat tucked among the looming pine trees; its floor-to-ceiling windows covered in blinds, and there had to be at least a foot of God-forsaken snow.

As an Angel of Death turned into an Angel of Affection, he had just landed for his next assignment. Adela folded her large black wings at her back. Evangeline did the same to her white wings.

“I don’t really remember the sensation of being cold,” Adela replied, tossing her long, golden hair over her shoulder.

Adela had been put to death during the Salem Witch Trials in 1692 and had been an Angel of Death ever since. Their last assignment was in a town called Litchfield Park, just outside of Phoenix, Arizona. It had been a balmy eighty degrees there.

As Angels of Death, both Adela and he were unable to feel the weather elements. It was like being wrapped in bubble wrap, or cocooned from the outside world. They were observers on Earth, not participants. As Angels of Affection, they became human again and felt everything a human would: the weather, hunger, the need for sleep, and the hundreds upon hundreds of mundane things humans took for granted. For instance, the sun against his skin while in Arizona had been as sweet as a lovers’ caress. However, he noted that humans didn’t think twice about it.

“Let’s hurry inside. Your transformation will take place quickly,” Evangeline said, ghosting through the sliding glass door. Adela followed, and Liam brought up the rear.

They ended up in a living room with red cloth couches in front of a large, stone fireplace and a thick, white rug covering the hardwood floor. A stack of wood was piled next to the fireplace, waiting to be lit and warm the room.

Liam began to feel the changes of turning from an angel to a human. The crisp cool nighttime air brushed against his skin, the smell of pine channeled into his nose. Little aches and pains in his knees and shoulder whispered hello, and his stomach rumbled with hunger.

There was a burning sensation as his wings disappeared, and as he stretched his back, he felt the pull of the six crystals where his wings had been, three on each side of his spine right between his shoulder blades.

He glanced over at Adela, who was shivering. “We should get some warmer clothes on,” Liam said, glancing down at his leather pants and vest.

“It is just like your last assignment,” Evangeline said, ignoring him and going in to full overseer mode. “This house was for rent, and it is close to your next target. The Creator made sure that all of your needs are provided for. Please, go find your rooms and get dressed so that you are comfortable.”

Liam followed Adela down the hall, their combat boots thumping against the wooden floor with each step.

Adela stepped into the first bedroom. Liam leaned against the doorjamb as she went through the dresser drawers. A double bed with a green and yellow quilt looked cozy, and Liam yawned. Clothes, food, and bed were the order things were going to be accomplished in tonight.

“This is my room,” Adela said with a grin, shutting the top drawer. “Unless you suddenly prefer pink, silky undergarments.”

Liam smiled. As Angels of Death, Adela and he tended to trade a lot of insults and barbs. One of his favorite things had been seeing if he could get a rise out of her, and every now and then he thought he had succeeded. Now they were partners in this whole Angels of Affection business—the business of helping people fall in love—and their relationship had changed a little. Adela had been dead for over three centuries, and she needed his help to survive as a human in this world. When they had first started with their mission, she didn’t know how to work any of the appliances in a house. Sure, she had seen these things as she delivered souls to their final resting place, but it was one thing to observe something and another to actually utilize it. As he had only been dead five years, he knew his way around a kitchen She relied on him, and he really liked that.

“I’ll keep my kinky fetishes to myself,” he said, wiggling his eyebrows. “Besides, I bet pink, silky undergarments look much better on you than they do on me.”
