Boomerang: A Rosalind story and a SKINNER prequel
I got the call early on.
Everyone got the call sooner or later, but I got it early on.
Not so much because I’ll all A-list for this shit as because, I suspect, they think I’m crazy as a shithouse rat and assumed I’d actually take the gig. And while they were right about the first part, they were most certainly not right about the second part.

You know, I’ve never listened to even a tiny bit of any of the audio versions of my books. I anticipated not liking the experience.
I listened to a little of this.
And it turns out that I was right.
The recording itself is fine, but the experience feels like a cross between hearing your own voice on tape and listening to your novel rendered as an instructional recording.
New Book Day
When my first novel published nine years ago I was living in Manhattan. The day it came out I took a walk around downtown, going store to store, just looking at the fucking thing on the shelves. That became a short lived tradition for me, ending after I moved to Los Angeles.
Driving from store to store across LA County lacks the romance of wandering the streets of NYC, stopping off for coffee or a beer as you go.
And, in any case, life generally allows those kinds of indulgences in limited quan...
