Statement by Edward Snowden to human rights groups at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport

Statement by Edward Snowden to human rights groups at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport:

He is, among many other things, one hell of an eloquent mother fucker. And I really don’t mean to be glib in that opinion. His ability to express himself like this makes a huge deference. True rhetoric is still a powerful tool. If you doubt that, go dig up a copy of then-Senator Obama’s keynote address to the 2004 Democratic convention and think about what that speech did for his career and what is has meant...

Author, Charlie Huston, for The Wall Street Journal

Los Angeles, CA / 2013

I linked this in a previous post, but it was a little chutes and ladders getting to the actual article. This is much easier.

As previously noted, there are a couple small inaccuracies: The cyber attack described in the book is, to the best of my knowledge, quite feasible, and there are no zombies in SLEEPLESS,

Also, I don’t usually look like I’m going to punch anyone who looks at me. Just from that side and in...

May I ask why you changed the format of the dialogue in your work? Just curious. Picked up Skinner, really excited to start! Thanks!

I never intended for the dash dialogue format to be a house style. I was, and still am, a very poor typist. When I was writingCaught Stealing, for my own entertainment, my fingers kept stumbling over the shift and quotation mark keys. So I stopped using them. I’d been reading a great deal of Cormac McCarthy and I liked the way his dialogue rolled down the page, but I did sometimes become confused when it switched back and forth between dialogue and short bursts of prose. I decided I’d do some...

U.S. Is Pressing Latin Americans to Reject Snowden

U.S. Is Pressing Latin Americans to Reject Snowden:
The United States is conducting a diplomatic full-court press to try to block Edward J. Snowden from finding refuge in Latin America.

I’m going to quote at length from the end of this NY Times article because I feel as though the true lead has been buried here.

"Still, Washington’s push for extradition has poked at a sore spot for several countries that have sought the extradition of people wanted by their justice systems.

Mr. Correa has pointe...

I was a huge map geek when I was a kid. I loved looking in atlases, and I my favorite part of putting together a D&D adventure with my friends was making the maps. Spent lots of time burning the edges of crumpled paper, if you know what I mean.

Geek.
