Attacks from America: NSA Spied on European Union Offices - SPIEGEL ONLINE

Attacks from America: NSA Spied on European Union Offices - SPIEGEL ONLINE:
America’s NSA intelligence service allegedly targeted the European Union with its spying activities. According to SPIEGEL information, the US placed bugs in the EU representation in Washington and infiltrated its computer network. Cyber attacks were also perpetrated against Brussels in New York and Washington.

I am shocked! Shocked to find that there is spying on friendly governments going on in here!

Stealth Wear Aims to Make a Tech Statement

Stealth Wear Aims to Make a Tech Statement:

Designers are combining fashion and engineering for clothing and accessories that are intended to protect the wearer from a camera’s detection.

By all rights Snowden should have a suitcase full of this stuff. Hell, maybe he does.

I expect to see some New Aesthetic starlet blinding herpaparazzi pack with one of those purses in the very near future. Lawsuits to follow.

“Earlier this week, the federal Drug Enforcement Agency reported that it had seized 11.02 bitcoins—roughly $814—from a South Carolina man attempting to buy illegal substances with the world’s leading digital currency. It’s the first known seizure of Bitcoin by the U.S. government, signaling just how seriously the feds take Bitcoin and the online black markets it fuels.”

While N.S.A. Leaker Stays in Hiding, Russian TV Builds a Pedestal for Him

While N.S.A. Leaker Stays in Hiding, Russian TV Builds a Pedestal for Him:

Programs on Russia’s two largest federal channels labeled Edward J. Snowden a hero, but there is no consensus on whether Russia should grant Mr. Snowden asylum.

Yes, this feels just surreal enough to be a chapter in the Snowden saga.

The New Aesthetic: James Bridles Drones and Our Invisible, Networked World

The New Aesthetic: James Bridles Drones and Our Invisible, Networked World:
With his first major U.S. museum exhibit opening this week at Washingtons Corcoran Gallery, the young British artist is spearheading a conceptual-art movement through Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram.

So if you want to engage in a grad school, pot head, pseudo intellectual art freakout, you could read this story about Bridle and the New Aethetic, slip over to the New Aesthetic Tumblr, and then start thinking about E...

Free Skinner Contest Closed

Sorry if you missed the deadline.

Looks like we have nineteen entries, so your odds of winning a book are roughly 1 in 5. Did I get that right? I think so.

My daughter will draw after school today and I’ll alert the winners.

Thanks very much for participating. So many unexpected answers, great memories, new stories to check out.

Luck!
