Book 1 and 2 of the Wingless and Damned and Forsaken Series by Author Dawn White

Book 2 of the Damned -Wingless Series,   Book 1 review below,
The Damned Series (Wingless and Damned/Wingless and Forsaken) [Kindle Edition]

This reader will admit I am a junkie and an addict, for this author's books,  as I waited with anticipation for the author next book, it was published and I got my fix. This second book was better then the first. It continues with strong Lea, and her soul-mate, fighting the strigoi, looking for the original five, who were in authority when the curse was declared so long ago.  The companions, along with Lea's half sister and Alexander's brothers gathered forces to go hunting and locate their prey to killed them and discontinue the curse.

As they bond, they are met with devastating tragedies, which only fuels their anger to complete the mission to extinguish the all generations of strigoi, from the ancient to the present generation. The strigoi go on a rampage and attack the werewolves families and slaughter so many in wicked ways.

Alexander loses his loved one and vows revenge, his and his brother sneak off to search and destory the evil, all the way into Hell itself.    The author was so descriptive with the scenes and the events this reader was haunted  Yet she blended in the love and lust between Lea and Alexander, Lea's sister and Alex's brother, so the reader's mind was stimulated so high and then plunges to the depths of a low, a calming effort, as the love bond etched from the depths of a writer's soul  got all four through  some graphic Hellish incidents. As they have to pass the dangerous levels and do unnatural  actions to rescue their loved ones. Mature audiences, for the scenes in some of the paragraphs were sizzling hot.

This story was definitely better, then the first, and it was a high this reader enjoyed, and will look for the third in the series coming in May or June, 2013. I know what I want as a reader for a Mother's day gift. hint, hint, children.  Author Dawn White's Third book, Wingless and Shattered.

Wingless and Damned by Dawn White

This is a surreal story with many characters and a deep plot. The first part prologue is set in Eleusis West Attica Greece 1700 BC, opens with the mythological being Aison flying in to rescue his beloved Kora, but it too late. In his fury of her demise he put a curse on the offenders. In his deep anguish he creates evil creatures to stalk and killer all the tribes’ people from generations to generations at a certain time every two centuries.
In the author's words'
"Forces unseen begin to pull him skyward as he glares at the witnesses to the carnage of his once most beloved. Zeus warned me of falling in love with a mortal!  When he gets his wits to him he sets out on his journey to make as many monstrosities he can possibly make. All noble traits and empathy he once possessed for the mortals are continuously consumed by the hatred.  Becoming a monster of immense proportions only to turn his hatred into a sire of five other originals to own the deepest darkest corners of this hell we call earth."
Then the tale continues to a later in time, 1810 Adirondacks Whiteface mountain range Upstate New York.Opening with the In the Neuri tribe, the medicine woman is ill and they relied on a substitute healer Ciarra, a powerful witch. She decides it is time for her tribe to defend themselves against the cursed fang monsters that come in the night and bloody attacked and executed the innocent. She listens to the spiritual whispers to her and they tell her the ritual to chant to transform the brave warriors into supernatural creatures, cursed all future generations to transform into werewolves at the age of 26 years, to live as immortal creatures of the night to defend their tribe against the evil that comes to destroy, the cursed five originals, of the storgi, the formidable enemies of the Neuri tribe.
Ciarra the witch and the Alpha wolf Aison the were feeling remorse and wanted to break the transformation but she could not as a powerful witch, for the spiritual voices do not tell her how to change the human men back. She is taken hostage by the supernatural Aison who tries to change the course of destiny and tells her she has to twist the curse and put a loophole in it.  This has to be done to stop the never ending war of evil upon the earth. Before she was almost eaten alive, she chants that the only way this spell can be broken is if a mated pair come together and crossover at the same time. This will make them part werewolf and part strigoi which is the only way they can successfully kill the original five strigoi to break the curse.

She is rescued by Aison and they continue to figure how break the curse,  but the curse carries into the future until the two lovers meet and bond as mates. And they come together into a bonding union and transform into the destined mated pair through a sensual lustful  transformation, the fae and the werewolf,  Lea and Alexander are the appointed saviours to stop the fateful curse.
This reader added this paragraph in to explain Ciarra's role as a powerful witch,
In the author's words:
"My name is Ciarra and as medicine woman for the Neuri tribe, I work with my tribal ancestors or spirit guides and nature to keep the balance and peace within our tribe. So far my job hasn’t been easy.""Twelve of the strongest men in the tribe have volunteered to be ones be spelled as werewolves. I begin twisting what used to be thought of as a curse into a simple transformation spell. When I am done, no one will recognize them. However, to be honest, I have no idea how to change them back. I watch nervously as the beautiful, naked men of the Neuri tribe stand shoulder to shoulder as they begin to painfully transform into what seems to be mindless beasts."
"As the Neuri men writhe in pain and agony, my spirit guides start chanting in an unknown language, calming the men. My expressive arm movements while talking to the men seem to draw them in closer to hear me. I give the men instructions to hunt the strigoi down."
then this paragraph of the two meeting, the first couple, Aison and Ciarra and how she has to break the curse:  earlier in the tale.
"He sits down across the table from me and looks me in the eyes with his horrific red glare. Seemingly casual and polite, he says, “You are here to finish what you started. You started a war that eventually will consume strigoi and man beast alike, and no one will be safe. You think you were helping your people but it has been prophesized that this will not end well—millions will die.”
The brief tale continues with suspense as the witch is almost consumed by the evil strigoi, Aison comes to her rescue but he needs to turn her to mend from the feast of the monsters on her broken body. He is concern about the other hostage, who he locked away in safety from the hungry predators. She is pregnant with the last female, and he realizes the only path was to protect the tribe last baby born under the curse, and has her escape with the two faes who were released by him, as hostages of the strigoi, and they escape into a safe realm.
Where she is raised by her aunts, the fae decides it is time to travel to the earthly realm to visit other relatives.  She is at the age of 25, no longer is the defenseless baby girl, developed into a young beautiful woman and she is the catalyst to transform the curse. To have the loophole work she has to bond with a werewolf to become part of each other and they become formidable foes against the evil creatures, the five originals strigoi of the earth and below. All five who were created by their master Aison to exact revenge for his lost love, Kora. They are to be hunted them down and he wanted to execute them in same bloody fashion, as they did to the folks of the tribe. The story is a series and will continue as the two mated couple will continue on the journey to exact their revenge and justice and executed all the strigoi.
The background of the plot is to have the loophole work they understand they need to have a future couple  come together in a sensual union, to bond as one to attain supernatural powers and as they opened the flood gates of time and destiny. The prediction comes true as Lea and Alexander meet in the future. As they related and they increased their lust for each other and through their beautiful and sensual love bonding, they exchanged their DNA when united, the fae was changed in a predator monster with many new powers and secrets. They become united in their mission, each bringing their own intelligence, and supernatural abilities to become powerful avengers.
The couple, Lea and Alexander became a team and start to hunt the foes. The poor fae, Lea has much to accept in her transformation. Such as and likes and dislikes some of her new traits. She is not alone for she has her soul-mate and he very protective of her, charming and a sweet lover. Yet he is keeping secrets from her.
The author has added in more twists and made the plot more suspenseful as other events torn at this reader’s heart as lives were lost and hearts are broken.  This and more sacrifices are to occur for the good to triumph over evil.
There are sexy charming woo lala, scenes in the story. Like the heart scene between the mythological being/werewolf and the powerful witch earlier in the beginning of the story, I added this to display this author's style of writing and her technique to attract the reader.
“In order to keep you safe after the ceremony, you will need to be mine.”
“The moment the last word left his mouth, I felt a sharp then amazingly pleasurable pressure on my neck. I do not even have an inclination to pull away! My body melts into Aison as his lips and tongue take what he needs. I feel my inner fire igniting, imagining what his lips and tongue would feel like and taste like on other more sensitive areas. Just as my mind is wandering to these delicious things, he stops and looks at me.”
“You need to drink a small amount of my blood in order to finish this. “You must twist the curse again and make it irreversible All born of your tribe from this  day forward will be cursed as a werewolf at the age of 26 and be doomed to roam the Earth  finding no peace or rest until the end of the strigoi.”
“The only way this spell can be broken is if a mated pair come together and crossover at the same time. This will make them part werewolf and part strigoi which is the only way they can successfully kill the original strigoi to break the curse.”
Lea and Alexander are even able to communicate telepathically, and there are tender moments, laughable moments and serious moments as they speak to each other in the midst of their lives, love making and preparing for the final battle against the strigoi, by psychic communication.
The conclusion at the end of this short novella of another threat looming on the horizon has compelled this reader to want to keep an eye open for this author's future publications which will be is to be publish as a series. This was a short story, a teaser, but it whetted my appetite to see what will happen with the powerful werewolves and the strigoi as they fight to the death. The battle of love to triumph over hate was definitely the theme to this entertaining story fill with action and heart thumping action.

Get Lucky ...for St. Patrick's Day March 16th-17th, 2013

As a book lover I saw this post on Facebook and my heart went thump, thump, faster and faster, almost became dizzy, for as a reader when the Indie Authors are generous we received gifts, call books. Books to read and cherish. Of course it all hush and hush, which authors were involved. Then as I was savouring this comment a new comment popped up. Author Karli Rush, of the  Bound Series is involved and she is offering her first book of the trilogy, Crescent Bound.  Now that hints to this reader's eyes that other authors of the supernatural, paranormal, romance and probably all genres will be sacrificing actually let their readers know how much they are appreciated and everyone will Get Lucky.

I will have my beer ready and be at the event as the sun rises on the 16th, will you?  Time for Spring and find new authors and new genres, or to fall back on your favorite and support Indie Authors, get a gift, give a review, and when you have the dinero- $$$ buy their own books. And Keep Indie Authors Literature Alive. Author Karli Rush is in my top ten of authors. In fact I will link the review I did. Her books as well as the authors are of light and dark and has such insight.

Getting Lucky EverywhereHello, darlings!

March 16th and 17th (Saturday and Sunday) I'll be hosting an event to promote dozens of your favorite indie authors.

Everyone is ponying up to the bar and laying down free stories for you to get drunk on - myself included. I hope you'll come by and hang out...chat with us and download tons of freebies you can read at your leisure. As we get closer to the event, I'll have a list of books available St. Pat's weekend.

This is my very first event on Facebook...as a Good Irish Girl I thought it was fitting...so be gentle with me. I don't drink so I am the perfect designated driver while you darlings giggle and dance naked on tabletops. I can keep a cool head - and take photos. *wink*

Hope to see you there!

Much love,

Review

It is the first words in the introduction was the spark that compelled me to continue to read it. The beginning of chapter one the author have me, I was hooked with the plot and its possibilities.

It opens with the main character as a little girl, Alyssa dreaming as her father tells her a supernatural tale of their long ago family history about two young people destined to be together but the male character Donovan has to be recognized and accepted by the council to be able to request for the maiden's hand in marriage.

He sets off on a journey to seek the most precious treasure he can find and bring back to the village to prove his worth. Along the way he trips over another supernatural creature trapped in the roots of a tree.

In repayment of being rescued, the stranger gave Donovan what he was looking for and he brings it back to the council. The question after the quest is finished do the young couple lives happily ever after or not? And how does a missing 8th witch coven have to do with a young teenager life, 800 years later?

The plot goes on with the main character as a high school student and living the daily grind and events- of an extraordinary human, for she is a witch and needs to stay cloak in the human realm to not alert the humans to her abilities. Her only release is her two best friends to practice witchcraft with, try not to get into mischief and stay under the radar

As the story continues she describes the life she lives, drag racing, her fear to not become involved with a human as a mate. She is trying to obey the laws of the coven for they only believe in life matches of witches for life.

The way the author writes the plot it is easy to get involved as if you are part of the book.

It is written with easy conversational humanistic comments that kept this reader attentive to the details of the story.

The witches are divided in to the elements group and depending upon their element, they are given certain powers, the main character's is fire, when she is under stress and cannot contain her emotions she sparks and can burn someone if not careful, like when she is thinking about her first break up with her ex, David or the cute guy Marc who is hitting on her, not accepting no when he asks her for a date;

Events arise in the plot and she has to gain control repeating to self "He is not a witch" and gradually wants to let him down gently yet cannot stop thinking about him, gorgeous Marc.

She speaks to her dad when he arrives home from his trip, about her conflicting emotions. Only To discover a dark secret and is given the responsibility of getting closer to the dreamy guy, who will not leave her alone. She decides to have a relationship with him, and as the story gets more exciting she starts to unravel the clues about the mysterious cute guy and her destiny.

Meanwhile she continues on with her secret life as a teen witch, enjoying drag racing with her dad, partying with her friends and guarding her heart from her first love that broke it. He, David wants her back and pulls out all his charms to win her back she is flatter but confused by his attention.

The plot continues with hints of intimacy; written as very delightful descriptive scenes full of romantic attention which would make any female swoon over his masculine approach to win her back.

Yet Marc is also competing for her attention; she is in the midst of a trio, her ex - David and the new guy Marc, it becomes quite intense at times. This story is a mystery, supernatural and a battle of light and good which are all factors to make it stimulating to the reader at the same time and turning pages to see what will happen next, so many events and conflicts.

In the author's words;

"We walk to my car after school; Kelly's car is next to his, so that gives her an excuse to be standing by his car. I was taught that we don't go looking for trouble, the whole do no harm oath. I will say this, witches don't like confrontations, but we will protect ourselves and the ones we love."

I open my car door and say "I will see you tonight. Just follow those directions and meet me by the office about 7:30."

"I will definitely be there." He says as he walks to his car.

I start my car up and think what am I doing? Bringing a human to "hang out" with witches? Have I completely lost my mind, I know dad has good intentions. I just hope this is not a mistake and the night doesn't turn out to be a complete disaster."

The author has the creative insight of including witches spells and traditions though out the story, using all the items, the candles, the magic and the chants.

It is white magic witches powers, the light of goodness, to not harm another but to protect their loved ones in case of danger.

This phase caught this reader's attention:

"Element of water, I call on thee, bring forth your energy. By the powers of three purify the mind, body and spirit within me, element of water, bringer of life; wash away the negative energies and strife. Seal the purity of only love and light in this blessing.

Goddess, hear me, so mote it be."

The plot continues with a macho fight between the ex-David and Marc; this reader was rallying for one of them; the question will be will the loser have to have his memories wipe with a erase memory spell or will he blend into the hidden world of witches and her the royal covens?.

You will have to read this YA and adult story about this young witch and her destiny and what mysteries lies ahead for her and her friends. As a reader I have not found a refreshing book about witches, and their secretive lives written so intensely. This enchanting story is entertaining, it is a light and dark story, full, with action and twists as two forces battled each other and the witches struggle through the darkness and explore their destinies and what is meant to be. "So mote it be."

recommend for 18+ for graphic content.

Author January Valentine, Head Over Wheels

Extra Sweet chocolate that hit the spot!

Author January Valentine of Head  Over Wheels  (spicy  romance)

Head over Wheels, by January Valentine, is the right title for this delightfully spicy romance novel. It is scrumptious from page one to the end. It opens with a breathtaking poem and awesome artwork.  It steams ahead into the sensual dream of the main character, Jewelia Delarosa.  She meets a delightful treat of a sexy man in the cafe, and the fantasies to reality start to spin out of control.Set in Manhattan, the story centers around two ambitious college women studying to be professionals. Their bond is like a younger version of Sex in the City characters, deep and committed. Set in a modern style of Manhattan's fast-paced life and infused with delicious romance, it is an enthralling read for mature audiences.
When Jewelia tells her roommate, Emma, about the gorgeous hunk who catches her eye, the two girls cook up a plan on how to attract his attention the next time she runs into him. Ah, the intrigue and the scheming kept this reader entertained.
Then the fateful meeting was not to be, for intervention and competition faulted Jewel, but she was not one to give up. In the midst of scheming, Jewelia, Emma and police detective buddy are chummy and life rolls on. Jewel is volunteering for a bike-a-thon, and living the city's life with all it thrills and surprises.
The author has a unique style of writing that compels the reader to want to see what will happen next. There are little insights which warm the reader's heart, then again the spicy romance that makes it steamy hot. This story is definitely a roller coaster of emotions, which is one of the threads that kept the story flowing and interesting. Ah, the situation is set, and the bait is ready, and the two will meet, either by destiny or coincidence.
Jewelia and Indigo  continue to dance around each other, learning, exploring and discovering each other. Roommate Emma is also surprised by a flash of the past and the saucy romance ignites as secrets unfold between the four college professionals.
The suspense, conflicts, and events are exciting and hints of desire titillating. The conclusion is powerful. This reader recommends this book for those who seek steamy romance. You may want to research this author and preview all her other books and if they are like this one, they too are definitely a reader's paradise.
I highly recommend Head Over Wheels spicy romance, written with a poetic and modern creativity of future promises and dreams coming true through a revenge plot and personal life storms. The author takes the reader on an exciting experience, following the characters as they struggle to discover what fate has in store for them.

The Snake Pit: Jr. High Can Be Torture by Author Donna Dillon

The Snake Pit: Jr. High Can Be Torture by  Author Donna Dillon

This is a short but powerful tale about high school is not as safe as anyone thinks, bullies come in all shapes, sizes and popularity. There are little angels that are are really wicked and the adults can not see the truth in front of them. It is an excellent story and a resource to be taught in classrooms everywhere.

The writing was light and serious at the time. A possible scenario and the friendships and peer pressure of the popular vs. the normal students is a tricky situation, to explain to teenagers. But you as an inspiring author explained it in an entertaining non fictional story about bullying, yet could come true.

The message comes across clear, All the community should be involved to stop it. and not hide their heads in the sand. The 21st century definitely needs more stories like these to teach the children the consequences and the aftermath of events that are mean and cruel. How the effects reverberant in the present and future of all involved and to receive consequences for the ones who do not stop bullying and violence before it gets out of control. This reader highly recommends this author and her books, she is wise beyond her years with her insight. This book can be read by all ages.

Songs for the Lord, by Author Linda Bonney Olin

FREE 2/6/2013 UNTIL MIDNIGHT, DO NOT MISS THIS WONDERFUL TREAT.
http://www.amazon.com/Songs-Lord-Contemporary-Inspirational-ebook/dp/B00796EZGS/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1360206239&sr=1-1&keywords=songs+for+the+lord

Songs for the Lord: A Book of Twenty-four Original Songs in a Mix of Traditional and Contemporary Styles for Church Worship Services, Inspirational Music Programs, and Christian Devotions (Kindle Edition) As a reader I was looking for an uplifting book to heal a broken spirit. Times were dark and health low, so when I came upon this book, with it amazing abilities to listen to music of instrumental tunes playing and read the lyrics at the same time, I was delightful surprised. This reader have not listened to Christian songs in a while, as I went away from the church due to excuses or life responsibilities taking priority over being in touch with the Almighty and self.

I listened to the music and read the poignant lyrics, written by the author and I felt as if I was once again a little girl worshipping at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City or a favorite local church. In awe with the wondrous sensations of being one with the Almighty. As the instrumental sounds seeped deep into thy vessel and the vibrations came, it became a healing balm and an enriching experience.

The chorus of the instruments playing and the reading of the lyrics reach deep within this reader and I was lost to the wonder of hope, faith and divine love, once again. Gain faith in humanity with tears of joy pouring forth from my eyes and soul.

Even if you are not Christian, this is beautiful instrumental gift, as if the angels are singing, listen carefully you might hear them.

I highly recommend this book for all ages and all faiths. There one or more instrumental melodies or a songs that will reach into the reader's/listener's deepest recesses of a weary mind and the soothing sounds of the instrumental chords as well as the inspiring words may recharge you to believe in the impossible is the possible.
