There’s a Werewolf In My Tent is being celebrated on the Lollies blog tour!
The 2018 Laugh Out Loud Book Awards (Lollies) blog tour is in full swing, and we are absolutely thrilled that There’s a Werewolf In My Tent, written by Pamela Butchart and illustrated by Thomas Flintham, has been recognised in the 6-8 category!
The Lollies were created especially to celebrate the very funniest and most engaging books in children’s fiction – and we are so pleased that There’s a Werewolf In My Tent has been shortlisted.
The Lollies blog tour is running from the Sunday 7th October to Friday 19th October, with There’s a Werewolf In My Tent being celebrated on Saturday 13th October, on the Childtastic Books blog.
The sixth book in the HILARIOUS, award-winning Baby Aliens… series, There’s a Werewolf In My Tent is laugh-out-loud funny fiction that perfectly captures the craziness of primary school.
Izzy and her friends are SO EXCITED about their school trip. They’re going camping and there’ll be marshmallows and no washing and everything. But then WEIRD things start happening! There’s howling sounds at night and some sausages have gone missing, and it’s nearly a full moon. . . But it’s when they see their new teacher’s hairy legs that they KNOW! There’s a werewolf on the school trip and they’re all DOOMED!
You can vote for There’s a Werewolf In My Tent for a Lollies award in the 6-8 category here.
If you’ve not yet discovered the book, you can take a look inside There’s a Werewolf In My Tent below:
The final winners of the Lollies will be picked by school pupils and announced in January 2019 – good luck, Pamela and Thomas!

Storm Witch is now available as an audiobook
Today we’re delighted to share a brand new audiobook edition of Storm Witch, by Ellen Renner – the first instalment of a gripping fantasy quartet from the prize-winning author of Tribute and Castle of Shadows.
Perfect for fans of Ursula Le Guin, Storm Witch introduces an extraordinary new fantasy world. Child of Air, Water, Earth or Fire: now that she is thirteen, Storm must undertake The Choosing and be claimed by one of the Elementals, which will determine her whole life’s work. But for Storm, daughter of a father murdered by Water and a warrior mother claimed by Earth, there will be no easy destiny.
The Elementals bestow her with a great and terrible gift. Storm-bringer. Storm-rider. Storm-queller. Storm has powers that no one, not even the island Elders, can understand. And when the Drowned Ones – a savage band of pirates who roam the seas on floating towns – attack her island, will her powers help her to save the people she loves, or is her fate to betray everything she holds dear? Soon Storm faces a decision which will change her life – and that of everyone who lives on her island – forever.
Brilliantly narrated by Vera Chok, you can buy the audiobook of Storm Witch from Audible, Amazon, and iTunes now – and you can listen to a preview of the audiobook below.

Edgar and the Sausage Inspector is a White Raven 2018!
The White Ravens list for this year has been announced, and we’re thrilled to see our picture book Edgar and the Sausage Inspector, by Jan Fearnley, has been selected as one of the 2018 entries!
The White Ravens list is an annual catalogue of book recommendations in the field of international children’s and youth literature, put together by the International Youth Library. This year’s White Ravens catalogue contains 200 titles in 38 languages from 59 countries.
White Ravens said:
“This action-filled tale is told in engaging prose interspersed with witty dialogue that lends itself to being read aloud in different voices. The comical illustrations are brimming with funny details and feature a cast of energetic characters. The surprising twist at the end will have readers cheering for the courageous cat hero, who eventually gets to have the last laugh.”
You can read the full entry here.
Edgar and the Sausage Inspector is a fantastically funny picture book set in stylish Paris by award-winning author-illustrator Jan Fearnley, creator of Oh Me, Oh My, A Pie and Little Robin Red Vest.
Edgar and Edith are hungry, and it’s up to Edgar to bring home something tasty. But just when Edgar finds some delicious sausages, they are taken by The Inspector, a very important-looking rat with a big hat. Poor Edgar and Edith are left with nothing but dry crackers and pickles for dinner. That is, until one day, when The Inspector is all fattened up, and Edgar does some inspecting of his own…
Here’s a look inside the book:
You can find out more about the White Ravens 2018 here. The printed catalogue will be launched this week at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2018, and the entire list will be on display at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2019. Congratulations, Jan!

Sing Along With Me! Five Little Ducks, illustrated by Yu-hsuan Huang, is featured – Booktrust write:
“This super chunky board book edition has lovely bright illustrations for little ones to enjoy. It also has fabulous pull tabs to explore, revealing the next part of the song – the best one being a little wheel that makes the ducks swim round a pond (and losing one in the process).
Strong production from Nosy Crow books ensures the book is robust and there’s a nifty QR code to listen to a free audio version of the book. There are even instructions on how to use the QR code, too – a thoughtful touch from the publisher.”
You can read the full review here – and here’s what to look for in shops:

Hello Zoo, illustrated by Nicola Slater, has been included – Booktrust write:
“The lovely illustrations here have lots of little details to enjoy, and the fold-out flaps have spyholes so you can guess the scene before it is revealed. The final spread also has a fun scene with a squashy bouncy castle to touch.”
You can read the full review here – and here’s what to look for in shops:

And Look, There’s a Helicopter, illustrated by Esther Aarts, has been included – Booktrust write:
“Fans of helicopters will love this rhyming board book with holes integrated in each image that lead to a discovery on the next page.
The illustrations are bursting with colour and life, and are filled with details for young readers to explore. An entertaining addition to any bookshelf.”
You can read the full review here – and here’s what to look for in shops:

And The Infinite Lives of Maisie Day, by Christopher Edge, has been featured in the 10-11 category! Booktrust write:
“Maisie is no ordinary 10-year-old: she passed her maths GCSE at age six and is now studying for a degree. Yet on her birthday, she finds that her family have disappeared and her house is being consumed by darkness.
A brilliant introduction to physics wrapped inside a great story.”
