Fire Erupts at Jacksonville Airport, Temporarily Halts All Flights
Flights resumed at Jacksonville International Airport in Florida late Friday after a major fire in the facility’s Hourly Garage forced a full shutdown for several hours. The blaze ignited just after noon and reportedly started in a single vehicle before spreading rapidly to roughly 50 others The Florida Times Union reported.
The fire led to partial collapses on the second and third floors of the garage and forced firefighters to pull back due to safety concerns. Drones were deployed to assess the damage. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Chief Keith Powers said the structure, which was last inspected in October, will require a thorough investigation before reopening.
Officials confirmed the fire remained under control by late afternoon, though it continued to smolder. No injuries were reported.
The fire’s location, on the garage level nearest the terminal, brought travel to a standstill. Some outbound flights managed to depart, but inbound traffic was halted until the airport officially reopened at 5 p.m. During the airport's closure, flights were diverted to Orlando Airport.

City leaders urged travelers to check with their airlines before heading to the airport, noting that parking availability remains severely limited. The 1,200-space Hourly Garage is closed indefinitely, and the Daily Garage was also taken offline Friday evening.
City officials said they would continue monitoring the situation. Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan, who joined emergency and airport officials at a press briefing, praised first responders and reiterated the importance of traveler safety. “We’ll continue to monitor the structure, but it will be a long process,” she said.
The incident comes just ahead of the Memorial Day travel rush and raises fresh concerns about infrastructure readiness at major transit hubs. For now, officials are encouraging the use of rideshare services and off-site parking lots while recovery efforts continue.

Costco Puts Purchase Limit on Gold Bars as Demand Surges
Costco, the nation's largest warehouse club chain, recently added a purchasing limit on an increasingly popular item and one of the club's hottest commodities in recent years - 24-karat gold bars.
The warehouse retailer began selling gold bars to its members back in June of 2023, with an original limit of 2 one-ounce gold bars per person. However, Costco recently tightened its purchase restrictions on the precious metal to 1 bar per member transaction, with a maximum of 2 bars per 24 hours, according to the Costco website.
Limiting customers to a single one-ounce gold bar might not sound like much of a decrease from the 2-bar limit members were used to, but according to Business Insider, just last year members were able to bring home up to 5 gold bars from a warehouse in Wisconsin at one point, so the decrease is more substantial than it might appear to some members.
The price tag for the 1-ounce South African-made gold bar currently runs as high as $3,279.99, which is significantly higher than the $2,000 the bars were going for shortly after Costco began selling them in 2023. However, that price increase makes sense considering gold prices have risen more than 70% over that time – hitting record highs in April, according to USA Today.
Demand for the gold bars has been soaring over the last year, which may have prompted Costco's decision to adjust the purchasing limit. A survey from Bloomberg last year revealed that approximately 77% of Costco locations across 46 states sold out of gold bars within a week in October 2024.
"When we load them on the site, they’re typically gone within a few hours, and we limit two per member,” Costco's then-chief financial officer Richard Galanti told analysts during the company's earnings call in September 2023, according to a transcript from S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Earlier that same year, Wells Fargo Equity Research estimated that Costco was making as much as $100-$200 million per month in revenue from the sales of its gold bars alone, according to CNBC.
“Our work suggests there has been significant interest given COST’s aggressive pricing and high level of customer trust,” Edward Kelly, an equity analyst at Wells Fargo said in 2024. “The accelerating frequency of Reddit posts, quick on-line sell-outs of product, and COST’s robust monthly eComm sales suggests a sharp uptick in momentum since the launch.”
Costco’s bars are available in PAMP Suisse Lady Fortuna Veriscan and the Rand Refinery’s South African bullion, according to the retail site.

Tom Cruise ‘Working on’ Potential Sequels for ‘Top Gun’ and ‘Days of Thunder’
Tom Cruise may be 62 years old, but he has a motor capable of holding its own with anyone in the film industry. Not only does he continue to do all of his own stunts, but based on early clips from the upcoming Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning movie, he's somehow managed to make them even crazier.
While many believe this movie will be Cruise's final act in the Mission: Impossible franchise, the question becomes, what's next for him? Not surprisingly, Cruise is already two steps ahead on that front.
During an interview with the Australian show Today, he was asked whether Top Gun 3 was "on the horizon," as Comicbook.com revealed.

Cruise confirmed he's "working on" a Top Gun sequel and revealed there's also much more being kicked around. Specifically, Cruise referenced a sequel to the 1990 racing film Days of Thunder, putting it in the same current phase as Top Gun.
“Yeah, we’re thinking and talking about many different stories and what could we do and what’s possible,” said Cruise. “It took me 35 years to figure out Top Gun: Maverick, so all of these things we’re working on, we’re discussing Days of Thunder and Top Gun: Maverick."
Cruise added that multiple other films are also being worked on, sparking plenty of intrigue about what fans could see Cruise in next.
"There’s numerous other films that we’re actively working on right now. I’m always shooting a film, prepping a film, posting a film," Cruise explained.
"I just finished a film with Alejandro Iñárritu too, who did The Revenant, that was an extraordinary experience and [Christopher McQuarrie] and I are always working on several different films.”
It sounds as though there are several next steps Cruise could consider. Regardless, his update on Top Gun should give fans reason for optimism.

Wisconsin 'Tornado' Videos, Photos Show Terrifying Twisters
Multiple videos and photos showing funnel clouds and severe storm cells emerged after tornado reports in Wisconsin on May 15, 2025.
The Dodge County, WI, communities of Juneau and Mayville were reporting significant damage, but no major injuries.
Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said in a news conference on May 15 that a "cluster of storms" caused the significant damage to Juneau and Mayville. WISN-TV reported that a "tornado touched down" in Dodge County, WI.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported, though, that the National Weather Service had confirmed that a tornado "was located over Portage" WI in Columbia County around 4:49 p.m. There were also reports of tornadoes in New Richmond, Loyal, Colby, and Juneau, NWS told The Journal Sentinel.

Justin Bieber Was Not a Sean 'Diddy' Combs Victim: Reports
Justin Bieber was not a victim of Sean "Diddy" Combs, according to a statement his representative gave multiple news outlets.
With accusers coming forward against Combs, who is on trial over trafficking and other charges in New York City, speculation has raged among the singer's fans about whether Bieber could be among his victims. However, the singer's representative has set the record straight to TMZ as graphic accusations emerge involving other people during Combs' jury trial in New York City.
The rep says Bieber was not a victim of Combs.
"Although Justin is not among Sean Combs' victims, there are individuals who were genuinely harmed by him. Shifting focus away from this reality detracts from the justice these victims rightfully deserve," a rep for Bieber told TMZ and E! News.
That comment came after multiple sources told TMZ that Bieber was not a victim of Combs.
"Multiple sources in Justin's life say nothing untoward happened between them," TMZ reported on May 15, 2025, referring to Bieber and Combs.
Although TMZ's sources were anonymous, the entertainment news site reported that they were "at the center" of Bieber's life. And they adamantly denied that Combs abused Bieber.

"Diddy never... abused Bieber," in any way, the sources told TMZ
Combs and Bieber do have a connection. According to TMZ, Bieber was close to two of Combs' children, his sons Quincy and Justin Combs.
Fans have expressed concern about Bieber in recent months because of a series of emotional photos and comments that he has posted on social media.
E! News also reported that Bieber "has crossed paths with Combs, 55, several times in his career," but that's not very surprising considering they were both very successful in the music business. The two were photographed together over the years at events.
In 2011, Bieber appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with Combs, and said, "He got me a Lamborghini, but I haven't gotten yet.
Combs responded, according to the video. "He got the Lamborghini for a day or two. He has access to the house. He knows better than to be talking about the things that he does with Big Brother Puff on national television."

Mayville & Juneau, Wisconsin, Suffer Severe Damage After Tornado Reports
The small towns of Mayville and Juneau, WI, suffered "significant" damage after tornado reports on May 15, 2025, according to The Dodge County Sheriff's Department.
Photos and videos posted on social media showed the extensive damage, with a snapped-in-half silo, roofs blown off or damaged, and trees covering the roadways.
The Dodge County Sheriff's Department released a lengthy statement on its Facebook page. It was titled, "Significant Weather-Related Damage."
Megan Lee, a reporter for WTMJ-TV, posted damage photos on X and wrote, "Devastating damage in Juneau, Wisconsin tonight. A barn completely wrecked and a silo snapped in half. My heart is breaking for these Wisconsinites."
Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said in a news conference that a "cluster of storms" caused significant damage to Juneau and Mayville, with powerlines and trees down elsewhere. Juneau and Mayville were the epicenter of the response, Schmidt said. He said that, at this point, only one person was taken to the hospital for injuries in the City of Juneau. "There may have been another minor injury that occurred."
"We have people who are without homes," Schmidt said, adding that some people "lost their roofs and have nowhere to go."

Schmidt asked people who don't live in Juneau or Mayville to stay away while authorities help clean up the communities.
"At about 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 15, 2025, the Dodge County Area had significant storm cells that moved through the Dodge County area. As a result, significant damage has occurred, which primarily occurred in the Juneau and Mayville areas," the Sheriff's Department wrote in a written statement.

A video posted by a storm chaser named Vince Waelti showed Mayville, WI, right after the tornado struck. That video showed downed trees and damaged roofs, minimally.
WKOW-TV described the Mayville tornado damage as "significant," largely based on Waelti's video. According to that station, the National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado was spotted on radar in Dodge County "that looked like it hit the city of Mayville just after 6 p.m." on May 15.

‘Murderbot,’ Apple TV+’s New Sci-Fi Series, Has a Near-Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score
Murderbot has yet to even drop its first episode, yet it already has critics talking.
The new Apple TV+ sci-fi series—based on Martha Wells’ Hugo and Nebula Award-winning book series, The Murderbot Diaries—is set to premiere on Friday, May 16. But already boasts a near-perfect 98 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The series stars Alexander Skarsgård as the eponymous security robot who has gained free will, but understands the implications that could come if anyone were to realize that. So the bot, who has christened itself “Murderbot,” keeps its autonomy to itself.
As viewers, we get to hear Murderbot’s thoughts on the world around it, which largely amount to: Human beings are idiots. “But now that I’ve hacked my program,” Skarsgård explains in the series’ trailer, “I can do whatever I want.” As long as none of the humans surrounding Murderbot discover its secret.
When the security bot is enlisted to accompany a group of scientists to a dangerous planet in order to protect them, it instead spends most of its time binge-watching the many soap operas streaming through its operating system. Relatable.
Unfortunately, one scientist stumbles upon Murderbot’s secret—and the fact that it calls itself Murderbot—setting off panic amongst the team.
While Murderbot explores big ideas, its success really rests on Skarsgård’s ability to deliver his lines in a way that is both semi-robotic, but also dripping in sarcasm, which is a sweet spot for the acclaimed actor.
As The Independent’s Nick Hilton writes, “Skarsgård’s ability to pair his chiselled, leading man good looks with a very goofy sense of humour (recently utilized to good effect in Succession) makes Murderbot an enjoyable, lightweight watch.”
The Washington Post’s Lili Loofbourow echoed this sentiment in her review, noting that Murderbot is “a decidedly silly show, but one in which Skarsgard, who so brilliantly plays sociopathic men, portrays a disdainful but soft-eyed killing machine with a lot of anxious ‘humanity.’”
The first two episode of Murderbot arrive on Apple TV+ on Friday, May 16. From there, a new episode will arrive each Friday until the 10th and final episode arrives on July 11.
What You’ll See in Mark Cuban’s Last Shark Tank Appearance
After 16 seasons, Mark Cuban is saying goodbye to Shark Tank—and his final episode is shaping up to be more party than pitch. The May 16 finale features a highlight reel of Cuban’s most unforgettable moments, from silent disco dancing to wig modeling, reminding fans that the billionaire investor brought just as much personality as he did capital.
In an exclusive sneak peek released to Us Weekly ahead of the episode, ABC celebrates Cuban’s legacy not just as a savvy entrepreneur, but as the guy who made the Tank fun. One throwback clip shows the Dallas Mavericks owner breaking into a “money dance” after closing a deal with Foam Party Hats, a company that specializes in bringing color and chaos to celebrations. That $100,000 investment with Lori Greiner was just one of many playful moments over the years.
From sampling beer gadgets to learning how it feels to be a redhead, courtesy of a startup that sells wigs and makeup for redheads Cuban fully embraced the offbeat energy of the show. Fans will also see him cutting loose during Quiet Events’ silent disco pitch, showing that he was always game to test the product and have a laugh.
While Cuban has built empires with some of the brands he backed, he said what he’ll miss most isn’t the deal-making. “It’s going to be more about the crew and the staff… we all look forward to getting together twice a year,” he shared.
Cuban shared the news on X, writing "My last @ABCSharkTank is this Friday. Gonna miss it. But it was time to move on Make sure to watch!"

Fans revealed they'd miss seeing him on the show. On replied, "Gonna miss the face you made every time someone said 'subscription box.'"
"Thank you for all of the great memories. You were definitely the one to watch despite Mr. Wonderful’s claims otherwise. I hope that you continue your great work making prescription drugs affordable through Cost Plus Drugs," another viewer wrote.
One summed it up with, "Gonna miss you calling out Mr wonderful."
Kevin O’Leary, better known as Mr. Wonderful, admitted he tried to change Cuban’s mind. “He’s been part of the DNA of the show for so long,” O’Leary said.
Cuban’s sendoff airs Friday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, and if the sneak peek is any indication, it’ll be equal parts heartfelt and hilarious—just like his run on the show.

In contrast with the austere designs like Killshots and Blazers, the Air Pegasus 2005 is a maximalist sneaker. The upper is made up of overlapping, precisely-cut layers of leather, synthetic leather, and textile. The foam midsole has Nike Air technology for absorbing impact, while the rubber outsole carries a waffle-inspired pattern to provide traction out in the world.
After more than a week of wearing these shoes, one shopper wrote that “they are an excellent all-around shoe with great versatility.” They loved that “the soles are both comfortable to stand in during my daily routine, but also offer support for longer walks and runs,” and “the texture on the bottom is extremely grippy and allows for additional traction.”

Men Are Twice as Likely to Die From This Stress-Related Heart Issue
Stress hits everyone. Whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a job, or the end of a relationship, dealing with grief is never easy. But for men, the stakes may be even higher. Research shows that men are twice as likely to die from takotsubo cardiomyopathy—a stress-induced heart condition better known as “broken heart syndrome”—compared to women.
A recent study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association examined nearly 200,000 U.S. adults from 2016 to 2020. Researchers found that although the heart condition was more common among women, the death rate among them was half that of men at 5.5%, compared to 11.2% for men.
“Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is a serious condition with a substantial risk of death and severe complications,” said study author M. Reza Movahed, M.D., Ph.D., an interventional cardiologist and clinical professor of medicine at the University of Arizona’s Sarver Heart Center in Tucson, Arizona
Related: Want to Keep Your Edge as You Age? Researchers Recommend This Surprising Training Method
Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, aka broken heart syndrome, is a heart condition most often brought on by extreme emotions or stressful situations. While it generally occurs temporarily, people can continue to feel unwell for long periods of time. Symptoms include shortness of breath and chest pain.
During the study period, major complications caused 35.9% of participants to die from congestive heart failure, 20.7% from atrial fibrillation, 6.6% from cardiogenic shock, 5.3% from stroke, and 3.4% from cardiac arrest.
“The health care team needs to carefully review coronary angiograms that show no significant coronary disease with classic appearance of left ventricular motion, suggesting any subtypes of stress-induced cardiomyopathy," Movahed said in a press release. "These patients should be monitored for serious complications and treated promptly."
He also adds that some complications, such as embolic stroke, could be prevented with early detection and treatment.
Movahed added that further research is needed to fully understand the mortality discrepancy between males and females and how to best manage patients with this condition.
