Support American Ideals PAC
Ying Ma founded the American Ideals PAC a little over a month ago.
The organization, a political action committee, champions American ideals that have inspired generations—that we are all created equal and should be judged by the content of our character.
These are principles declared by the Founding Fathers and advocated by brave Americans throughout our history. Yet a corrosive ideology dominates our public discourse today: It shames Americans for their race, color, ethnicity, or gender; teaches children that they are oppressed, or oppressors, due to the color of their skin; and allows universities to grant preferences to some racial groups while discriminating against others. All the while, politicians congratulate themselves for defending such practices under the false notion of “equity.”
The American Ideals PAC seeks to defeat and eradicate public policies that perpetuate such divisions. While racism is not extinct in America, it is wrong to condemn America as a systemically racist country and to implement policies that embrace bigotry masquerading as social justice. Rather, upholding the Founding principle of equal rights remains crucial to living up to America’s ideals. The American Ideals PAC supports candidates and policies that will defend equal rights and promote equal opportunity for all Americans.
During the midterm elections of 2022, the American Ideals PAC endorsed strong candidates in competitive political races across the country. Notably, it provided invaluable support to help deliver victory for Representative Michelle Steel in California’s 45th congressional district.
The American Ideals PAC will continue to defend American values and support candidates who fight for all Americans regardless of race, color, or gender.

End Racial Preferences
Ying Ma, president of the American Ideals PAC, recently spoke to Fox News regarding the oral arguments held at the Supreme Court for two cases involving the use of racial preferences in college admissions.
Ms. Ma pointed out that universities such as Harvard obsess over race and engage in brazen racial discrimination against Asian applicants. Condemning such practices are unequal and un-American, she urged the high court to strike them down.

Featured in WSJ
Ying Ma and the Equal Rights for America PAC, for which she serves as president, were recently featured in a column in The Wall Street Journal. The Journal highlighted the PAC’s mission to promote equal rights and its recent endorsement of Congresswoman Michelle Steel in her competitive race for reelection in California’s 45th congressional district.
Read excerpts below.
“In a key California House race, the Republican and Democratic candidates have each accused the other of anti-Asian racism. That may not be surprising in a district where the Los Angeles Times says Asian-Americans enjoy a slight plurality (37%). What is surprising is that the candidates accusing each other are Asian-Americans.
“The Republican is Michelle Steel, who was born in South Korea after her parents fled communist North Korea and spent part of her childhood in Japan. Her campaign accused her Democratic opponent, Jay Chen, of racism after he appeared to poke fun at her accent during a campaign stop in April. (English is her third language, after Korean and Japanese)….
“But so far there’s been almost no coverage of another issue of particular concern for Asian-Americans—officially sanctioned racial discrimination against Asian-American college applicants.
“Enter Ying Ma and the new Equal Rights for America PAC. Though not specifically an Asian-American political-action committee, its leadership includes Asian-Americans veterans from the successful NO on 16 campaign in 2020 in California—which beat back an effort to repeal language in the state constitution prohibiting race preferences. These veterans include Ms. Ma and Betty Chu, a former mayor of Monterey Park.
“‘We picked Michelle Steel for our first endorsement because she is a firm opponent of race discrimination and her opponent is not—even though he is Asian-American himself,’ Ms. Ma says. ‘We expect Michelle’s victory to be very clarifying on this issue.’
“Like Ms. Steel, Ms. Ma is also an immigrant from Asia. She was Larry Elder’s communications director during his run against Gov. Gavin Newsom in last year’s recall election. The year before, she was also communications director for the NO on 16 campaign. That effort also included Ward Connerly, the former University of California regent who led the original 1996 fight to ban race preferences in the Golden State. He is now chairman of the PAC’s advisory committee.
“‘While racism is not extinct in America, the system is no longer racist, and policies that embrace bigotry masquerading as social justice are not the solution,’ he said in a statement announcing the Equal Rights for America PAC.
“Ms. Ma says she founded the PAC to uphold one principle: equal treatment for all. That covers a lot of ground these days, including opposition to critical race theory. But probably the most pressing concern today is the pending Supreme Court cases over admissions at Harvard and the University of North Carolina. These cases have helped drive home to many Asian-Americans that they are now on the losing end of the equity agenda—with their kids denied entry over less-qualified applicants because elite schools think they already have too many Asians….
“Ms. Steel has spoken out against Harvard, and she and Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) led 80 colleagues to file a friend-of-the-court brief supporting the plaintiffs in these suits, Students for Fair Admissions. In 2016, by contrast, Mr. Chen appeared on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show, where as both an Asian-American and Harvard alumnus he defended the university’s use of race. All through the interview, Mr. Chen avoided answering Mr. Carlson’s direct question about whether Harvard’s race discrimination against Asian-Americans is wrong….
“‘Too many of our elected representatives claim to be against anti-Asian hate but then support Harvard’s race discrimination in admissions,’ she says. ‘We’re not going to let them get away with it any more.'”

The American Ideals PAC Seeks to Defeat “Racial Equity” Agenda
The American Ideals PAC, a political action committee, champions the Founding principle of equal rights. Initially launched as the Equal Rights for America PAC, the organization recently changed its name. Below are excepts from the announcement of its founding. Ying Ma serves as the PAC’s president.
“We will support candidates and legislation that further equal rights in America,” said Ward Connerly, leader of the national equal rights movement and chairman of the advisory committee for the new PAC. “Today, America is often condemned as a systemically racist country, and as a result, Americans are demonized due to their race, color, and gender. This is wrong and must stop. While racism is not extinct in America, the system is no longer racist, and policies that embrace bigotry masquerading as social justice are not the solution.”
“Upholding the founding principle of equality remains crucial to living up to America’s lofty ideals,” Mr. Connerly continued. “That is what our PAC will fight for at the ballot box.”

“We intend to defeat policies and practices that perpetuate racial discrimination and tear at the social fabric of this country. These include racial preferences, critical race theory, and the ‘racial equity’ agenda in general,” said Ms. Ma. “We will advocate for equality for all rather than special treatment for some, and we will help deliver victory to candidates who share our vision.”
The PAC draws on a team of seasoned leaders and professionals. For over 25 years, Mr. Connerly has led a national political movement to end state-sponsored race and gender discrimination and preferences throughout the country. To date, nine states—California, Washington, Florida, Michigan, Nebraska, Arizona, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, and Idaho—have adopted such prohibitions via ballot initiative, legislation, or executive order.
The PAC will actively engage with political leaders and voters in the runup to the midterm elections of 2022 and will make its first political endorsement later this week.

My Brother Died Without Loved Ones Amid Strident Covid Restrictions
More Humility From Fauci Would Be Welcome
Daily Wire, September 15, 2022
Dr. Anthony Fauci recently announced he will be stepping down from all government positions, including his position as chief medical advisor to President Joe Biden. As the most notable public health official leading America’s response to COVID for the past two and a half years, Fauci has repeatedly declared, “I represent science.”
My family abided by the severe restrictions Fauci demanded of Americans throughout the pandemic. During that time, my parents lost their son — and I lost my brother — to a non-Covid illness. The devastating consequences of the government-mandated restrictions made his death that much more awful and, in my opinion, more preventable. A little more humility, along with an honest acknowledgement of the steep downsides of the policies he championed, would be a welcome change before Fauci leaves office.

Modesty Is a Virtue
Competing with China in the 21st century requires not just sound foreign policy, but also strengthening America from within. One area where much work is needed is education, including the education of this country’s young women.
This is an area to which the Clare Boothe Luce Center for Conservative Women have made tremendous contributions. In the latest episode of her podcast, “China vs. USA,” Ying Ma talks to Michelle Easton, president of the Luce Center and author of How to Raise a Conservative Daughter.

Gavin Newsom’s Delusions
Gov. Gavin Newsom of California is eyeing the presidency and wants to “take the fight to” the Republican Party in general and Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida in particular. In an interview with the Stanford Federalist Society’s alumni newsletter last fall, Ying Ma discussed Newsom’s failures as governor of California and the special election to recall him in 2021.
Ms. Ma served as communications director of the Elder for Governor campaign in last year’s recall election. To read the interview, please see below.

How the Equality Movement Defeated Racial Preferences
In 1996, voters in California passed Proposition 209, which prohibited racial preferences in public employment, contracting, and education. In 2020, when the Democratic supermajority in the state legislature sought to overturn Prop 209 by placing Proposition 16 on the ballot, voters in California overwhelmingly rejected the effort by a margin of 57 to 43 percent.
In an age of rampant woke-ism and identity politics, many have wondered how the “No on 16” campaign managed to prevail against California’s political, business, and media establishments. Ward Connerly, renowned national advocate for equality regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, color, or national origin, recently offered–through a series of Tweets (reproduced below)–an explanation of the “No on 16” victory and a short history of the equality movement he has led for the past quarter of a century.
Ying Ma served as Bay Area outreach coordinator of the Prop 209 campaign in 1996, and as communications director of “No on 16” in 2020.
With the current consideration of affirmative action by the US Supreme Court, there is heightened new interest in the dramatic and improbable defeat of Prop 16 back in 2020. How was it possible to defeat the political establishment and their never-ending desire to restore race

China is a significant, but not an existential, threat
Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently declared that “China is the only country with both the intent to reshape the international order and, increasingly, the…power to do it.” By contrast, Blinken’s predecessor, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, said during the last year of the Trump administration, “Securing our freedoms from the Chinese Communist Party is the mission of our time.”
Prof. Andrew Nathan, distinguished China expert, longtime human rights advocate, and professor of political science at Columbia University, cautions against any China panic and describes the China threat as significant, but not existential.
Ying Ma spoke to Prof. Nathan in the latest episode of her podcast, “China vs. USA.” Listen or download HERE.
