Lake Diving at Saujana Putra Lake, Selangor with I-Divers
There are two types of scuba divers; one who only wants to see the beautiful things the underwater world have to offer, and then there’s the rebellious and adventurous one like me, who is curious about the mystery of the underwater world and the dark side of it.
With travel restrictions due to the Covid19 and the state of emergency is still being imposed and have no signs of being eased, there’s no way I can dive in the sea, since there’s no diveable island in the vicinity of Klang Valley. However, lakes aplenty. The only problems with lakes in Malaysia is that they’re not crystal clear, you won’t be getting pretty kelp forest views and whatnot and the visibility is severely limited. Lake diving in Malaysian lakes is a challenge even to experienced scuba divers and many dislike it.
But then again, I rather be diving in lakes with limited vis around the vicinity of Klang Valley than wait for travel restrictions to be removed and no diving at all. Sure, I can go and dive in pools, most of them are already opened, but strangely I like open water more, even if it’s limited vis. I think it’s important to keep diving so that you’ll get used to diving and keep honing your skills from your dives.
Anyway, speaking of lake diving, I recently went to lake dive again. This time around with I-Divers. I heard that they organized lake dives from a friend and I immediately got in touch with them.
Although I-Divers is a dive centre that caters to recreational divers, the dive centre is more focused in more technical side of diving; mainly Nitrox, Trimix, Public Safety Divers, Full Face Mask Specialty and Rebreathers. I had the privilege to meet some technical divers in I-Divers dive centre and they shared some insight on tech diving with me and my husband; mainly about Trimix, and Rebreather. Listening to their stories and journeys, I think it’s pretty cool. If you’re interested in technical courses, I believe I-Divers is a go to place.
Here’s sharing with you my experience diving in a yet another lake in Klang Valley; the Saujana Putra Lake, with I-Divers.
Preparing the equipment for the dive
Since this is a limited visibility dive, a diving torchlight is a must have.
Dive site map and briefing
The dive spot was merely a 3 minutes walk away from the dive centre, and my instructors and guides were all very attentive, making it a pleasant experience for both me and my husband.
Max depth we went was 15.5m, 61mins bottom time with vis about 1-2m. You can actually dive deeper than that over here at Saujana Putra Lake, up to 25m, but since I’m just an Open Water Diver with only 18m max limit, we only explored up to 16m.
Buoyancy control and focus is a must here. There are plenty of structures around and you wouldn’t wanna crash into them.
It was a good dive at the lake, with 1-2m vis, saw plenty of creatures like fish&juvenile prawns, and some structures; the ‘No Entry, Divers Only’ signboard, tukun and even a wreck.
It’s really an interesting dive despite of the low vis. I enjoyed the dive immensely.
I was informed that this particular dive site is a training ground for uniform body like Bomba and Public Safety Diver as well technical divers, but adventurous divers with Open Water Certification is welcome to try.
Limited visibility diving have it charms too, in my opinion. There’s so much to explore down there.
Diving is not all just about the pretty fishes and corals. To me, it’s all about exploring and a huge adventure. This is my second lake dive experience and I just hit 12 logged dive with this.
Unlike my first lake dive where I was really nervous, I wasn’t so nervous this time around as more or less I already know what to expect from lake diving, which is severely limited visibility. That said, I hope to do more lake diving in the nearest future. This definitely won’t be my last.
Note: In case you are curious, my first lake dive was in Empangan Semenyih in Hulu Langat. You can read more about it HERE.

Jornguan Little Farm Thai Rice Snacks
I did quite a lot of things in March 2021, despite the travel restriction was still imposed by Malaysian government. Throwback to March; I went to a couple of Ramadan events, took up Nitrox Specialty and gotten myself certified as a Nitrox Diver, went camping and I even went lake diving with my dive buddies. To be honest, I’m quite impressed with what I’ve achieved in March, considering we’re still under the state of national emergency.
Come April 2021, what did I do? Geez, I don’t know. It’s already mid April, and yet apart from sightseeing in Sky Mirror at Kuala Selangor earlier this month, it doesn’t seems like I’ve done much except for marathoning and binge-watching Thai Lakorns. Well, you can’t blame me, can you? Thai Lakorns are addictive. They’re even more addictive and intense than Cdramas and Kdramas, I kid you not. If you’ve watched Thai Lakorns, you’ll know what I mean. And oh, their Nang’ek and Pra’ek (female lead&male leads) are really hot and yummy.
Okay, okay. I’ll stop my fangirling. Let’s talk about Thai snacks instead. Here’s sharing with you my current favourite Thai snacks, the Jornguan Little Farm Thai Rice Snacks.
If Thai Lakorns and their Nang’ek and Pra’ek are addictive to watch, then these snacks are even more addictive and irresistible.
Jornguan Little Farm Thai Rice Snacks comes in 3 flavours; Butter Flavour, Chilli Paste Flavour and Sea Crab.
Little Farm Thai Rice Snack- Butter Flavour is really nice. Like the name suggest, it taste buttery, and slightly salty. Makes a great snacking companion if you don’t fancy spicy food. Children will find this flavour delightful on their palate. If you don’t like overwhelming flavours or can’t take spicy food, then this flavour is highly recommended.
Little Farm Thai Rice Snack- Chilli Paste Flavour is not for the faint hearted. This one is an explosion of flavour and is pretty hot and spicy. Those who loves flavourful snacks with tinge of spiciness will definitely appreciate it.
Little Farm Thai Rice Snack- Sea Crab Flavour. This one is my favourite. It taste pretty much like crabs, in the form of rice snack, that is.
I know I’ve been whining on social media about gaining weight due to the lack of exercise and staying home too much, and some of you will chide me for snacking while binge-watching drama and Lakorns, but give me some credit, okay? I know what I’m doing. These snacks I’ve been snacking on are made from healthy Thai black rice and they’re pretty much low in calories as they’re baked and not fried. The best part of all? These snacks also contains no preservatives, no artificial flavourings and no MSG! These snacks are rated by many as the most delicious Thai snacks and one a must get snack when you’re in Thailand.
Lucky us, it’s finally available in Malaysia. You can get it at:
*Family Mart
*Mix.com.my
*Fourbrothersmart
*Supervalue Mart
*Shopee
So, ladies and gentlemen, if you’re looking for low calories snack to munch on, be it as a treat, as a drama watching companion or during car rides, this might be your best bet.

Dental Check-up and Scaling Procedure at IFloss Dental
My last dental check up was way back in 2019, pre-Covid era. It’s way overdue considering now it is already the first quarter of 2021. I have been feeling slight discomfort every time I have to bite on the regulator during my dives, and I thought perhaps it’s time that I get my teeth checked.
And so, despite of not really wanting to go out of the house as the Covid19 cases is still on the rise, I dragged myself to IFloss Dental to get some help I badly needed.
IFloss Dental is located in Plaza Arkadia, at Desa Parkcity, Kuala Lumpur and it offers all sort of oral health services for both children and adults, and practicing strict Covid19 SOP as ruled by the government. You’re required to wear the mask at all times while waiting for your turn and practicing social distancing while in the clinic is a must.
The clinic is absolutely welcoming and children friendly, with spacious waiting area filled witg toys and books for little children.
This is Dr. Aaron Lai, my dentist. During consultation and a brief examination, I was informed that I needed a dental scaling and polishing treatment.
I was also told that apart from the nasty plaque and tartar buildups on my teeth, my gums are not in a very good condition too and I need lotsa help in that.
Scaling procedure is being carried by Dr.Aaron Lai. Specialized instruments are used to gently remove plaque and calculus deposits without harming the teeth. Basically, the scaler uses vibrations to loosen hardened tartar that sticks to the teeth or in between the teeth while the water spray is used to wash away the tartar and plaque debris.
This may look a bit highly graphic and rather uncomfortable, but if you are wondering if this is painful, I assure you that it’s not that painful. While I could practically feel all the dirty stuffs being gradually removed from it’s resting place, all I felt was merely strange sensation of my teeth being scraped every now and then.
After about 45 minutes of scaling, it is time for the the polishing procedure to wrap up the session. Teeth polishing is usually carried out after scaling to remove stains and make your teeth feel smooth and shiny. The polishing procedure was done with a soft rubber- dental instrument that spins. A toothpaste-like material is scooped up into the cup and was spun around on the teeth for a little for a good polish. Polishing just took a little while before the good doctor told me to rinse my mouth with water and mouthwash.
After the procedure was done, I was given an oral check up. A scanning was done and I was informed of my oral health condition before the doctor finally calling it a wrap. I was told that I was suffering from a gum disease where my gums were inflamed and I need a more frequent deep cleaning routine. Apart from that, I’m also adviced to get braces for my crooked teeth, but as far as braces goes…I’m not really considering it for the time being as it will impede me from biting onto the regulator properly while diving. Of course, if I really wanted to get braces and still dive, I can always consider using the full face mask, but that’s going to cost me heaps since I needed to take a specialty license to enable me to use a full face diving mask. It’s not something I’d like to do. At least not for now. Maybe I’ll get braces to correct my teeth once I get my full face mask specialty license, hopefully within two years.
Anyway, as far as scaling and polishing goes, it’s quite an experience. While it is is not very painful, it does gives me a strange sensation by the time the procedure ends. I could practically feel my teeth feeling really clean and smooth, which is something I’m not really used to. The surface of the teeth used to feel so coarse and uneven. And there are now tiny gaps in between the teeth as there are no more dirty plaque and tartar filling them up. Strange feeling, but I guess I can get used to it as I like the clean feeling in my mouth.
Post-scaling aftercare is not complicated. All you need to do is brush your teeth as usual, and if your teeth and gums were already in a bad shape prior to the procedure, you might want to remedy that by using toothpastes that’s specially made for sensitive teeth or those that helps fights bleeding gum. They will be very helpful in improving your oral health.
Wondering why my teeth still looks slightly yellow even after the procedure? Well, the original colour of my teeth is very yellow, so there are no changes after teeth cleaning as the yellow colour comes from inside the tooth. Teeth whitening was not part of the treatment. Teeth whitening is strictly for cosmetic purpose where a cosmetic dental procedure that lightens pigmentation within the teeth is carried out. Don’t confuse it with scaling and polishing as it is a procedure that removes dental plaque, tartar and extrinsic stains that are present on the outer surface of the teeth. If I were to whiten my teeth, I got to do it in another appointment.
Before I pen down, I’d like to say that it is vital to visit your dentist every 4- 6 months depending on your dentist’s advice. Going for your regular dental check up not only helps keep your gums and teeth looking healthy and helps you give an attractive smile, but it also also allows early detection of any serious oral problems such as gum disease, cavities and even oral cancer.
IFloss Dental is offering all sorts of oral care services. I can’t tell about other services cuz I’m being completely honest here and I’ve only experienced their scaling service and check-up ( which was great, by the way), but in case you’re curious or would like to visit IFloss Dental for your checkup, their services are as listed as below:
1. Invisalign braces 2. Dental implant3. Teeth whitening5. Damon braces
