Mr. Pieman, Gourmet Pies Made to Order

I was an avid reader, even as a child. When I was a little girl, I loved to read stories about fairy tales and adventure. One of my favourite was ‘Hansel and Gretel’. Familar with that story? I’m sire most of you are familiar with that story. While it has a morbid beginning where the protagonists’ father left them in the forest to survive on their own, I have to admit that it is a delicious read, with all the descriptions about candy house filled with pastries and confectioneries. As a child, the story of Hensel and Gretel not only intrigue me, but make my mouth water by just imagining the pastries and delectable pies the children are having in the story.

While I have yet to stumble upon an edible house constructed by pastries and candies, I did chance upon a cafe serving gourmet pie quite some time ago.

 photo IMG_8702_zpsghimvtq3.jpg

Mr.Pieman. Located somewhere in TTDI, this cafe serves gourmet pies to hungry diners.

 photo IMG_8646_zpsqdhb49cs.jpg

Upon entry, I discovered that this cafe does not only serves gourmet pies but some pastas and cakes as well. Pretty much late and hungry, my family and I decided to have some pies for dinner. And here’s sharing with you what we had that day.

 photo IMG_8639_zpszgihhpvw.jpg

Ice Lemon Tea to quench our thirst. It was just nice. Was not overly sour or sweet, with distinctive tea taste still intact.

 photo IMG_8653_zpsf9gf7eia.jpg

Pot Pie (Beef)

 photo IMG_8694_zpsdxyhdfk9.jpg

The pot pie comes with a side of fresh salad and chicken soup and was generously filled with chunks of beef. Flavourful and tasty, it was gone in a jiffy.

 photo IMG_8663_zpsxtb4kusw.jpg

Sausage rolls. Great for small eater as the portion was not particularly big. Children will probably like this.

 photo IMG_8680_zpsoahzpqzq.jpg

Chicken Rendang Pie. Irresistibly unique, this delectable pie is not something to be missed if you love savoury pastries. It was bursting with flavours.

 photo IMG_8668_zpsuk3kcgev.jpg

Tuna quiche

 photo IMG_8686_zpsnsx2za5k.jpg

Not a fan of fish dish, so this doesn’t appeal to me much but my husband and son loves it, so I guess this dish is worth your calories too.

 photo IMG_8745_zpsdk18dp1a.jpg

Being a fan of all things desserts and coffee, my husband ordered this off the menu to share for dessert, but was sorely disappointed that they couldn’t customize the mocha to his liking as they are using pre-set espresso machine, but the mocha wasn’t too bad. Slightly on the bitter side, it makes great companion for the lonesome Chocolate Chip Cookies and Chocolate Lava Cake.

Overall, the dining experience at Mr.Pieman was quite comforting. It feels as if you are having pies directly from your grandma’s oven. I would recommend this place to all pastry lovers out there, but not hardcore coffee lovers.

The pies are made to order and delivery plans is still in progress. For more info on Mr.Pieman, please refer below:

Shogun2u, Nutritious Meals on Wheels

I’m a busy woman. Busy and have quite a screwed up diet. Skipping breakfast, lunch and dinner is a norm to me. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not bulimic or anything. I like food. Love food, actually, but most of the time, my son and husband is not always around for a sit down meal on working days. I just hate to cook and eat on my own. It is just so sad and a lonely. Plus, it usually takes longer to cook than to eat on daily basis.

I just hate to go through all the hassle of cooking and cleaning just so that I could eat on my own, so I rather just eat out most of the time and only cook when all of my family members are at home for a sit down meal. I believe cooking is something that should be leisurely enjoyed and shouldn’t be a chore.

Unfortunately for me, eating out is not only costly, but can be unhealthy too. My friend Jane, knowing my nasty habit of not eating well daily got quite concerned about my well being and introduced me to a food delivery/ catering service known as Shogun2u.com; an online food platform for ordering tasty and affordable meals from top chefs.

Shogun2U makes it easier for people with busy work schedules, adventurous palates with household budgets by ordering meals online. I’m usually skeptical about food delivery services as I have pretty bad experience with most of them, but as of writing, I have ordered 4 times in a span of one week from Shogun2u. That alone says a lot, don’t you think?

Right now Shogun2u only deliver meals to certain areas in Klang Valley, and here’s a little tutorial on how to place an order from Shogun2u.

 photo Screenshot_2015-10-05-19-53-09_zpswirbqynb.png

First of all, go to Shogun2u website and register and account. Do keep in mind that registered users gets more privileges like free delivery and such.

 photo IMG_20151010_053243.jpg_zpseblcrxzs.png

Once registered and logged in, choose your delivery area.

 photo IMG_20151010_054343.jpg_zpsiuya2flx.png

Choosing delivery area will enable you to place order.

 photo Screenshot_2015-10-05-19-55-14_zps6ns1osto.png

To place an order, simply click on their sidebar and choose whatever item from the menu that you want to order. If you are looking for fast food, you will be sorely disappointed as they only offer nutritious and balanced meals for delivery.

 photo Screenshot_2015-10-05-19-57-00_zpskztxu3na.png

Click add on the item and it will be included in your shopping cart.

 photo Screenshot_2015-10-05-19-57-58_zpsykq8kcrz.png

This is how it will look like in your cart. To order more than once, close the cart and just click again on the menu to the amount that you desired.

 photo Screenshot_2015-10-05-23-44-00_zpso9l6asa7.png

Remember to double check your order at the shopping cart before you check out and confirm your order. You may also choose your delivery time according to your own convenience. Shogun2u makes meal planning possible as you could place meal order ahead of time.

 photo IMG_20151010_060040.jpg_zps124ft3nq.png

Remember to insert any promo discouny code that is usually available at the main site to get extra value for your money before confirming your order and making payment. You may choose cash on delivery or online payment via MOL portal. Once done, just sit back and relax and wait for your rider to deliver the food to your doorstep.

 photo Screenshot_2015-10-05-13-51-28_zpsnkq1ftgl.png

Live customer support is available via chat. All you need to do is just launch the chat and enter the chatroom if you have any questions regarding your orders.

 photo DSCN7650_zpsm9ee7wta_edit_1444059504845_zpssqqkxefc.jpg

Delivery time stated is usually 1 hour or 1 hour 30minutes during rainy or peak hour, but according to my experience, the rider usually arrives within 30-45mins. Out of 4 times of delivery, two times was early. The riders are usually friendly and very polite. Upon arrival, they will hand over your order and you may check the items you ordered before making payment if you opt for cash on delivery.

 photo DSCN7653_zpssjweeswz_edit_1444060323551_zpsxw2jtmfp.jpg

Here’s what I ordered for the first time: Yakiniku Bento set, Gyoza, extra Japanese rice and Miso Soup.

 photo DSCN7655_zpsagffojjw_edit_1444060373929_zpsfnh06php.jpg

For a food delivery service, Shogun2u definitely exceeds my expectations. The food was still warm upon arrivals and was still fresh. The portion was hugely satisfying. One set of this is more than enough for two pax. Tastewise, the food was okay too, so yes. I approve this delivery service.

So if you are a busy person like me or needs some time out from the kitchen, you may want to order from Shogun2u. They currently have a 40% off promotion ongoing til 15 October 2015. For more updates and information, hop over to https://facebook.com/Shogun2U

Celebrate #LifeInTheBestLight

Light is an integral part of our life – affecting our emotion and spirit; it shapes the unique ways in which we each see the world. Transitions® Adaptive lenses help us harness the power of light and empower us to pursue our passions. Can you think of a better way to enjoy the marvels and breathtaking landscapes the world has to offer with the best light possible?

Here are Transitions top five places in the world that is a must visit to Celebrate #LifeInTheBestLight

 photo Holiday-in-Marrakech-Morocco-9_zpssnge98ex.jpg

Morroco. The “Red City” of Marrakesh is a magical place, brimming with markets, gardens, palaces, and mosques. Exploring the intimate courtyards and snaking alleyways of the historic Medina can easily eat up a day. Find inner peace at the serene Jardin Majorelle or take in the beauty of one of the city’s historic mosques (taking note that, unless you are Muslim, you are not allowed to enter).

 photo Siem-Reap_zpsnzwlmpsl.jpg

Siem Reap. When the morning light washes over the overgrown temples and ruins of Angkor Wat, a simple Siem Reap sunrise becomes a profound event. The ancient structures are contained within one of the largest religious complexes in the world. The complex and the 12th century Angkor Thom royal city are considered the main reasons to visit Siem Reap. Get a lesson in national history at the Cambodian Cultural Village, and a lesson in bargaining at the Angkor Night Market, a bonanza of shopping stalls, food vendors, and bars.

 photo buenos-aires_2_zpsqxyfox8n.jpg

Buenos Aires. The birthplace of the tango is, like the dance itself, captivating, seductive and bustling with excited energy. Atmospheric old neighborhoods are rife with romantic restaurants and thumping nightlife, and Buenos Aires’ European heritage is evident in its architecture, boulevards and parks. Cafe Tortoni, the city’s oldest bar, will transport you back to 1858, and the spectacular Teatro Colon impresses just as it did in 1908. This Latin America’s shopping capital offers the promise of premium retail therapy along its grand, wide boulevards.

 photo cape-town_zpsanopa1ov.jpg

Cape Town, #9 on the list of Travelers’ Choice Destination World Winners, glistens at the southern tip of the African continent. Picture-perfect views at Blaauwberg Beach and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens are within easy driving distance of “The Mother City.” The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve provides sweeping sea vistas, hiking trails and wildlife encounters. On a more somber note, travelers can visit Robben Island, the prison where Nelson Mandela was held for 27 years.

 photo barcelona-spain-1_zpstdtywgtw.jpg

Barcelona feels a bit surreal – appropriate, since Salvador Dali spent time here and Spanish Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí designed several of the city’s buildings. Stepping into Gaudí’s Church of the Sacred Family is a bit like falling through the looking glass – a journey that you can continue with a visit to Park Güell. Sip sangria at a sidewalk café in Las Ramblas while watching flamboyant street performers, then create your own moveable feast in this Travelers’ Choice Destination by floating from tapas bar to tapas bar.

For some of us, ‘Phasmophobia’ – the fear of ghosts feels very real. We experience a certain thrill of anxiety when we are told ghost stories or watch movies that feature supernatural or paranormal activities. However, Phasmophobia is also very difficult to diagnose. Most people are able to control this fear but for others, this fear can be overwhelming, life limiting and at times affect our daily life.

As a champion overcomer, the only way to work towards this fear is to dive headfirst into your biggest nightmare. Before you retaliate and throw the question, “Are you kidding me?” you need to convince yourself that these ghosts are merely fiction and a figment of your imagination. And as humans, we are capable of creating things that we struggle to understand in the first place.

To overcome this fear, it is best to get a few friends together to support you. Start off with the biggest immersive experience of this year’s Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights 5, Singapore’s only fully immersive Halloween experience that will run for 14 nights across 5 weekends, starting 2nd October 2015.

While you are at the event, keep convincing yourself that these ghosts are nothing but creative human characters created to entertain us. Who knows, instead of being scared, you may actually find it very amusing and may end up enjoying the night. Take this opportunity to find creative ways to spook your friends too while you are there.

This year’s Halloween Horror Nights 5 will be a new chapter of True Singapore Ghost Stories inspired by horror stories on the train, an epidemic-stricken HDB block, a hell house featuring effigies and experience the first ever dark house, a fortress named Tunnel People.

Be a Champion Role Model

Fostering Teamwork towards Achieving Something Greater at The Forest Adventure

Professional Tennis Champion, Caroline Wozniaki once said, “I try to be myself and of course, be a good role model. I don’t really find it hard, but you think about what you do, and that other people look up to you.” A Champion understands that it is important to influence and inspire others. And one of the ways a champion can cultivate important values into others is by fostering good teamwork.

Fostering teamwork brings many benefits for all, because not only will the champion not be walking on his journey of success alone, but he or she will also be creating a culture that will grow and work together in achieving a common goal.
