Tedmi Malaysia Fun Retreat: Wave Resthouse & Cafe, Jeram

In my previous post, I mentioned that I scored myself a holiday package, and promised you that I’d share more about it, didn’t I? Well, never let it be said that I don’t keep my promise. ;) Here’s sharing with you a series of my experience retreating with Tedmi Malaysia team at Wave Resthouse & Cafe.

Wave Resthouse& Cafe is basically a homedstay that provided not only guesthouse services but various of planned activities for its guests. You’ll be staying in the same ground of the hosts’ family where they will treat you like part of them. Most of the activities during your stays are designed to connect you to nature, and you can safely add this place as part of eco-tourism attraction that should be added into your bucket list.

Planned activities includes: Exploring mangrove forest, bicycle ride to the beach, birdwatching and craft making. Not necessarily in that order though, as weather factor is always considered for safety reasons.

I’ll be sharing more about the activities, but first, let’s take a look at the guesthouse, shall we?

 photo DSCN6619_zpsmsoeilzw_edit_1441953753809_zpsxj34k8xz.jpg

The place is located at Jeram, somewhere between Klang and Kuala Selangor and is about 80 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur.

 photo DSCN6584_zpsezrr78cu.jpg

View from the front. Wave Resthouse& Cafe is pretty much unique and hard to miss. It was built with double deck office cabins that’s often seen in construction sites, with an extra top roof covered. Air conditioner is installed in each rooms, so there are no worries for the heat.

View from the back of the resthouse

View from top. There is a common area in front of the reception where you could have meals together.

Bicycle for riding spotted in the vicinity. They are free to use.

Bicycle for children with training wheels attached can also be found.

Lifejackets for both children and adults spotted hanging at the back for boat ride to the sea and birdwatching activities.

Another cute cabin spotted.

My family’s cabin was the one with balcony and with magnificent river view.

 photo DSCN6561_zpsshxvozll_edit_1441961262475_zpsfivxnlez.jpg

A peek inside shows that the room is pretty basic. There is no entertainment unit whatsover, but trust me, the place will keep you occupied with planned activities that you won’t even have time to complain.

 photo DSCN6563_zpskvnrdaks.jpg

Huge King sized bed. Extra mattress to accommodate children will be prepared upon request.

 photo DSCN6564_zpslobdq5ll.jpg

All rooms are air conditioned.

 photo DSCN6567_zpsebvbhttx.jpg

Bathroom attached in the room.

Their package starts from RM139 for adults and RM69 for kids on weekdays and from RM169 for adults and RM69 for kids on weekend and public holidays. There are 9 available rooms and the entire resthouse can cater up to 30 pax. The place is about 60km away from Kuala Lumpur. You may drive there using Waze: https://waze.to/lr/hw28413e6s.

Packages includes accommodation, seafood dinner, breakfast, bicycle riding to the beach, mangrove forest exploration tour, craft making and bird watching at the sea. Overall, the place is very unique and inviting and highly recommended especially for family with young children . I’ll be writing about their planned activities next, so stay tune for more.

Tedmi, Fun and Rewarding Social Media Apps

Meet my new best friend. A huge and cuddly red bear.

 photo FB_IMG_1441880305203_zpsnejccqag.jpg

Say hi to Tedmi, my new cuddly love interest. This is no ordinary bear, mind you. He is the official mascot and everyone’s best friend for a fun and rewarding social media application, Tedmi.

So, what’s actually Tedmi? What kind of apps is it you ask me? Allow me to explain, my dear readers, before you hop away, thinking that this is just another one of those boring and useless apps that will just make your phone slow down and bloated. I know that there are tonnes of apps in the market but Tedmi is uniquely different and in my humble opinion, stands put above the rest as it is not only rewarding, but cute and fun as well.

Basically, Tedmi Malaysia is a social media apps that allows you to not only get the latest news but enables you to be rewarded with various vouchers and coupons from participating merchants. I have recently scored myself a 2d1n holiday package by just using Tedmi, but before I share my experience about it, allow me to share what Tedmi is all about and how to use it.

Tedmi is compatible with both Android and iOS so all you need to do is look up in your respective marketplace to download the apps.

I’m using Android based phone so here’s looking up on Playstore for Tedmi. Unlike others voucher apps, Tedmi is FREE to use. There is no fees whatsoever in comparison to other social media reward applications that is available in the market.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-02-08_zpsvfrwkely.png

To start using Tedmi, you will of course need to install it. First, search for Tedmi Malaysia and you will end up here on this page.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-02-15_zps5nbyvzaj.png

Click install and Tedmi will be automatically downloaded and installed in your smartphone.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-17-59-21_zpsj3r30hws.png

Upon installation, open the apps by clicking on the Tedmi red bear icon on your phone and you will directed to this page. To start using Tedmi, you will need an account. To do that, you may choose to register an account via email or simply use your Facebook account to login and your account will be automatically created.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-02-44_zpsjczgwh7h.png

Once your account has been created, you can take a look at your profile and verify all your personal information there.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-07-16_zpse2iu3qcf_edit_1441881974571.png_zpsqq92d12c.jpeg

I opt to verify both my email and phone number along with the login password for security reason. There is a bonus reward in that as by verifying all your personal info, you will be rewarded with either a random Mi eggs or Mi experience point that will enable you to upgrade your Mi characters that will allow you to redeem more exclusive items.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-06-20-38-00_zpsanhlhuvh.png

One of the Mi egg that I found after verifying my account.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-19-05-34_zpsgg5v8toc.png

The eggs found usually will hatch in 24 hours and you can level them up by using your experience points for more rewards and benefits. Upgraded version of these Mi characters can also be automatically unlocked as your level grows.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-06-13_zpsisxobp2r.png

Mi characters. They are actually functional avatars. Collect them all and upgrade them by using your experience points to enable more exclusive benefits offered by Tedmi Malaysia and the participating merchants. In other words, the higher your Mi characters are, the more benefit you will get. There is a lot of Mi to collect and may also choose to change avatars regularly by just clicking on these Mi characters.

Tedmi is pretty interesting. It provides both news updates on your timeline as well as vouchers to redeem.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-04-38_zpsxf8i3nwe.png

One of the news from merchants.

 photo FB_IMG_1441880133209_zpsi9lvlmsy.jpg

You can bookmark your favourite news or posts and read it later from your profile.

Apart from that, you may also share interesting posts you saw in your Tedmi account with your friend on your social media account. Checkout the video above, courtesy of my friend, Azuki.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-57-34_zpson9mmwse.png

I did mentioned that the apps is rewarding, right? Well, Tedmi apps allow you to save 1 voucher ticket from participating merchants every 10 minutes.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-05-48_zpsma6hyc5s.png

The ‘wallet’ allows you to keep up to 50 vouchers at one time. Up in the screenshot is mine. I’m a foodie, naturally most vouchers I chose to save is of course, food related ones. They have wide range of vouchers you can save up and redeem, so keep a lookout for interesting vouchers.

 photo FB_IMG_1441880411646_zpsrpogztke.jpg

I scored myself a lucky draw as a Tedmi user. It was a premium ticket to 2d1n holiday retreat in The Wave Rest House&Cafe in Jeram, Selangor. So did I redeem it? Of course I did and I got to say that I never felt happier using an app like I did Tedmi. So how did I redeem?

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-05-31_zpshybse3mj.png

Easy. I just went to the guesthouse, mentioned Tedmi and scan the QR code for my ticket.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-19-23-08_zpsdkzcbwgk.png

To redeem, just go to respective merchant, show them the ticket in your ‘wallet’ and scan a QR code from them in your Tedmi, redeem and enjoy.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-05-55_zpscgfxzfqx.png

I redeemed mine and I had a huge blast last weekend with my family in The Wave Guesthouse and Cafe in Jeram, Selangor with Tedmi Malaysia team. Will be sharing my fantastic experience soon, but for now, if you are not a Tedmi user yet, please install it and start having fun! Tedmi will be releasing more interesting features with more fun, more reward soon, so use now, and stay tune for more exciting things with Tedmi.

Behind the Scene at Matic FM, Travel with Style

Have you ever wondered how it is like to be a radio deejay? I used to wonder how it’s done when I was a child, after all, at some point of my childhood, I thought of becoming a deejay when I’m all grown up. Unlike TV hosts or news presenters, deejays are pretty much mysterious. You don’t ever get to see them, period. Most of them keep you cheerful in the morning, while the rest accompanied you throughout those long lonely nights with soothing sentimental songs in between.

As time goes by, radio stations has evolved into something that’s much more interactive. Instead of just hearing deejay voices, you can now ‘watch’ them on air too as some radios functioned as online TV.

Now, as I understand, while deejays are no longer dubbed as mysterious creature or imaginary superheroes, things that’s done behind the scene is still pretty much vague to most, so here’s sharing some bits and pieces on how things works behind the scene at the newly launched Matic.fm.

Matic.fm is one of the strategic initiatives by Tourism Malaysia and Ministry of Tourism & Culture under the Blue Ocean Strategy (BOS) to enliven the tourism and culture in Malaysia.

With the tagline ‘Travel with Style’, Matic.fm aims to provide listeners with information that’s related to culture and travel, so expect to have some culture shock and online food indulgence.

 photo DSCN6537_zpshifqweqs.jpg

OB Van. This is Matic.fm official vehicle where the crew and news hunter will travel around with in order to bring to the sensational travel news and exciting stories from all over Malaysia.

 photo FB_IMG_1441336980867_zps0v2inndl.jpg

Here’s a closer look at the OB van.

 photo DSCN6540_zpsy2zvzw2n.jpg

The van’s interior. Quite chic, don’t you think? I certainly wouldn’t mind traveling in this. I think it would be quite an adventure traveling to interesting places in Malaysia by using this van.

 photo DSCN6514_zpsl7zooott.jpg

This is where news and interesting segments is made, the studio. Here’s Mr. Wan Salam, the producer for Matic.fm, conducting a test run before going on air.

 photo DSCN6528_zpsvdyvefei.jpg

Control panel and sound system. Being a deejay is not just talks. It takes more than that to be one as you would need to handle not only the talking and the listeners, but ensure that everything is in sync while your show is being aired live.

 photo IMG_20150903_202740_1_zps94vn5ave.jpg

During the test run for ‘Bicara Semasa’. :p Pretty cool huh? It’s just like any ordinary TV talk show, except that it’s not on conventional TV and you will be able listen and watch these free of charge as long as you have Internet on your computers or mobile devices.

The radio-based tourist information is actually an (IP Radio) and can be heard and seen throughout the world online either through a mobile app Tune In, smart phone or through the website www.matic.fm, so what are you waiting for? Download Tune In and travel in style with Matic.fm now!

Santai Teh Tarik Tourism: Culture and Heritage Tourism

In my previous blog post I’ve written about ‘Voluntourism PUSPANITA IM4U program at Pantai Bagan Lalang, Sepang, Selangor where my family and I had the privileges to partake in the program first hand. It is not easy to keep the environment clean and green, hence, from that day onwards I stopped taking things for granted. Anyway, as mentioned in my previous blog post, we were also brought to ‘Voluntourism PUSPANITA IM4U event place at Pantai Bagan Lalang.

There’s plenty of interesting things going on. One in particular is the Santai Teh Tarik Tourism. Initially, I thought it was merely a ‘teh tarik’ session where you can discuss all things related to tourism and travel, but I was wrong. It was more than just mere table talk session.

There is also an ongoing festival that showcased all things related to Malaysian heritage and culture.

 photo IMG_6855_zps0wtigtjr.jpg

Santai Teh Tarik Tourism in session. I was told that it’s actually an event, or rather series of tour where each Santai Teh Tarik tourism is held at different interesting tourist attractions in Malaysia. Discussion topic or theme is different every time. The previous edition that my family and I went to was Santai Teh Tarik Tourism: Culture& Heritage Tourism. The discussions was of course, all things related to traveling to domestic attractions that is rich in culture and heritage.

Apart from the Teh Tarik Tourism, there’s plenty of things going on there too.

 photo IMG_6844_zpsorogsz4y.jpg

Musical performance by school children

 photo IMG_6760_zps9fjoix0w.jpg

Friends from Tourism Malaysia Selangor. They were responsible for manning the Tourism Malaysia Selangor booth. Note to readers: Approach them if you ever spot them at any events. They have plenty to share with you, especially attractive places in Selangor. And oh, they are generous too. They usually handout magazines, brochures, tourism swags, magnets and badges and many more to the public as an initiative to promote domestic travel.

Dodol making in progress.

 photo IMG_6824_zpscgmcqcul.jpg

Dodol is a sweet toffee-like confection, popular in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Burma. It is made with coconut milk, jaggery, and rice flour, and is sticky, thick and sweet.

In Muslim majority countries, such as Indonesia and Malaysia, Dodol is commonly served during festivals such as Aidilfitri and Aidiladha as sweet treats for children. People take pride in making homemade dodol during the Aidilfitri, where family members or community will gather together to make Dodol.

 photo IMG_6833_zpsfnfohhab.jpg

Distributing Dodol to the public. If you haven’t had the opportunity to try this traditional delicacy, make sure to try it soon. I dare say that it’s worth your calories.

The event place was actually scorching hot and I did not managed to visit all participating booths because I was already feeling so worn after walking halfway. These are only a part of the things being showcased to the public.

A huge fan of all things cultural, I sure hope to be able to see more things like this in the nearest future and perhaps, next time I’ll be able to share more. :)

Voluntourism PUSPANITA IM4U at Pantai Bagan Lalang Sepang, Selangor.

The Ministry of Tourism and Culture (MOTAC) has organized ‘Voluntourism PUSPANITA IM4U @ Pantai Bagan Lalang, Sepang, Selangor back in 22th August 2015.

The program is under the initiative of the Blue Ocean Strategy or “National Blue Ocean Strategy” (NBOS) with the involvement of various parties, including the Government, NGOs and the private sector. The program also involves the participation of several parties, including the PUSPANITA, MOTAC and the agencies under it, IM4U, City Council Sepang, Selangor Homestay Association, Sepang Goldcoast Sdn Bhd and volunteer travelers (‘Voluntourism’) comprising students from various institutions and people from all walks of life.

That day, the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MATIC) representative on behalf of JKKN invited us to join in the program, in support of tourism and culture as well as programs organized by the Ministry. My family and I decided that it will do us good to do some volunteer job to give back to Mother Nature.

We were brought to visit the Mobile Library, Booths and Exhibition site where Santai Teh Tarik Tourism sessions will be held before heading to the beach.

A much more beautiful shot of the beach after cleaning it up. Isn’t it breathtaking?

It was certainly an interesting experience, to be able to participate in this voluntourism program.

I thought it is a good value one could teach the younger generation who usually couldn’t care less about the preservation of blue planet to be a part of it.

Check out what my friend and co-host, Deejay Koz on what he thinks about the program. Interviewed by yours truly and video recording by my husband, Garfield.

Visit Malaysia in 4 Minutes

It is unfortunate that most Malaysians thinks that the grass is greener on the other side. When it comes to holidays, getaways or even traveling with loved ones, most prefers to go overseas, which is a real shame as we have so many things to see and enjoy in Malaysia, just in our own backyard.

Don’t you know that Malaysia is a very beautiful country rich with cultural diversity? People from all over the world flocks our country just so that they could experience it, why can’t we see Malaysia the same way?

In some ways, it is true that to see how beautiful a country is, you ought to see it in a different perspective, preferably in the views of a tourist. Here’s sharing a video by RJVN Dance Crew (Rejuvenate Dance Crew) where they will bring you to beautiful places around Malaysia in just 4 minutes.

‘Travel Around Malaysia in 4 Minutes’ video.

Beautiful places are all just nearby. Let’s explore our own ‘backyard’ and get to know beautiful Malaysia the way it should be known.
