Hi Karen,

A longish answer to your question is in my blog post below:

https://caknutsen.com/2016/09/inspira... (Or you can click on this post on this page below)

A short answer is that I wanted to write about what we can be as a species. We seem to continue hurt each other; in our actions as individuals, in the groups we form (religious, skin color etc), the way nations interact with each other, and the way we treat our planet and the other life on it. We are better than this, or at least I think we can be. So I wrote the Janus Unfolding series populating it with an emergent version of us who do not act out of fear, but rather have a deep reverence for life in all its forms, and are driven to make things better.(less)

Tom and G.E.R.I. 2.0

It’s not every day you encounter a woman who has been on Earth 150 years and who wants you to travel across the Galaxy to solve an urgent problem. Tom Williams hadn’t been planning to go on a trip anywhere. He has been content to explore his forest where he recently found a Galactic Exploration and Research Intelligence (G.E.R.I.) that he named GERI. GER

Fast moving, interesting recommend

I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the second. The Author quickly describes the setting, points the direction, and pulls the reader into the action. Two minor editing issues: a admirals name is changed in

“I couldn’t make sense out of what I was seeing. There was a shiny metal arm about an inch thick with a joint in the middle and a knob on the end. The arm was knocking the knob against the window. The oddest thing was that the arm wasn’t connected to anything. It appeared to be floating by itself in midair!”
C.A. Knutsen, Tom and G.E.R.I.

“You have just placed yourself in an untenable position, Mr. Mathews. You have made a threat that you cannot carry out. I’m not intimidated by your gun, so I won’t be going anywhere with you. I think you should re-read the book on successful information gathering techniques.”
C.A. Knutsen, Tom and G.E.R.I.

“He wasn’t being arrogant. It wasn’t self-confidence that a human would have because they had been successful in the past. GERI was simply certain he would be successful because he was what he was—a superlative intellect, perhaps the only one of his caliber.”

“When I lamented the sale of the gold bars, GERI said it wasn’t a problem because there was a more than enough of the metal below the floor of the barn where I was sitting.”

“Mr. Williams, in your short time boarding with us you’ve seen very little of my home,” Eleanor said. “I’d like you to see the rest of it, starting with my bedroom.”
