Canada Geese
O’er rivers and mountains,
they soar on the wing,
to warmer climes
until the spring.
Scribbling patterns
in twilight skies,
reminding us all
we fly, we fly.
O’er lakeland kingdoms
we hear their cries,
piercing the silence
their sounds in the skies,
writing their poems,
that tell us all
we rise, together,
and cannot fall.

Differences between Amateur Writers and Professional Writers by Suzy Davies
Amateur writers often share some of the characteristics of professionals; very often the difference between a very good amateur and a professional is minuscule. But that tiny difference is what sets the professional apart from the rest.
I would say that the main difference in methodology is that professional writers have a regular writing routine that works for them and they are productive. They work at it consistently and are focused. Amateurs, on the other hand, may not always stick to a routine, and the cumulative effect of this over time is that they lose momentum and they do not sharpen their skills.
The mindset of a professional writer is that they have their eyes firmly fixed on the ball. They are in it for the long-term. They are committed to the craft and are always working to improve their writing. Professionals will regard obstacles as challenges and any difficulties they may face will only strengthen their resolve. In sharp contrast, amateurs may sometimes sacrifice their writing for other pursuits. In addition, they may lack staying power.
This is a pity because amateurs, by definition, write for the love of it - not for the money. But it is possible for a very good amateur who is immersed in the craft to become a professional and earn money doing what they love.
One important factor for new professional writers is that they need to negotiate the fine line between writing what they want and what the market demands - what is commercial. This will usually entail an element of compromise. They also need to be responsive to change and keep up to date with an industry that is fast-paced.
Professional writers understand that being a writer is not only about writing but also about marketing and people-facing. You don’t have to be an extrovert, but you do need to be media savvy. Amateurs do not always understand that their books are a product and that as authors they are the PR team!
Look at any professionals in any field - sport, music, science, art, and you will find people who are adaptable, flexible and have made personal sacrifices to become the best they can be.

When Luna Dances in The Moonlight - a Poem/Song based on "Luna The Moon Pig" Picture Book
When Luna dances in the moonlight,
she makes us want to join in,
her feet have a rhythm as she takes flight,
like a little bird in the spring!
When Luna dances in the moonlight,
her eyes have a special glow,
her pretty face is always smiling,
she’s the loveliest piggy that we know!
When Luna dances in the moonlight,
her snout nods to the tune,
she swishes her tail,
like a sailboat sail,
gliding under the moon!
When Luna dances in the moonlight,
we all like to clap and sing,
as she sways to the music,
everything is magic -
and it’s all such a wonderful
all such a magical,
all such a beautiful thing!

Snugs The Snow Bear - A Poem
When there's snow on the ground,
Snugs gets out of bed,
and goes with the moose on a ride on a sled,
Grandad and grannie watch as they go,
slippedy sliding away in the snow.
When there's snow on the ground,
and the evening is here,
the lighthouse's lit up,
to bring them good cheer.
The moose they are snoring - so loud and so deep!
But Snugs is so glad because it's Christmas Eve!

Winter in Wales
Stillness, silence, snow, and frost,
the golden shades of Autumn, lost.
The fields crisp white, mountains high,
with snowy peaks that stretch to sky.
A solitary shepherd, in twilight,
searches for lambs before the night;
a faithful hound slips like a shadow
twixt stream and valley and sleepy hollow.
No-one stirs - not valley streams,
and all is frozen in our dreams.
The cottage huddled neath breast of hills,
all is silent as Time stands still.
A glimmer of light comes from yonder -
a tiny cottage awakes from slumber
and children run outside to play,
in crisp brightness of snowy day.
Everyone wakens - chapel bells ringing,
and from the churches, sounds of singing;
the landscape remembers the days of old,
our footsteps: fond memories, in the snow.

The Mystery
There’s a pattern to everything you see,
a petal, a flower, a fruit, a tree,
what hand, what power, created it all,
from the tiniest insect to canyons’ walls.
When I survey the green of the fields,
majesty of mountains,
power of the sea,
what hand what power maketh me;
this is our mystery.
There’s a rhythm to all we experience,
as suns cast daylight on circumstance.
The moon casts reflections and colors our dreams;
nothing appears as it first may seem.
Animals’ instincts know before,
at one with land or sea or air,
shoe-shod we crawl, while sensing naught,
when earth is free, yet sold or bought.
There’s a pattern to everything you hear,
from the cry of a baby, a bell, tolling near.
This life is ours, and no-one knows
the beginning of days,
the last judgment call.
For Time itself, it holds the keys,
a circle, a spiral, infinity -
and if God made each creature,
why can I not see
who made my God - The Mystery?

Poem - The Shaman - from The Cave Coming to Amazon Soon!
A Shaman flew o’er Bangkok
to a cave, when it was dark.
The wind it blew
through the black night,
and the Monsoon
fell, drop on drop.
She halted near a cave of magic,
where people say a princess, tragic,
took her life;
her love so deep,
and pools of water
are where she weeps.
The cave is but a royal tomb,
and blood runs
from the royal womb,
the lake’s waters,
a grave do make,
for men to drown
in waters’ wake.
The shaman’s vision saw it all
as drop on drop,
the rain did fall.
A stranger came
on a black steed,
to help her
in her hour of need,
“Sir,” said the shaman, “Please help me,
please. Tell the princess,
- set him free!”
The monk had eyes, honest and true,
he told the shaman
all he knew,
“Lek is safe,” he whispered soft,
then on his steed,
away did trot.
The horse’s mane
an ocean crest,
shone spectral light
where’er it went,
and thunderous hooves
made phantom sounds
that round the mountain
did resound.
And if you listen
on stormy nights,
some say you see them
as they ride,
through lush forests
near Tham Luang Cave,
where The Wild Boars
this History made.
