Suzy Davies is a writer of fairy tales.
She was born into a dual language family. Her dad was a lecturer, and her mum, a housewife. Both her parents were keen artists.
In her early days, Suzy lived in a big old mansion in Wales with her parents and her paternal grandmother.
The house made a huge impression on her in these formative years. There was something magical about it; it had iron gates, a long sweeping driveway. It had an island of trees screening it from the road as if it was a secret place of her very own.
In the neighbourhood, in spring, there were country lanes of wild flowers, in summer, hedgerows where berries grew. In autumn, the sea turned to stormy colors, in winter, frozen waterfalls were crystal tunnels. All year long, the

Celebrating the warmth of friendship, the river of life, the magic of adventure and scrumptiousness of Cheese, especially delightful when it is shared!

So, I have just launched my middle grade adventure book, “Housie Mousie and The BIG Cheese.” What gave me the idea for this new escapade?

I was inspired of course by the literary great, Kenneth Grahame, and the gorgeous hardback, with a dust cover, of “The Wind in The Willows,” that my dad gave me when I was young. I spent hours as a child pouring over the pages. Of course, the river and the animal Read more of this blog post »

“Books are a portable kind of time travel. We go back as well as forward when we read them. When we come back into the now, after being immersed in worlds previously unknown to us, we find ourselves, transformed. Touched by their magic, nothing we ever perceived beforehand remains quite the same.”
Suzy Davies

“Libraries are like caves. They are places of transformation. There are secrets hidden within those walls.”
Suzy Davies

“I want to sling a stone, a small rock into a pool, see it ripple. I want to shake a tree, create a small storm..”
Suzy Davies, Johari's Window

“Look at the moon," sighed Housie..."Is it true, Ratty, what they say?"
"Not really, I don't think it's really made of cheese," breathed Ratty. The river seemed to sigh with the motion of the oar, in and out of the water.
"Why not?" asked Housie Mousie.
"Someone would have eaten it long ago!" Ratty replied.”
Suzy Davies

“The light of the Moon reminds us that when we share the light of others, we shine in our own unique way”
Suzy Davies

“There is wisdom to be found in fairytales, a deeper meaning in the magic of their worlds”
Suzy Davies

“Writers are method actors. They become their character. They feel what he or she feels. They switch between viewpoints, always with a clear sense of their own selves as writers, and yet somehow losing themselves in their Art”
Suzy Davies

“The lady replied in a voice holding all the magic of the winter solstice. Her voice drew him in, chiming softly in the wind.”
Suzy Davies, The Snow Queen
