Every Free Chance Book Reviews: GIVEAWAY Lost in the Light by Mary Castillo

“When I was considering Lost in the Light, the story of a skeptical woman who befriends a ghost, I knew this ghost would be from the turbulent 20s. But I wanted to take Prohibition out of Chicago and New York, where it is typically set in books and movies, and see what it was like out here in California. It turned out that folks misbehaved just as much out here as they did on the East Coast.”

Storm Goddess Book Reviews & More: Q & A with Mary Castillo
“Lost in the Light is the book I’ve always wanted to write but was too afraid to do so! But with a lot of introspection (and tea), I took on the challenge to write a story that didn’t fit too neatly into a genre. I like novels that tell great stories with romance, mystery, drama and maybe a tragedy or two to keep me on my toes. There were moments while writingLost in the Light when, even as the author, the characters took me by surprise. Hopefully the same will happen to readers!”
Thank you so much to Storm Goddess Book Reviews for today’s spotlight!

“There were times that I jumped and times that I wanted to cry. To me that is the mark of a great story, the ability to elicit emotion from the readers.”

Four & a half stars from Chick Lit Plus!
“This book captivated me. The story brings in some of my favorite elements – mainly being mystery and the past. The ending might have been my favorite. No spoilers, but it wasn’t drawn out, too quick or anything cheesy, which I’ve seen happen with mystery novels like this. One of my favorite mystery reads of the year, and one to get your to-read list!”
Thank you so much to Samantha at Chick Lit Plus for a wonderful review!

It’s now in your hands

The house that inspired Lost in the Light
Releasing a book is saying goodbye to the characters and the world I’ve been visiting for the past two years. It’s bittersweet but hanging onto it would defeat the purpose of all the time and energy invested in drafting, revising, research, revising, editing, research, revising and, well, you get the idea.
So now that all the links are viable, I figured why wait till Monday. Lost in the Light is now available for $4.99 to download in your preferred format, and for $9.99 in print!
CreateSpace (print $9.99)
Kobo (coming soon)
As part of Monday’s Chick Lit Blog tour, here’s something to pay attention to: Purchase your copy of Lost in the Light (print or eBook) before October 22 to enter to win a $10 Amazon gift card! Forward your receipt to Samantha (at) ChickLitPlus (dot) com and get five entries into the drawing.
Thanks so much for all of the encouragement and support many of you have given to me these past five years. Every email, Twitter message and Facebook post made me smile and gave me the kick in the shorts to keep writing. Readers, I don’t think you realize how much you mean to us crazy authors!
I hope you enjoy the book with a pumpkin spice latte, or in your favorite place to curl up and read. Please don’t read it while driving or at work. I’d hate for you to get hurt or sent back to Kindergarten by your boss.
In the meantime, I’ll enjoy a few days of glorious TV-watching which will include the return of Boardwalk Empire and History Detectives, and then Susanna Kearsley’s new book before jumping into a new world with new characters.
Love, Mary

Still my favorite line…
“The good thing about discovering a guy lying in a pool of blood in your hallway – only to realize that he wasn’t real – was that it roused a girl into action.”
Only ten more days till the release! Till then check out the excerpt!

Four-star review!!!
“I think that the author weaves a fantastic tale through both worlds and we kind of see Dori evolve and grow through her experience and even able to allow her self to depend on others. I think this book is definitely worth picking up if you like a good historical mystery, with a touch of paranormal and a dash of romance. I will have to check out more of Ms. Castillo’s novels in the future.”
Woo hoo! Not only did some fantastic shoes arrive this weekend, but also a four-star review for Lost in the Light! Thanks so much to Carrie for reviewing the new book.

How cool is this: Switchcraft is today’s book of the day
Not only is today the Little Dude’s first day of first grade, but it’s also Mama’s first time that Book Pinning selected Switchcraft for its book of the day! Thanks so much, Book Pinning!
I wrote Switchcraft back when he was a seedling, and then revised it when he was a newborn. Yeah, we’ve come a long way since!
From The Back Cover
There’s a reason why shoes don’t come in one-size-fits all!
Best friends since back in the day, Aggie and Nely are as different as two women could possibly be. Aggie’s slim and stylish, owns an upscale boutique and a long history of no-strings relationships. Nely has a busy baby, a metiche mother-in-law, and some extra post-pregnancy pounds she can’t quite shed. And when they take a trip to a New Age spa, each friend finds herself wishing just a little that she had the other one’s life.
Big mistake!
Thanks to the metaphysical meddling of a somewhat grumpy guru, Nely is now Aggie and Aggie is Nely–switching bodies, love lives, families, closets…everything! The grass may not be quite as green as the other originally appeared. As luck has it, they’ll be stuck this way until the next full moon! And with a husband, his very suspicious mama, a temperamental tot, a business on the brink of disaster, and a sort-of boyfriend–not to mention a sleazy stalker–thrown into the mix, Aggie and Nely suddenly find they’re not just walking in each other’s shoes … they’re running!
