Happy Thanksgiving! from Egypt
Spending my Thanksgiving with intense gratitude for my wonderful friends here in Cairo: Richard, my scientific consultant on the AUC Press Nature Foldouts, and Yasmine, who is doing a fantastic job translating the Nature Foldouts into Arabic. I am so grateful!

The Egyptian Geological Museum – Egypt’s Prehistoric Fauna on Display!
Located near Maadi on Corniche el Nile in Cairo, the Egyptian Geological Museum is well worth a visit. Established in 1904, they have everything from minerals to dinosaur fossils found throughout Egypt.
Medhat Said, a geologist at the museum, has done me the great honor of displaying Egypt’s Prehistoric Fauna Nature Foldout in the main hall. Thank you so much Medhat!

AUC Press Meeting a Success!
Had a great meeting at American University in Cairo Press today, to discuss the success of the AUC Press Nature Foldouts, and the future for more titles in the series. While it has been a difficult year for everyone in Egypt, and the tourists are few, the AUC Press Nature Foldouts have received incredible enthusiasm and we are making plans for two new titles in the series… It was a great day, filled with optimism for the future, especially for Egypt despite signs of continuing unrest:
Behind me is the Tahrir Square memorial which had its inauguration last week on November 18th, and was destroyed hours later by protestors. http://www.egyptindependent.com/news/protesters-destroy-tahrir-square-memorial

Samek! !سمك Fish!
Heard a man announcing “Samek!” from the street outside my flat today. He carried a basket with his morning catch from the River Nile here in Luxor. Both fish are featured in Egypt’s Flora & Fauna: AUC Press Nature Foldouts: the Bulti Fish, or Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and the Nile Perch (Lates niloticus). The Nile Perch has a lifespan of 16 years in the wild, and can reach a length of nearly 2 m (more than 6 ft)!
