Movistar, favorite to take over MásMóvil frequencies
The market leader is the favorite over Vodafone to reinforce itself with the excess 30 MHz that the company resulting from the merger must still dispose of.
The Romanian telecom company Digi announced on December 12 an agreement with Orange and MásMóvil , the promoters of the largest telecom merger in Spain, to become the recipient of the remedies, the concessions that the two companies must offer.

Both Asus and ASRock have shared – presumably prematurely – more details about AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 8000G APUs. On the one hand, Asus lists six new SKUs on the support page of a B650 motherboard. This list includes the Ryzen 7 8700G, which can also be seen in a screenshot shared by ASRock. The manufacturer wants to prove that its motherboards are also capable of supporting 256 GB of DDR5 memory on a single platform.

Both the 8500G and the 8300G would have both types.
The table above lists all the new models mentioned on the Asus website. The information matches the rumors, with the exception of the Ryzen 5 Pro 8500G. This chip is said to have 8 cores on board, which is probably a spelling error. The Ryzen 3 8300G (Pro) has 4 cores, followed by 6 cores for the Ryzen 5 8500G and 8600G and 8 for the Ryzen 7 8700G. The latter is depicted in the screenshot below.
The 8700G features the Radeon 780M, which has up to 12 RDNA 3-based compute units.
In addition, the Twitterer HXL has made a striking observation: in the Asus list, B2 is mentioned for every model, which indicates the use of the recently unveiled Hawk Point. The integrated NPU of the Ryzen 8040 line is 60% more powerful than that of its predecessor, which means that these APUs could be an interesting option for accelerating AI-related workloads.

Asus announces ROG Phone 8 on January 9 and is already giving one away – Update renders and specs
Original message 15-12-2023, 11:53 –
Asus has confirmed that it will unveil its latest high-end smartphone at the CES trade show early next year. The company will hold a ROG event on January 9 at 12:00 (European time), which will feature the ROG Phone 8 of the same name. More information has already been released in the run-up to the introduction.
For example, a first official image shows that the manufacturer has opted for a relatively traditional design compared to previous generations, although there is a ROG logo with RGB lighting on the back. The cameras are no longer placed on a single line but are combined into a more square island.
In addition to the appearance, Asus also seems to have spent quite a bit of time on the performance of the cameras. The company has set up a blind test where users can vote for the best photos. Anyone who logs in with an Asus account also has a chance to win the device.
According to the most recent rumors, the ROG Phone 8 will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and up to 24 GB of RAM. Furthermore, the phone would support fast charging with a capacity of up to 65 watts. The official specifications should come to light within about five weeks. More details may emerge by then.
Update 15-12-2023, 15:54 –Windows Report has shared a mountain of information, including images and almost all specifications of the ROG Phone 8 and the 8 Pro. Asus has reportedly opted for a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution, which in the case of the Pro should be able to reach a refresh rate of 165 Hz. The website mentions the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for both devices, as well as a battery with “an equivalent of 5,500 mAh”. The regular edition comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the Pro allows users to choose between 16/24GB of RAM and 512GB/1TB of storage.
The camera system of the ROG Phone 8 Pro is said to be the same Sony IMX890 50MP main sensor as that of the OnePlus 11 and Nothing Phone (2). In addition, there is a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 32MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. It is not stated what kind of cameras the regular variant uses. Furthermore, some accessories are also discussed, such as the well-known active cooling solution.

Isidro Fainé sells 20,000 Telefónica shares for almost 74,000 euros
The president of Criteria Caixa and the La Caixa Foundation, Isidro Fainé, has sold 20,000 Telefónica shares for 73,600 euros, according to the records of the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
The manager, who is also vice president of the board of directors of Telefónica, has disposed of a total of 20,000 company securities at a unit price of 3.68 euros per share in a movement that took place this Thursday, December 14, but it has been notified by the CNMV this Friday.
The 3.68 euros at which Fainé sold Telefónica shares are above the 3.62 euros (-1.55%) at which the company’s trading closed on Friday’s trading day.
The shares of the operator chaired by José María Álvarez-Pallete lost last Tuesday the level of 4 euros that they had recovered on December 1.
In this sense, the company paid 862.5 million euros in dividends on December 14 (0.15 euros per share) and, in addition, Telefónica’s shares were affected this week by the agreement reached by Digi with Orange and MásMóvil to facilitate the merger of these last two companies.
Specifically, the Romanian operator has purchased 60 megahertz (MHz) of radio spectrum from MásMóvil, while at the same time it has closed a wholesale agreement option with Orange under advantageous conditions.
Although Digi’s agreement with Orange and MásMóvil is subject to the European Commission approving the merger – the provisional deadline to make the decision is February 15, 2024 – this move may represent a threat to the wholesale business that Telefónica has with Digi until 2026 and which represents, according to different analysts, income of around 300 million euros annually for the Spanish ‘teleco’.
Telefónica, which on November 8 celebrated its ‘Investor’s Day’ and presented its new strategic plan 2023-2026, is currently negotiating an employment regulation file in its three main subsidiaries in Spain (Telefónica de España, Móviles and Solutions), for which it has raised a “functional surplus” of staff of 3,959 workers (initially there were 5,124).
In parallel, the company is also negotiating with the unions the new collective agreement for related companies. Both negotiations are related to each other – although the dialogues to close the conditions of each one are independent – and must be resolved at the beginning of January.
Criteria CaixaSo far this year, Criteria Caixa has invested a total of 77.92 million euros in the acquisition of 20.93 million shares of the operator, according to CNMV records.
Specifically, the share package that the entity chaired by Isidro Fainé has acquired so far this year is equivalent to 0.363% of the total number of company securities.
As of November 30, 2023, Criteria Caixa’s shareholding in Telefónica stood at 2.53%, according to the holding company’s website.
X: Right-wing coffee parties and a cheerful chatbot
2023 was the year Twitter died. That’s the title of the US technology medium The Verge in a series of articles and somehow it’s true. On the one hand, Twitter is now called
Four developments in the past few weeks are symptomatic of this. From them you can determine what the status of the platform is and what challenges await in the coming months.
Since Sunday, Alex Jones has been allowed to publish content on X again. The right-wing US conspiracy theorist and his website InfoWars were banned in 2018. In the past, he had spread the word that the US government was involved in the attacks on September 11, 2001 in New York and that the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012 was staged by actors. Jones owes the families of those affected $85 million in damages, which he cannot pay because he is broke.
Prototypes of the iPhone 16: New camera configuration and new buttons
It is certain that a new iPhone will be released next year. There’s a good chance it will look a lot like the current model, but that hasn’t stopped people from speculating about possible changes. Colleagues at Macrumors have received details of some prototypes apparently circulating in Cupertino. Based on this information, they had mock-ups made of three variants, even down to the color.

The yellow iPhone render features an iPhone X-style camera system, an action button and combination volume rocker. The pink variant also has an action button, but with separate volume buttons, while the black variant has a larger action button and a new “capture” button. According to Macrumors, the black variant has the greatest chance of the three. Although the three variants are very similar, the biggest difference is the vertical placement of the cameras. This would not only make it easier to recognize the new iPhone, but also indicate the possibility of recording spatial video, similar to the iPhone 15 Pro. The position of the flash does not change between models.

The variant with the combined volume knob is one of the older prototypes and was originally part of the old “bongo project” to also give the volume knob haptic feedback. This feature was supposed to come to the iPhone 15 Pro, but was removed due to technical issues. The action button also comes from the iPhone 15 Pro. There is a good chance that the entire iPhone 16 series will no longer have a physical mute button. Only the size of the buttons differs between the prototypes, also because the larger variant will probably have a capacitive button.

The black model also has an additional button next to the power button, called the “capture” button. This is powered by the codename Project Nova. According to Macrumors, this would be a force sensor with “tact-switching” functionality, although the exact meaning of this is unknown. This capture button is in the same spot as the mmWave cutout in US iPhone models, so it should move to a different location on the device. It remains to be seen whether this button will make it to the final model.

There are no differences at the front compared to the current model. It still has the dynamic island, although some suggest this may disappear. In short, not much changes to the iPhone 16, except for some minor details. Of course, these are still early designs, so changes could still happen before the device is released in the fall of next year. We still have to get through winter, spring and summer before we find out more.

Reddit user zaME19 creates his own masterpiece: the Noctua Edition of the GeForce RTX 4090
That’s exactly what Reddit user zaME19 did on the r/sffpc subreddit, a subreddit for small form factor PCs. He built his own housing using a 3D printer, into which he installed three Noctua NF-A9 PWM fans. This allowed him to build the Inno3D GeForce RTX 4090 into his compact small form factor PC.
The GeForce RTX 4090 Selfmade Noctua Edition – source: reddit user zaME19
The problem was that the card got too hot and noisy to be useful in an SFF build. Reddit user zaME19 has therefore disassembled the Inno card but used Inno’s existing cooling solution. However, he has installed quieter and better fans, namely the Noctua NF-A9 PWM fans with a diameter of 92 mm.
With this solution the card is a lot quieter and on average 8 degrees cooler than with Inno3D’s standard cooling solution. He can now use the card properly in his SFF PC case. However, the question is whether this is good for your warranty and whether you dare to do this yourself with such an expensive video card. But this Reddit user can be proud of himself for building the first GeForce RTX 4090 Selfmade Noctua Edition. If you want to know more, visit his subreddit as well.

MSI breathes new life into Cyclone video cards with RTX 4060 edition
MSI has added a striking video card to its range with the RTX 4060 Cyclone. It has been years since the manufacturer paired this type of cooler with a GPU (Nvidia GeForce GTX 600 / AMD Radeon HD6000). For the time being, this version can only be found on the company’s Taiwanese website. It is not clear whether and when he will come to our region.

This model does not have a shroud, but uses a cooling solution that looks somewhat like a stock cooler from Intel or AMD CPUs. An important difference is that heat pipes come from the largest cooling block, which in turn are equipped with additional heat sinks. Unlike the latest Cyclone cards, MSI has opted for gold-colored accents instead of black or gray. The backplate also has a brushed gold appearance.
The RTX 4060 Cyclone takes up two expansion slots. It is 163 millimeters long, and has a height of 124 mm due to the excellent heat pipes. According to the product page, it achieves a boost clock of 2,490 MHz, which can be further increased to 2,505 MHz via MSI Center. It can consume up to 115 W of power via a single 8-pin power plug.

'Last Nvidia GTX GPUs will be shipped out soon: production of GTX 16 series will be stopped'
According to a post on the Chinese Board Channels forum, Nvidia will stop mass production of all GTX 16 GPUs early next year. This means that after this month board partners will no longer be able to purchase chips from this product line for the production of video cards. They are the last products to use the GTX branding, as all modern team green SKUs have the RTX prefix.
The GTX 16 series is based on the Turing architecture and uses two chips built on TSMC’s 12nm process. TU117 is used for the GTX 1630 (and sometimes also the GTX 1650), while TU116 is aimed at the GTX 1650, GTX 1650 Super, GTX 1660, GTX 1660 Super and GTX 1660 Ti. Depending on the exact GPU, the recommended retail price is a maximum of 299 euros.
Nvidia has not released a Founders Edition for the GTX 16 series.
Nvidia introduced the first GPU with the RTX brand name in August 2018 with the RTX 2080. RTX refers to the latest features, including ray tracing and DLSS. The GTX 1660 Ti followed as the first GTX 16 model in February 2019. Due to the lower computing power and the lack of RTX functionality, this GPU was aimed at the lower segment. So far, it appears to be the latest GTX models, as the designation is absent from the RTX 30 and 40 series.
