On the surface, Jenna Landsen has it all…Without You by Lindsay Detwiler

WithoutYou_ecover
Without You
By Lindsay Detwiler

On the surface, Jenna Landsen has it all…

She’s smart, beautiful, confident, and married to Camden Landsen, who happens to be drop dead sexy and just as successful. But after five long years, all the success in the world hasn’t brought the romantic spark back into her marriage. Jenna fears it never will.

When life gives you lemons, open a bakery and name it Vi’s…

Violet Streiff made the exact mistake her mother warned against—she fell in love with Liam Coffman, a charming finance major. When he left her heartbroken to further his career, Violet drowned her sorrows by opening a bakery, and now relies on Bob, her eighteen-pound cat, for warmth at night instead of a sexy man.

To find love, sometimes you first have to discover yourself…

When Jenna’s job offers an extended trip to New York, she packs her bags and takes a two-month vacation from life. The chance of her marriage surviving looks grim, until the surprise of a lifetime throws a wrench in her plans to stay in the Big Apple for good.

You can bend the rules—but sooner or later they’ll break…

When Violet meets a gloomy but totally drool-worthy guy named Camden in her shop, she’s sure her luck has changed. There’s no denying the chemistry, but he’s married, and that’s a major problem. Violet isn’t a homewrecker. Still, staying away from Camden proves nearly impossible. That is, until his wife comes home.

Two women.

Two men.

Double the chance to find love in the most

unexpected places—or double the chance for disaster.

I am a high school English teacher, an author, and a fan of anything pink. I am truly the English teacher cliché; I love cats, reading, Shakespeare, and Poe. I currently live in my hometown with my husband Chad; our cats Arya, Amelia, Alice, Bob, and Marjorie; and our Mastiff Henry.

As the author of two novels, Voice of Innocence and Without You, I have many inspirations in my life as a writer. My parents instilled in me a value for education and reading from the time I could talk. One of my earliest memories is sitting with my parents as they taught me to sound out words. My husband has also inspired me to pursue my dream of writing. I met Chad in an art class when we were only twelve. He has shown me that love is real, is enduring, and is our most important ally in this sometimes harsh world. He has supported me through this entire process, believing in my writing even before I believed in it myself.

My hope is that by becoming a published author, I can inspire some of my students and other aspiring writers to pursue their own passions. I want them to see that any dream can be attained, and publishing a novel isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

This is it. I'm dead. From Brace for Impact on Weekend Writing Warriors #8Sunday

LINK BACK TO WWW
From the best selling box set- Crashing Into Love - Brace for Impact. Scene set - Lori, rookie flight attendant's plane has just made an emergency crash landing in the Caribbean. The evacuation chute has just smacked into her, knocking her into the water that is filling the plane. I had to back up a bit to get 8 sentences - this is EOC

The weight of the chute pressed against her, pinning her under the water.
This is it. I'm dead. Lights swirled in her head. Her lungs convulsed, trying to drag in air. Tremors ripped through her muscles. Her brain screamed for her to breathe. Black swarmed through her.

Crashing Into Love is a box set of 7 stories written by 6 spectacular authors and myself. Each story is based on an airplane crash, fight for survival and romance. The idea was the brain child of D'Ann Lindun and Brenda Dyer.
Blurb - Crashing Into Love –Seven planes lift off…seven planes crash…seven stories of struggle, passion and love in the barren Canadian Wilderness, the coast of England, or the steamy heat of a tropical island. Romance hangs in the balance between survival and death.
Blurb - Brace for Impact by Daryl Devoré. What could be simpler than a routine plane trip from Toronto, Canada to Caracas, Venezuela for rookie flight attendant, Lori, and sexy R.C.M.P. officer, Guy Lapierre? But Fate had other intentions.

What people are saying about Crashing Into Love – box set (25 5 star reviews)
5.0 out of 5 stars Wow I love this box setI've read books by two of these authors and loved them so I had to get this set. It didn't disappoint. I got this book mostly for Brenda's and D'Ann's books but the rest of the novellas were pleasantly surprising will get books by the other authors
Brenda Dyers Love Comes Crashing In I loved the way the characters were best friends and end up together sometimes your best friend is the one you belong with.
D'ann Lindun's Falling Hard I love Cowboys enough said but Gage and Teagan were a great opposites attract storyline
Daryl Devore's book was fantastic also it was probably one of my favorites of the set. I was crying at the end thinking the worst but it turned out great.

Do the Fates understand the term – duh! On this week's My Sexy Saturday #MySexySaturday #Saturday7 #MSS121

This week's theme - her sexy fanatsy

Capri had a voice follow her home and it's delivering some hot attention.
Warning - Sexual Content

Arousing was so the wrong term for the lubricant. Fire would be a more apt description. I've been cooler after a tough hour of hot yoga class.Sweat rolled in streams from me, yet all I did was rest on silk pillows having my nipples erotically zapped. I pulled my knees up and let them fall. I was fully exposed, and horny as hell. I wanted to be fucked. Needed to be fucked. The bottle of warming gel flipped pouring liquid heat down my crotch. My glass penis hung, head down, aimed between my legs."Do you want it?"I groaned."Do you want it inside you—mercilessly driving you to a screaming orgasm?”Do the Fates understand the term – duh!

What people are saying about Capri's Fate

Cute, fun read
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

I'll start by saying, I'm not the biggest erotic reader, but I had to give this one a try. Call me biased since I had an advanced reading of this one, but I actually really enjoyed it.

I thought Capri's Fate was an adventurous, light hearted read peppered with dashes of humor and sexy intimate scenes.

Something I really like about Ms. Devore is her way with changing the mood while I'm reading her books. Not going to lie, when I initially started chapter one, I thought "oh dear, what am I about to read?" Then, of course, as I continued to read, the mood shifted and the romance sprang to life.

I'll also confess I'm not exactly a person that roots for the characters to get down to business, but yeah, I totally did in this book. Poor Capri and Thall, at points, I began to wonder if they might never obtain their "happy" times.

All in all, I thought this was a quick, light read that had a nice dose of adventure in some exotic locations, some steamy scenes, and a cute happily ever after.

Best friend Kat tries to get Capri to talk about her messed up life - on Friday Snippets #FridaySnippets

Second Friday of 3 this month (the 4th is Christmas and the blog is closed). And I'm featuring a different snippet from my erotic paranormal - Capri's Fate.

As Capri exited Customs, she spotted Kat jumping up and down, waving her arms with a broad grin on her face. A thrill of joy and a pang of sadness filled Capri. Joy at seeing her longtime friend, sadness at having to relive the past few days as she described the mess her life was floundering in."It's so good to see you." Kat wrapped her arms around Capri and squeezed. "I missed you so much." She released her, stepped back and placed her hands on her hips. "What did you bring me?"Capri laughed, opened her purse, and pulled out a small red bag. She handed it to Kat.She opened it and peered inside. Reaching in, she pulled out a polished stone mother elephant and two little stone baby elephant statuettes. "Ooh. They're adorable. Thank you." Kat placed a small kiss on Capri's cheek, slipped the souvenirs in her jacket pocket and linked an arm through Capri's. "You grab that suitcase. I've got this one. Now let's get you home and to a drink. I want to hear all about this adventure."Capri followed Kat to her bright yellow Focus and tossed her suitcase onto the backseat. As she clicked her seatbelt, she sighed. "I'm not talking about what happened until I've got about three glasses of something good and expensive in me. Wine. Whiskey. Whatever.""Got it. No talking." Kat turned the ignition key, shifted into reverse and backed out of the parking spot. "I promise to get you home to wine, whiskey and whatever, ASAP."True to her word, Kat was quiet all the way to the condo. After dropping her luggage in her bedroom, Capri joined her friend on the living room couch. Kat pulled the cork on the Wolf Blass, then filled both glasses. She placed the bottle on the table and lifted her glass. "Glad you're home. I missed you."Capri clinked her glass on Kat's and sighed. "Yes, I'm glad to be home, too." She swallowed a mouthful of wine. "So, tell me, anything happen while I was away. Have you found Mr. Right?"Kat shook her head. "No such luck. Not much happened. The sad news is my grandfather died.""I'm so sorry." Capri placed her glass on the coffee table and hugged Kat."He was ninety-four. He lived a long life and a long time without Grandma. She died when I was sixteen." When Capri released her, Kat settled back on the sofa. "We were all standing around the bed. The doctor said there wasn't anything else they could do. Someone said it was up to the Fates. Then Grandpa smiled and…died. I guess he's gone to be with Grandma."Kat kicked off her shoes, stretched out and rested her feet on the table next to the bottle of wine. "But, on a more cheerful note, I found a great pair of knock-off Prada pumps. They have a six-inch heel and so make me look like a sexy babe. I'll probably fall off and break my ankle the first time I wear them. They were at this little shop I found around the corner from…"She rambled on about her shopping experiences until they'd finished their second glass of Australian wine then smiled at Capri. "Okay. Nerves should be calmer now. So, I want to hear everything. Every little juicy, sordid and wonderfully embarrassing detail."Capri sipped her wine and tried to figure out how to explain what happened without having to think about it. "Do you remember the night we went to O'Malley's?"Kat grimaced. "I remember the hangover the next day."Chuckling, Capri filled her wine glass and settled back onto the sofa. "Do you remember me telling you about Thall?""The not-real guy?" Kat peered over the lip of her glass.Capri nodded. "Oh, where to begin?"

Good twist on Greek myths.
Capri's Fate is a paranormal erotic romance. Here we have the story of, Capricious. Capri for short. She is a divorcee. A thirty two year old woman. She is an executive. She is highly paid too. She is definitely sexually repressed. I can definitely relate. She is a very down to earth, logical, sensible woman. Thall is the son of a fate. Lachesis, to be exact. He has lived for a very long time. Has never once fallen in love. Until Capri. There are some very interesting characters like, Kat a receptionist at a dentist's office. Kathy Stoller. She is also Definitely Trouble. That's right Trouble with a capital T. She has had some amazing adventures with Capri. As a matter of fact, they have been arrested from a couple of said adventures. She invites Capri to a convention center. This convention center is really a show called "Erotic Notions". A sex show. And sex toy shop. It was funny when she was stunned. I would be too. For sure. There she hears a deep voice which tells her," Do you happen to own a pair of red fuzzy handcuffs?". That's their first meeting. Not face to face. But mind to mind. His voice is very seductive. Very erotic. And very persuasive. I loved the retelling of this Greek myth. With all of the three sisters as the fates. All of the characters are humorous. Truly very creative lovemaking. I had to stop to fan myself and sigh a lot of times. My toes really curled. I applause to the author. For that. It's worth your time and money.

The line that strikes fear in Capri - Do you trust me? on Thursday 13 #Thurs13

This is Thursday 2 of the 3 Thursdays this month (4th one blog is closed for Christmas) and in each Thursday I am featuring my erotic paranormal/fantasy - Capri's Fate.

This is a fun read that I had a great time writing. So here are up to 13 sentences from Capri's Fate.

Kat waited outside the restaurant when my cab pulled up to the curb. "Timing or what? I just got here."After the requisite cheek kiss we stepped up to the Maitre D'. He smiled his, I- must-be-friendly-because-they're-guests, smile and escorted us to our table. We ordered drinks and chatted. We talked about the weather, her new dress, my job—you know, just old—no, scratch old, put longtime—girlfriend stuff. After a diet conscious meal, followed by a calorie-loaded dessert, we waited outside for a taxi. "Do you trust me?" With a goofy grin on her face, Kat's dark chocolate mellowed-from-too-much-wine, eyes gazed at me.Having seen that innocent demeanor before; it meant nothing but trouble. I was a bit wary. Okay, a lot wary! The last time she'd gawked at me like that and asked the same brainless question, we ended up at a frat house beer slosh during Homecoming and I wasn't in college anymore.

What People are saying about Capri's Fate

smoking hot!
This was so entertaining. In the beginning when Capri and her best friend go to the convention, I was cracking up. This book is sexy and was a pleasure to read. I loved Thall, he is a Fates son and I found him to sweet and charming, then demanding and pushy. But I love that he saw Capri and how hard she was on herself and that she was overworked and tired. He was perfect for her.

Not Your Average Romance
Capri's Fate, a supernatural erotic romance by Daryl Devore is not my usual cup of tea. I don't usually go for a supernatural element in erotic fiction BUT as I read this book I was pleasantly surprised. Capricious Gray attends an erotic toy convention with a friend and brings home more than she bargained for. Thall is the half-human, half-immortal Fate assigned to watch over the bold and audacious Capri. He's also the love of her life, or will be, if Fate will have it.

Capri's Fate is the second book I've read by Daryl Devore. I very much enjoyed A Kept Woman: A Billionaire's Story so I took a chance on this one. I'm so glad I did. By the way, at one point in the story, Capri was reading a novel on her Kindle, which turned out to be another by Daryl Devore, Black Dorn. I loved this clever book plug and immediately bought that one as well.

I recommend Capri's Fate. It's not your usual romantic read and I think you'll like it.

WIP It Up Wednesday and Book with No Name #wipitup

First off - I'd like to apologize for not getting to anybody's posts last week- last Wed was stupid crazy - Thurs was mildly crazy and then I just plain forgot.

What's happening today - continuation of last week - Darien is still on the run from a shooting at a bar. The story takes places in Bangkok, Thailand.

Sukhumvit was one of the busiest shopping streets in Bangkok. A perfect place to get lost in a crowd. But at two-thirty in the morning, the crowds were thinning. The few tourists stumbled toward their expensive hotels. The last of the street booths were closing up. Food vendors held out plates, trying to nab a hungry drunk. Darien's stomach flipped, warning him against any thoughts of purchasing one of the tantalizing meals.Crossing the invisible line from upscale to seedy, relief filled Darien at the welcome sight of the massive, garish neon Purple Peacock sign. He'd made it this far and only once did he catch a policeman's brief eye. He headed toward a shiny, black Lamborghini Aventador parked in a dark corner. He tried to stand causal and look like he was digging for his keys. If anyone stood too close they'd see his hands and legs were trembling. Definitely not good if one was supposed to be driving a supercar home.A van screeched to a halt in the parking lot. The doors flew open. Four men dressed in black with assault rifles jumped out of the opening."Oh, shit!" Darien dropped down behind the Aventador's fender. The image of those men and their rifles was burned in his memory. Had they tracked him here? Why him?Gunfire, shattering glass and angry car alarms filled the night air. He squeezed his eyes tight and pressed his hands against his ears. Cringing, pulse pounding, he waited for what he wasn't sure. What would being shot feel like? Would it kill him instantly and he'd never know it? Or would he be wounded and left to bleed out? Why were they after him?Nothing made sense. With his head pounding from the strain, he peeled his eyelids open. No one stood nearby. He dropped to the ground and looked under the Lamborghini. Duh! Supercar. Four inch clearance. Can’t see much. He inched forward on his belly and peered around the bumper. No one in the parking lot. Gunshots and screams resonated from inside the club. Awesome. The attackers weren't after him. At least he had a chance. He turned and crawled to the back bumper. Keeping low, he snuck from car to car. The van was empty. He straightened and exited the parking lot, raced across the street, ignoring the sound of squealing brakes and angry horn blasts. He needed to get away. He needed to get distance from the club. His shoulder smashed against someone. A man? A woman? He didn't know and didn't care.

There is a discrepancy in income between the two main characters. Is that deliberate or is that just how the men seemed to you?

In the case of my other stories in this series, it was an accident of characters, but in this case, I didn’t see any other way. Simon was from a wealthy family, a very wealthy and conservativefamily (not in a good way). However, Adrian is a college professor and not that old. So unless he had family money too, he wouldn’t have that much. It’s simple math. Plus, in Simon’s case, he’s been used for his money before, so that added to his pain—having Adrian have money would negate a needed healing for him. The original group of friends was a sort of hodgepodge of class and money that bonded around college time and stayed close. Each had a different issue or set thereof, each had more or less money, family, education, etc. But it wasn’t until we add in their partners that we get into the real issues, lol. In this case, Simon is on Seth’s level moneywise, though he doesn’t act it or even show it most of the time. Having grown up around people that use money as a weapon and think that money can solve any issue, he hated showing his off... especially after finding out more than once a guy was with him only forhis wallet, not for him. Adrian is the opposite. He’s middle class, careful with his money, has student loans, pays his bills faithfully, and doesn’t want to be a burden to anyone. Their conversation about mortgages in the story was fun because Simon sort of stares at Adrian confused and says he paid by writing a check for the house he owns. Yes, like that was a normal thing to do. O.o  But money, especially the differences or the lack of any, are significantissues for many couples, so it’s been interesting to see how the characters react. Simon is worried, Adrian doesn’t want Si’s money, and the rest... well, you’ll have to read to find out ;)

Description:

Simon Tyler knows his job as a gay romance author makes his lack of faith in love more than a little ironic, but he’s tired of being used for his wallet. When a night out turns into a matchmaking scheme orchestrated by his best friends—though he’s not the target—Simon’s not thrilled, but since he’s sworn off happily-ever-after anyway, he goes along with it… until he meets the object of their efforts, Adrian, and finds perhaps he hasn’t given up on love after all. Professor Adrian Keys has tried to date hearing men before, but being deaf himself, he’s never had any success at making a connection. After his friends con him into going out and Adrian realizes it’s all an elaborate plan to set him up, he braces for yet another failure, only to discover there is a spark—except it’s not with the man his friends had in mind, but with Simon Tyler instead. Not all their friends have found a way past their romantic failures, but Simon and Adrian might be on the path to happily-ever-after. Resource Links:

Out Now! BDSM by C.A.Bell #bdsm #poetry

Blurb:
BDSMis a collection of poetry containing f/f, anal play, femdom, bondage, shibari, anal play and much more. It contains meaningful, intimate, and downright filthy poetry written in acrostic, ballad, cinquain, and free verse.
This collection is intended for the open-minded people out there who love all things BDSM.So, let BDSM take you on a journey into the taboo, and give the most erogenous part of your body, your brain, a treat.
Excerpt from Switch:
When I entered the room I noticed the whip,Then his breath on my neck, and his hand on my hip.“Hello my sweet darling, I’m glad you are here.”His voice was playful, but still I felt fear.
“Have you obeyed? Done all I have asked tonight?”I couldn’t help but clench, and close my arse tight.“Yes, Master I have, right down to the letter.”My arse clenched again, my pussy even wetter.
“And how does it feel, to be stretched like this?”His hand moved to my bottom, in the shape of a fist.“It feels strange Master, like my body is full.”His fist moved to my hair, and he began to pull.
“And full you shall be, once I’m inside you too.”“Oh Master, please tell me, what is it you plan to do?”He laughed against my ear, and tugged my head back.“I’m going to fuck your pussy, while that plug is in your crack.”
My body shuddered with sexual apprehension. He released his grip, and then came the tension…

Excerpt from Harem:
The three of us knelt, collared and chained,Waiting for one master, to teach the untrained. The three of us were stripped, told to behave,Told we were sluts, whores, and slaves.
He entered the room, we all bowed our heads,His attire was magnificent, all blacks, gold’s, and reds. Then under my chin, he placed his big hand,Told me that tonight, I would follow his command.
I nodded my head, subserviently so,Then he moved to the next, second in the row.And said exactly the same to the second and third,And then left the room without saying a word.
We all sat motionless, staring at the floor,Until he entered again, slamming the door.Knowing he was back sent a surge of exhilaration,This was what I needed, strong domination.
He snatched up my chain, tugged me over to a stock…

Brace for Impact on this week's Weekend Writing Warriors #8sunday

LINK BACK TO WWW
From the best selling box set- Crashing Into Love - Brace for Impact. Scene set - Lori, rookie flight attendant's plane has just made an emergency crash landing in the Caribbean. Lori thought her day had been bad so far - she ain't seen nothing yet.

The length of time for a message to go from a brain to a person's feet was less time than it takes for an evacuation chute to smack someone in the chest.
The air ripped from Lori's lungs. Her feet slipped out from underneath her. The cool Caribbean water covered her face, filling her eyes, nose and mouth. She needed air. She tried to inhale. Only water filled her mouth. The weight of the chute pressed against her, pinning her under the water.

I'm six hundred something years old and she threatens to tell our mother? Capri's Fate is on My Sexy Saturday #MySexySaturday #Saturday7 #MSS120

This week's theme - sexy galaxy. I don't have a sci-fi, but I do have Thall, who lives in another dimension.

From Capri's Fate -

I stretched out on my recliner chair and sighed. "Why do we have to be in corporeal form?" Shifting in my seat, I rubbed my leg. "This chair thing is extremely uncomfortable and I'm itchy."All seven hundred and fifteen of my brothers, sisters and cousins turned and glared at me. "We all agreed, Thall." My sister, Xyno, threw a cheese puff at me. "To watch the final game of the World Series the same as humans do.""This is the way the humans watch baseball." Calay's older cousin, Botta, pointed around the room. "We have chairs, beer, munchy food and a plasma screen TV.""It's not even plugged in." I snorted and tossed the puff back at my sister. "We're the children of the Fates. We don't need a TV to—""Don't be such a Grumpy Gus." Xyno caught the cheese snack, placed it on her hand and used her middle finger to flick it at me. "Just because you were dumb enough to fall in love with a human. Don't spoil everyone else's fun."Feeling the urge to defend my honor, I started to protest, but Xyno held up her index finger. "Sit there, drink beer and put a pretty smile on that face, or I'll tell Mom." She winked and turned her attention back to the baseball game.I popped the cheese puff into my mouth and chewed. I'm six hundred something years old and she threatens to tell our mother?

What people are saying about Capri's Fate

All of the characters
