Our LOLCats Will Express Disgust Over M.B.'s Behavior
You wouldn't believe how long it took for me to find a LOLCat capable of expressing the rage and hatred that all of romancelandia is feeling today toward stupid fathead Merlin Bracks, who revealed that she has been using a million aliases and faking reviews all over the place. Is this the work of one crazy author? Or a conspiracy against all readers? Only one (I can't read the rest of what should be here because the screen cap cut off)
Apparently some author with the initials MB who is a...

Finley stepped out of the terminal and caught the smell of the Atlantic even before the glass doors had fully closed behind her. She looked down the line of cars parked in the arrivals pick-up zone and spotted her father's long-time driver, standing on the curb...

REVIEW: Angelfall by Susan Ee
Dear Ms. Ee:
I am pretty sure I bought that at the recommendation of has_bookpushers on September 6, 2011, (according to my Kindle records). But like many a book, it languished (or was lost) in my to be read pile. Internet chatter about this book rose up and I pulled it out to read. Okay, I actually went to buy it at $.99 but I was told by Amazon I had already purchased it. I started and read non stop until the last page.

Friday Film Review: Definitely, Maybe
Definitely, Maybe (2008)
Genre: Romantic Dramedy
Grade: B
[image error]Definitely, Maybe is another film Netflix kept urging on me and I kept resisting. The star ranking was only slightly above an average of 3 and the description didn't grab me. I like a HEA in a movie that looks to have romance in it and with this one I just wasn't sure I'd get it. But finally, in an effort to review more recent movies after a spell of 1930s/40s era ones, I heaved a sigh and clicked "add to queue" then "move to top." And ...

REVIEW: Wanted Man by Ellen Hartman
Rhian's Rooftop Resolutions:
Between caring for her orphaned nephew and working as a tech writer, Rhian MacGregor has spent several years perfecting the art of abstinence. But the arrival of Nathan Delaney—her gorgeous housepainter—has her contemplating a new instruction manual: Seducing Your Handyman.
She's not thinking of getting serious, of course. She's only got the summer to herself before it's back to real...
Dear Bitches, Smart Authors Podcast, Episode No. 18, Listener EMails and "Coltish"
We are back with a new podcast! AND I have a new microphone that KICKS IN OMG about 4 minutes in, but after that I sound a lot better. Which is funny because I was coming down with the flu at the time we recorded. Heh.
This week we are all about Listener Mail. We're discussing our werewolf best-of, pack dynamics, happy drunks, books that make you cry, coltish legs, and the discomfort zone.
We've also got More Peatbog!
The music this week was provided by Sassy Outwater, who heard my plea, and...
Thursday News and Deals: Bestseller Roundup of 2011
HarperCollins is making a core set of backlist titles available for print on demand through espresso machines. I'm not sure why every digitized book can't be accessed through an in store POD system but I'm glad that more print titles are being made available to readers who want print.

I know that there are a ton of Downtown Abbey fans amongst romance readers. Publishers are taking notice as well and suggesting a number of titles that might appeal to the Downtown Abbey crowd.
So they...
REVIEW: All That Bleeds by Kimberly Frost
Dear Ms. Frost:
This book ended up being too frothy for me. Alissa is a Muse and as such her role in life is to inspire those around her. The big concept in the book is that the heroine is competing to be the Best Muse of All (or for to be the Wreath Muse) which is akin to a Miss Universe pagaent complete with an evening gown competition and a swimsuit ("I've heard we'll be wearing bathing suits for the photo shoot by the retreat's tropical indoor pool. No gloves or long skirts for that...

REVIEW: Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas
Dear Ms. Kleypas:
I may be in the minority of readers in this, but I really prefer your contemporary books to your historicals. I find your contemporary voice more confident, fluent, and engaging, and, more specifically, I find Travis series books reliable comfort reads. Since we already had reviews of Sugar Daddy and Smooth Talking Stranger posted, Jane asked me if I wanted to write a view of Blue-Eyed Devil. I readily agreed, not only because it rounds out our coverage of the Travis series, ...

Random House acquired Canada's major book publisher McClelland & Stewart. I'm not familiar with M&S, but the acquisition has been labeled the death of Canadian publishing. M&S had previously received a government loan:
As reported in The Globe & Mail today: "Before...
