REVIEW: Asus Transformer TF300
The following is a review for the ASUS Transformer TF300 from our former reviewer turned editor, Dr. Sarah Frantz.
In my new capacity as a freelance editor, I’ve discovered that I do three types of reading. One is just…reading like a reader. I prefer to do this in paper or on my phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 phone, which replaced a second generation iPhone. I read on both phones, using Mantano for ePub, BlueFire for PDFs, and Kindle for books I buy from Amazon. I love reading on my phone...

#BloggerTip: Using GravityForms to automate formatting of blog posts
If you couldn’t tell by the last couple of weeks’ posts about Automator and Belvedere, I am a big fan of automating repetitive tasks in my life. This way I can spend more time creating content, reading or just laying about the house. I’ve been telling everyone how much I enjoyed Charles Duhigg’s book “The Power of Habit” ( A | BN | K | S ) because the book is essentially Automator for your life. (Seriously, this is one of the most fascinating books I’ve read in years. I guess I’ll have to do...

The Fallen by T. Jefferson Parker. $ .99
This is Parker’s 13th novel featuring San Diego homicide detective Robbie Brownlaw. The preceding book “California Girl” is also on sale for $1.99. It received a starred review and PW suggested that Parker could win a third Edgar for this book.
From the Jacket Copy:
A good cop, Robbie Brownlaw was thrown from a sixth-floor window of a downtown hotel and miraculously survived. The traumatic incident left Robbie with a fast-track career in the San Diego...

REVIEW: Skin Deep (I-Team #5.5) by Pamela Clare
Dear Ms. Clare,
I was interested to read your I-Team novella, Skin Deep (I-Team 5.5) for two reasons. The first is, in general, I’ve enjoyed the series. I loved the last book, Breaking Point (reviewed here by Jane), and I’ve grown invested in the lives of the men and women the series features. Secondly, I was interested to see what you would do with the confines of a novella. Your novels are complex, with multilayered plot-lines and multi-faceted characters. I wondered what you’d create using...

Adrian was trying to decide if he could manage to skip Cultural Geography, for the third time that week, when he saw her. She was sitting by the fountain, staring at him.
‘She’s not wearing a uniform.’ He noted vaguel...

Colters’ Promise by Maya Banks. $ 2.99
Then ewest book in New York Times bestseller author Maya Banks’ Colters series will be on sale between Friday, July 6 – Sunday, July 8. I’ve heard that this story, despite its premise, is not super erotic.
From the Jacket Copy:
In COLTER’S PROMISE, with the help and love of the three Colter brothers, Lily overcame the odds of a tragic past. They taught her new ways to love and new dreams to share. The life she’s built with them is better than anything she...
REVIEW: Kiss the Girl by Susan Sey
Dear Ms. Sey:
I saw someone talking about your self published effort on Twitter and immediately went to buy it. I liked your Berkley debut title, Money, Honey which was humorous and interesting contemporary romance. The look and feel of “Kiss the Girl” is certainly of traditionally published quality. Unfortunately very little about the story worked for me.
The story begins with rich girl and famous humanitarian Nixie Leighton-Brace returning from Nairobi to rural Kenya with the necessary permit...
Friday Film Review: On Approval (1982)
On Approval (1982 TV production)
Genre: Witty Comedy of Manners
Grade: B+
“I suppose I should warn you, I lock my door at night.”
“Not to worry, . . . only the snow will be wanting to get in.”
“On Approval” is a late 1920s play written by Frederick Lonsdale which has twice been made into movies and was later presented by the BBC in a televised production in 1982. I first saw the 1944 film, which has been shifted in time to the late Victorian age and which I’d like to review at a later time, and wh...

The European Union. Big Stock Photo
Capitol Records, LLC v. Redigi Inc. – Given the recent ruling in the EU that digital downloads are resalable, I thought it might be worthwhile to revisit the Redigi suit. To refresh readers’ recollections, the Redigi suit is about whether a company can resell digital products. Redigi allows for the resale of legitimately purchased iTunes music. Capital Records sued Redigi for copyright infringement. In February of this year, the court denied Capital’s reques...
